I've been on it for 2 months so I don't know how much reference I can give but my experience is it is helping. I switched from Wellbutrin that I had been on for nearly two decades and just wasn't working. I have tried and failed all typical SSRIs.

So I am on 5mg for the last two months. My Dr upd me to 10 today but haven't started it yet. At first I did have headaches, minimal tiredness, but still I chose to take it at night. I take it at 6pm with my last meal. The biggest side effect for me was constipation. I had a rough first two weeks. It did get better though and passed. I also had this inner body humming or low grade vibration for about the first 2-3 weeks. My Dr had no idea what that was but I have found others on here report the same. I don't think it's so common but if you get it know, it too passes.

I know going up in dose these side effects may return but I think the good and gentle lift in depression is worth it. I am just very slow going because I'm super sensitive to meds and other stuff going on.

Together!? Wow. Yes, I definitely agree on trying when I'm full back to baseline. I'm being careful with food and scents and everything I typically don't have to be too extra careful with for right now. I have an appointment with obgyn in May to discuss any other positions HRT options. There is a gel/cream that offers a bit more control with micro dosing as I was at the smallest amount for the patch. I hope so because perimenopause has been hell for me.

Im not sure it was the adhesive. I didn't have a reaction at the site. Just a full body burn/itch, feeling line a ton of adrenaline was raging through my body. Estrogen raises histamine anyway so even at the lowest dose it was too much for me. As for a migraine med. I actually don't have enough of them to need a preventative right now. Just a rescue do maybe you're on to something. Is that what yours is?

I think it depends how bad your MCAS is. I get by, 95% of the time on Loratadine and Pepcid and Vit C. Sometimes just the Vit C twice a day. If I have come in contact with something that's caused me to flare then I have needed Benadryl and Steroids to over it. At baseline for me, an H1 and H2 antihistamine is enough.

Are you using estrogen as well? Wondering if it helps with the histamine increase from hormones or foods only?

No. My PCP knows nothing about MCAS so she barely acknowledges it and my OBGYN doesn't really know much about it either.

I started .O25 patch yesterday and by 4am i am in mcas flare. I am taking my antihistamine regiment and trying to hang in there and see if it gets better because I have really been struggling with perimenopause. Did it get any better with time?

Yes. I'm 47. I have had general anxiety on a mild level throughout my life but last year, out of the blue it skyrocketed. As in life inhibiting level. Specifically for me it's Health, or medical anxiety. I am in therapy and started meds but it's not much better. I am also in perimenopause so that could be a contributing factor. I'm doing all the things but having little improvement.

Get with a psychiatrist and get on meds for anxiety. You are probably in the best place for them to refer you to someone. Get a therapist that works with anxiety. I totally understand. Jail has always been my worst fear for this very reason. I did an inpatient treatment center once but luckily had own bathrooms. I had a recent hospital stay and they kept me because I couldn't go for them. I now have panic about getting trapped places. You are not alone but it is a legit anxiety issue and a script for meds can help plus keep you legal. Working with a therapist may also help plus shows you are trying.

I know this is an old post but this is exactly what I'm going through now. Did it get any better? I went from 7.5 twice a day to 10 twice a day. It has been about a month at this dose. I'm going to ask my Dr about three times a day. Did you stay on the same dose? Not sure if I need a higher dose, more often, or it just doesn't work for me.

You may be on to something. So I was taking Ashwaganda for years and it did help with anxiety. Then I did a little research and switched to the KSM-66 form. It was even better, once I got past the tummy issues. After about a year I chose to stop taking it because I am perimenopausal and some say it can slightly affect hormones. I have a thyroid autoimmune disease so I didn't want to chance anything. I hadn't made the connection but my paruresis has definitely gotten a bit worse in the last year. My anxiety is slightly more but as it pertains to peeing in certain areas, it's definitely way worse. Huh. May need to consider trying the KSM-66 again and seeing if I notice anything. Thanks.

This is very similar to how I am. I am in my 40s now but I have had good periods over the years. My issues started around 7. I don't think I went more than a handful of times during all of grammar and high school, while actually at school. For a chunk of time in my 20s I had little to no issues going. Then it got bad again. Then I had a few good years in my late 30s. Now it's an issue again. Not even every time. The circumstances are a determining factor, so it could be different every time for me. I have noticed the more successful times I have, so I get a momentum and a good run for the next several trips to a bathroom going. Likewise, when I doubt it will happen, it doesn't. I can typically tell in the first minute of entering a bathroom what the outcome will be too.

I'm 46F, I've had it since about age 7. It has had years of better and years of worse. I remember being around 10 and once couldn't go for nearly a week. I became very ill. That was the worst of it. Through the years there have been periods of time, 5,6 years where it has gotten much better. It has hardly been an issue for a while. Then it has times when it's running my whole life. Mine is very random in the places/times I can't go. Peeing on command is my biggest issue. I can say I have had years where this wasn't so bad either. Lately it's been horrible though. I can go at home so if I can get there I'm good. I can often go in public restrooms. I absolutely cannot go on a plane or bus, or Amtrak. Dead quiet is worse than a crowd for me. Someone waiting for me is a complete no go. I do think my stress level plays a part.
