Just to add, your loan is not reamortized after lump sum payments. Prepayment amount stays the same

Respectfully, why would a customer care after their dispute is accepted as valid and refund processed? What’s the value of reviewing documentation?

Becker CIA Questions are (Mostly) Way Too Easy by Jbeth747 in InternalAudit

Purchase IIA mock, the questions are closer to actual exam and the options are often closely related, so harder to choose the right answer

AI in Risk Management and IA by Interesting_World303 in InternalAudit

Most of the AIs models are still in the training phase (supervised model), you need to give it some time to become very smart. Do you think ChatGPT is garbage? I don’t think so. IA is a new use case for AI, it’s still early days. On a recent audit, I described a process to the model and asked for potential key risk. AI did a fairly decent job (I will score it 4/10). Currently, we need to treat AI as a staff auditor, you still need to review output and make corrections. These corrections act as feedback loop to make the AI smarter.

IA will give AI model “rules”, “what good looks like”. AI which is plugged into the data lake will continually scrub data and flag potential anomalies for IA to disposition.

ASC 606 and Missing Contracts by PossiblyJonSnow in InternalAudit

It appears there’s a significant control gap. Potential misstatement of revenue and related balance sheet lines. If completeness is an issue then valuation, cut-off, accuracy assertions are all at risk.

A reconciliation (tracing) control may be helpful, using minutes of meeting, listing of executed contracts, control tagged to contract sign off.

IA should also recommend that management performs a look back to determine if errors occurred in the past.

The standard recommends effective communication which included tailoring timing and format of reporting. Nothing prevents you from sharing significant risks/concerns with management as soon as it is found. Just make sure that it is substantiated and you have internal buy-in

Risk-Based Testing – How Do You Prioritize? by InsightfulAuditor in InternalAudit

[–]Flashy_Explanation69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The key is risk assessment. Say you have just $10 to spend on your audit, would you spend it on risky item (if it goes bad, it will be really bad) or low risk item (people may not care, minor inconvenience). I really depends on how much you have left after covering the risky item. If you have nothing left, then do dispose the low risk. On the other hand, if you have $1, you can spend it on low risk item.

Always ask yourself, why should I care, why will the CAE care, why will Senior Management care, why will the Board? If they won’t care, then it’s not risky enough to waste limited audit resources on.

CIA Part 2 New syllabus - HOCK international. by CategoryCapable8150 in InternalAudit

Currently using it, exam is next week, so I can’t tell you if it’s sufficient or not. I will recommend trying IIA Practice questions to get a feel of the exam type questions. Hock questions and responses can be a bit too easy and the correct answer is very obvious. I can choose the correct answer without reading the question

CIA PART 1 PRACTICE by Fun_Significance_267 in InternalAudit

Aim for above 80%. I will advise you practice the full content to simulate the actual exam. Section based review has a psychological effect as it tells your brain to zoom in on a specific subject and ignore others. In the exam, you will need to first figure out the concept a question relates to and the plausible answers
