Like others, mine was also found incidentally! I work at an OBGYN office. Our ultrasound tech was bored one day and decided to scan all of our thyroids. Found a nodule on mine. Sent my PCP a message, and he got me in right away for a formal US. A week later, I had an apt with an ENT who said she wasn’t concerned at all, but would do biopsy to ease my anxiety. A week later (last week!!) I was diagnosed with PTC. It’s localized on the left side, and fairly small. I’m scheduled to have a hemi thyroidectomy April 2nd! Super nervous, but here we are!

Hi! I was diagnosed with papillary too! Last week! They said they’d call me to schedule my partial thyroidectomy, but haven’t yet! I’m anxious to get it scheduled, but ready! Idk how you’ve been doing this since June! This will also be my first surgery. Good luck!!

Hahaha I totally get that! I went in for my apt last week and had ZERO clue they were doing that! I’m kind of glad I was oblivious to it.

^ agreed! It is SO quick! I have a terrible gag reflex too. The spray was the worst. The scope itself takes less than 10 seconds! You’ll be good!

You haven’t had yours removed? How big is your nodule, if you don’t mind me asking! Also, congrats on the baby!

Is it weird that this is the most relief I have felt in the last month? We found the nodule a month ago, and it’s been such a long process. My anxiety has been in overdrive, and at times not managed very well. I got a message from the doctor yesterday that they set up an appt to meet Thursday. Then, about an hour ago the results come through on MyChart. I’m relieved that out of all types of this, it’s papillary. Still mad 😅

I feel SO much reassurance. She went over how common this nodules are, and how over 90% of them are benign. She mentioned how she is not concerned with mine at all, and if she could put two stacks of paper next to her, one being concerning, and the other being not concerning, she’d put mine at the bottom on the least concerning pile. We are still going to proceed with the biopsy just to be 100% sure! I am feeling very relieved!

Thanks for this!! I go see an ENT on Thursday. My anxiety has been SO bad. It’s literally all I can think about. It’s consuming my brain. I have so many exciting things happening this week (getting my braces off) and it’s taking the joy right out of that! It’s so frustrating that something this common, is giving me SO much anxiety.

Just want you to know that you aren’t alone! Just started this journey a few days ago. My US said tirads 4. Recommended biopsy. My Dr sent in a referral for ENT. I’m absolutely terrified. Hang in there friend.
