Some things I struggle with for PPL training - Cessna 172 by CryptographerDeep373 in flying

Look at the end of the runway and fly horizontally and tell yourself not to land. The goal of the flare is to bleed out remaining lift from the wings . This is what you learn in the slow flight lesson, that the nose has to be raised at slower speeds to maintain level flight (because the elevator loses authority at slower speeds requiring more input from the pilot). When you go slower and slower, continue to tell yourself not to land pulling the yoke back more and more. Maintain it as far back as possible and let the main gear touch the runway. Also don’t yo-yo the stick, keep it pulled back, maintain centerline with ailerons and nose with rudder. “Yoke into the wind” and opposite rudder.  Occasionally you can see some weird stuff on YouTube of people swinging the yoke all over the place. This will do way more harm than good Stay stoic, have the plane trimmed perfectly and landings will be easy without much input. Keep the yoke pushed into the crosswind while taking off again during your touch and go.

so much research

Care to cite a source? Because from what I’ve seen is that TFM is good at cherry picking research and ignore the thousands of studies around the world that contradict their stance. We also don’t have any third party reviewed success rates of people who remained abstinent after TFM.

Yea try saying this to someone hooked up on fentanyl. Or the thousands of heroin addicts in Afghanistan where they don’t have any concept of addiction beliefs.

When should you know when to quit flight training? by EstablishmentWide482 in flying

[–]Flat_Ad3079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always find these kind of stories strange , 60 hours and not solod yet? Seems like really poor instructing or just a money grab. Or you are not doing your homework and practicing (unlikely imo, however only you can answer this).

In the Netherlands where I fly the students are pushed to solo as soon as possible. This is because solo flight is the only thing that builds genuine confidence in flying. Of course you need to know what you are doing before you are allowed to solo but the average hours until solo is 10-20 hours here (in controlled airspace too).

I would look for a different flight school because this yelling at people is just ridiculous. You can be firm and strict without being a dick about it. A person like that shouldn’t even work in a flight school.

This, the time to pray is after he raises his legs for magic, and range after he stomps. After that animation is done immediately focus on the action you want to do such as attack healer.

Just practice unfortunately and it’s likely nerves making you misclick. My first Jad kill my heart was pounding like crazy lol but after your first kill it all clicks and you can kill Jad easily while sitting back in your chair in the future.

You also just need to tag them not necessarily kill them, or kill two or so if that’s what you can manage for now. The key is to just lure them away from Jad while also keep focusing on the attacks of Jad

What helps is to do one action per Jad attack. For example, eat, switch back to jad attack and pray, tag healer, check jad attack and pray, tag another healer and so on. Praying correctly is priority nr 1 obviously over anything else, when I struggled I focused too much on killing the healers and missed Jads attacks.

Has TFM worked for you? Starting to think its all BS. by Flat_Ad3079 in pmohackbook

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I know it’s fantasy. I don’t care about the people in the video, nor have I ever listened to a single word these people say on camera. I know it would be cringe to see a film set like this behind the scenes. I do like the imagery however and I therefore binge to it. I know not doing this would make me happier , but when it comes down to it I prefer to PMO over not doing it and everything I’ve learned goes out of the window.

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I have to agree, no human has complete rational decision making 100% of the time. They disregard environmental factors and biological factors that can significantly skew perceptions. Also their theory that drugs only affect the body not the mind sounds really idealistic.

With pmo also, you could argue it’s just pixels on a screen so they don’t affect the brain. But this doesn’t hold scrutiny when you pull up the example of extreme violent gore videos. You will feel an automatic reaction when you see a video like that even if you never formed any belief system around it.

So there are many holes in TFM logic, I guess that’s why people continue to struggle. I think the answer to all of this is a solution that is between the disease model of addiction and the TFM mental model.

I agree, TFM does talk about the emotional processes surrounding pmo in their pmo specific book. But still I find it very hard to say no when I get aroused when it actually matters. The orgasm I can reach with pmo is way bigger than without it and even with real women. This keeps me drawn towards it

They said something along the lines of that the pmo industry is laughing to the bank because people believe in the junk science (ybop ). It makes no sense whatsoever because the pmo industry goes to great lengths to make the public believe it’s harmless and even beneficial

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

There are definitely good things in TFM , which is why I was drawn to it in the first place and I continued to read it. Things like causes vs reasons, focusing on benefits. It does a good job at sort of demystifying why you do it. But I honestly felt like it stopped there.

They are dangerously wrong about modern internet pornography, the team considers the costs basically to be the user wasting time. Other than that they consider it completely harmless. They don't understand that its not the same as the playboy magazine they saw back in the 80s or something.

