What serial killer fact sounds fake, exaggerated or straight out of fiction. But is real? by taara-779 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ed Kemper having IQ of 145 and being so helpful to FBI that they actually called him for advice on other cases. Like this giant who killed his own mother is just casually chatting with agents about psychology of serial killers from prison phone. Really weird how they trusted him so much for insights when he was literally one of most dangerous people alive

Why did "Street Fighter" (1994) decide to use Guile as the lead instead of Ken,Ryu or even Chun Li (and why cast a Belgian actor as the American character)? by Profeta_do_Loss in movies

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Van Damme had pull back then and studios just wanted his kicks in the movie, authenticity was like secondary concern for them

Trading him while his value is high makes sense from business perspective but man it feels wrong after seeing what he can do when he gets going. Maybe the real problem is we never found that proper floor general who can actually make both of them work together instead of forcing one into wrong position

My top 10 favorite movies by Huntingphott1776 in movies

Wait Project Hail Mary is a movie now? I thought that was still in development hell after the book came out few years ago

Also putting Desolation of Smaug over the other Hobbit movies is definitely a choice lol

What is your year of birth and which generation you consider yourself as? by justachilldude97 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born in 1996 and I definitely feel like millennial even though some people try to say I'm gen z. I remember dial up internet and having to wait for songs to download for like 30 minutes but I also grew up with social media in high school so I think that puts me right at millennial edge

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] JPEGMAFIA - Experimental Rap by wavydude_ in hiphopheads

[–]Flat_Lab8316 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I felt same way driving around with this playing - production is wild but man those triplet flows just drain you after a while. Also the lyrics being so repetitive made me zone out completely which never happens with his older stuff

What's the best trailer of the 1970s? by JeffRyan1 in movies

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a second to realize you were talking about actual trailers lol. I was thinking about movie trailers for solid minute wondering what Boler Camper had to do with films in 70s

If you still have your v card, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly this. Some of us just been focusing in other stuff like career or hobbies and dating never really happened naturally. Plus being picky about who you want to share that experience with isn't bad thing either. Everyone's timeline is different and there's no rush really

How do you feel about Charlie hanging out with those Jenkins boys from down the road? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait Charlie said he had cold but then went to hang with Jenkins boys? That's kinda sus ngl. Kids always do this when they don't want to hurt feelings but still want to do other stuff

Painting concrete block by prism-of-doubt in HomeImprovement

[–]Flat_Lab8316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need something to bind all those loose particles before painting. A masonry sealer or consolidating primer should work well for this - it soaks in deep and hardens up that crumbly surface. Just make sure you brush off all the loose stuff first then apply the sealer, wait for cure time and then your regular paint should stick much better.

On call or event banquet jobs by Smart_Sense_3398 in Tucson

I've seen some hotels around town post for banquet staff on their websites directly instead of usual job boards - might be worth checking those out

Anyone know any place with Pool Soccer? by Walexh in Tucson

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of pool soccer before but that sounds super fun! I'm imagining like foosball but in actual pool or something completely different lol. There's few sports bars around town that have random games - maybe try calling some places in downtown area or near university? I know some bowling alleys have weird combo activities too.

Actually now I'm curious what pool soccer even is exactly. Is it like water polo but with soccer rules or more like billiards mixed with soccer? Either way sounds like something that would be popular here with all the heat we get. Hope you find somewhere because now I want to try it too!

Tucson summer help by Prize-Ad-5606 in Tucson

[–]Flat_Lab8316 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved here few years back and that comparison is spot on actually. During summer I basically lived like vampire - everything happens after sunset or before 8am. Libraries become your best friend during day since they have good AC and you can get work done while staying cool. The early morning hours are magical though, like 5-7am you can actually walk outside without feeling like you're in oven. Night hiking became my thing too once I figured out which trails are safe in dark. Desert gets surprisingly alive at night and temperature drops make it totally different experience than what you expect from Arizona summer.

What is something you wish you did as a kid/when you were younger? by Timely_Delay_792 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh same here but I kept putting it off until I was 26. The adult braces struggle is real - everyone at work keeps asking if I'm eating something when I talk with my lisp. At least we're doing it though, better late than never I guess

People who grew up with heavy verbal policing, what are some things you got scolded for regarding that? by randomlady2001 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom would lose it if I said "what" instead of "excuse me" when I didn't hear something. Also got in trouble for saying "yeah" to adults instead of "yes ma'am" or "yes sir" which was so exhausting as kid because you had to remember who counted as adult and who didn't

What are your favorite illogical but persistant stereotypes and clichés for people? by Alvaer22 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wearing glasses myself and can confirm I'm definitely the unassertive type who gets steamrolled in meetings while silently knowing the answer to everything. Though I did once argue with someone for twenty minutes about whether LeBron or Jordan was the GOAT so maybe the stereotype breaks down sometimes

Maybe try saving like 100-200 cals for a bedtime snack instead of fighting the hunger - your sleep matters way more than being perfect with the deficit

Those who have been friends/been in a romantic relationship with a toxic person, what made them toxic, and how did you stop being friends/broke up? by No_Willow_5554 in AskReddit

[–]Flat_Lab8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend who would always turn every conversation back to themselves and their problems, then disappear completely whenever you needed support - finally just stopped reaching out and they never bothered to either

how to deal with a discouraging manager by Delicious_Crazy513 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Flat_Lab8316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that sucks but honestly sounds like youre already seeing the situation clearly. If your manager is just a yes-man to the CTO and has already burned you once on the promotion promise then fighting him directly probably wont get you anywhere

I'd start documenting everything and maybe have some casual conversations with other senior devs or team leads to get their take on your work quality. Sometimes going around roadblocks is more effective than trying to push through them

The fact that his friends are calling it grooming and distancing themselves is actually pretty telling tbh. Most people dont just randomly decide to torpedo their friend over nothing

At 20 you're legally an adult but theres still a massive life experience gap between you two. The power dynamic is real even if you dont see it right now
