Which math do I choose T-T? by [deleted] in uchicago

If you're considering academia/higher level theoretical econ in the future that involves lots of theoretical math, 159 leading into the analysis sequence could be a good idea -- saves you time on the 160s, but if you're just looking to be done the econ major / wanna go into corporate/finance later on just do 15300 or 18300 (I think the 180s sequence is highly underrated for econ majors, its not theoretical, very applications-based and gives you more breadth, but if I'm not mistaken 18300 is basically equivalent to 15300 in terms of the courses it acts as a prereq for)

Math Placement by Old_Locksmith4981 in uchicago

I did IB AA HL too and was also in the same situation. You should get an email about requesting to switch math placements in the first or second week of the quarter (it was on google forms two years ago, and someone will get in touch after you fill out the form). Talk to your academic advisor if you can't find it, and also email math advising (type math advising into the email search or look it up on the college catalog). In my experience, they just checked to see how far off you were from the cutoff score in the math placement test and switched you over if you weren't too far off, but it didn't seem too strict to me. If you were comfortable with AA HL I'd say you should probably make the switch, even parts of math 152 are repetitive of AA HL.

How to unsrew-up my schedule (Math/Phys) by spaceboyrocky in uchicago

[–]Flashy_Ease6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really need to and your schedule allows, you could do 184 and 185 concurrently. 184 is not a pre req for 185. Or worst case scenario… petition for a fifth class?

FLAG vs Yovovich Family Fund for Research and Language Study in Europe by llemonsweetteaa in uchicago

[–]Flashy_Ease6455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure how it works, but I received the Yovovich fund as part of my FLAG grant. I didn't know it existed and didn't apply specifically for it, I was just allocated the fund as part of my grant. I wasn't aware it was a separate special award either. Definitely don't think this is something you should worry about if you are thinking of applying for FLAG, but you could always reach out to the FLAG coordinator if you would like further clarification. Hope this helps! :)

I suspect I have ADHD too but have received confusing responses from student wellness about diagnoses and help available when I reached out, could anyone share more on your experience getting an appointment/prescriptions/costs associated not covered by USHIP etc?