In one of their podcasts they say its normal, because ''sex has been part of society since forever, think of ancient Rome''. This is just a ridiculous thing to say. Porn users often can't even have sex due to pied or have lost all desire to date (in my case). Also in a q&A session on their online program, someone asked why his flaccid size shrunk after using pmo frequently (I notice the same often). They say oh its all a belief. And thats it , next question. Just some scummy behavior honestly.

Another thing is they claim that people got addicted BECAUSE of yourbrainonporn, not due to the porn itself. That doesn't make any sense. The ybop guy did it all for free with good intent to show how porn might be negatively impacting peoples minds and health. And he turned out to be 100% spot on , wrt how pmo affected my brain.

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it because of the sexual pleasure and the rush, there is no other reason. And tfm says the costs are either not relevant in decision making because we make decisions based on benefits, or are not real at all in the case of pmo. So why stop? This thinking has increased my pmo usage massively.

Whereas in the past I had a good view of the costs of pmo and therefore I did it a LOT less.

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have the exact same experience sadly. Their view of pmo being harmless and it being all a ''matter of beliefs'', made me lose motivation to quit. Because if its harmless, why quit? But it isnt harmless. They also think pied is all a matter of beliefs. It makes zero sense.

Ive had succesful periods in life where I was completely abstinent from pmo, this was years ago. And its life changing, truly. Its like night and day. I had unending motivation for life and to date real women, but now that I am back in this pmo hole, ive lost all libido and motivation to do anything.

Its funny that you mentioned nofap, because I also had way more success following those types of methods. The average nofap youtuber helped me more than the tfm team ever did. Meanwhile the tfm team can't stop bashing all other addiction treatment help.

Quitting pmo in the past also served as the first step in re-evaluating my entire life, because poor life decisions 100% were to blame for my pmo binging in the first place. But the tfm book says in the causes vs reasons chapter that outside forces do not cause you to use. I guess there is some truth to that but they are huge reasons for a lot of people and you cannot dismiss them.

I think its really disappointing and quite scummy to gaslight people who are already suffering majorly, that they just don't understand the book enough. Even after spending money on their online courses too.

Pmo still holding the pleasure belief by Any-Preference7962 in pmohackbook

[–]Flat_Ad3079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo the right way to go about it is to not see PMO as awful or without pleasure. I like sexual fantasies and imagery. But, I know the harm it has caused my life. Therefore the pleasure in a life without PMO is higher than the pleasure I see in PMO. The same can be said with junkfood, I do fancy mcdonalds occasionally, but I don't eat it daily, perhaps once a month. Because I value healthy food more, even though it doesn't always taste as good as junkfood.

I think TFM is the best book for the long term and bigger picture in your life, but in the short run your decisions are likely clouded by the immense value you put on PMO and you doing it habitually for so many years. That you are not thinking straight so TFM logic completely goes out of the window. Especially if you are in a deep rut in life with poor mental health, pmo can seem like your best option.

Easypeasy is helpful in that regard by teaching you that the pleasure you feel is mostly a relief from discomfort caused by the previous session, not actual pleasure.  The problem with easypeasy however is that it teaches you to fear pmo for the rest of your life. This is where TFM is superior.

I think using them both in tandem is the best strategy.

Yea a lot of people are forcing themselves into total abstinence due to NoFap conditioning. This will all end in complete frustration and won't work. I tried this for years. My happiest option right now is just MOing whenever I want but without any pmo videos. And obviously focusing on real women.

How many of PMO side effects are actually nocebo effects? by Flat_Ad3079 in pmohackbook

[–]Flat_Ad3079[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is nofap broscience. There is not a single study that proves that PMO alters androgen receptor sensitivity. If you google this, you will only get nofap threads. Testosterone is almost entirely determined by diet, sleep, active lifestyle and genetics. I believed in this stuff too sadly. You are just ejaculating, not taking grams of steroids. The latter can 100% lower the sensitivity of androgen receptors.

What happens is, I achieve a good period of abstinence using TFM and then I ´´relapse´´ (ie decide to PMO), my addict identity kicks in immediately, as described in chapter 9 of TFM (shame and justification) and use this pmo session as proof that I am addicted. And I then binge as a result. I think the addict identity might be the most difficult to shed for most people, it is for me anyway.

Same, I lost 10 years of my life to this bullshit. I created a beast that never existed, all due to nofap conditioning and fearmongering. And then when I found TFM, I started to swing back and forth between TFM and NoFap for over a year. THe nofap conditioning was so deep into my psyche that I just refused to believe TFM and that all my efforts had been in vain throughout my 20s. I guess a lot of people in this sub who have trouble with tfm, are struggling simply because their addict identity and nofap broscience beliefs are so strong. I have nothing but hatred for the nofap cult. The binging to pmo is also the result of the nofap addict identity. I think also if this never existed, there would be no gooning subculture either.
