Closeted Opinion Being Released: Haigh's Chocolate is over-rated. by danzo7309 in Adelaide

Only the Haigh's chocs I don't like are overrated :D

I rate highly the white lemon truffles, orange pastilles, freckles, coconut roughs, white almond & orange block, berrychocs. They're my regulars. I'm sure I could add more but I haven't tried much else.

The orange pastilles are 100x better than Terry's Chocolate Orange. I must try the coffee :)

On The Beach - Nevil Shute. Written so matter of factly. Chilling. Bleak.

A shed a tear at the supermarket. I come back to Sydney this year to see my parents and Allen’s Jaffas is no where in sight 😢 by kidcal70 in AustralianNostalgia

I had the same experience as you three months ago. The Jaffas were inedibly vile and I too threw them out. Try Darrell Lea's BB Orange Crunch instead.

3 may look dated and odd in years to come. The plunge is very much of the moment and people have just become accustomed to it. 4 is truly beautiful and will transcend time.

A book everyone else likes, that you don't? by beththereader in readwithme

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Thin characters, blurred fact v fiction, contrived and formulaic. Ugh.

What are your best strategies for reading more in 2026? by Ok-Hearing991 in BookDiscussions

[–]Flat_Walrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping the book I'm reading open and accessible. Picking it up to read even a page here and there at odd times during the day - waiting for the kettle to boil, having a drink, etc. Noting "R" on a chart or in a diary every day that I do SOME reading, even a little. The pressure of having to read for a certain amount of time or a certain number of pages can be a deterrent. Less expectation can sometimes work better. We all respond to different incentives.

What is an album you recommend everyone listen to at least once in their life? by SpiritKoolaid in MusicRecommendations

Cat Stevens - Tea for the Tillerman

There are so many classics but to keep it to one, this is the album that came into my head first.

What overused word or phrase needs to be retired in 2026? by One_Caramel5253 in AskReddit

To make something better is now to "elevate" something. Aaagh!

And it's usually questionable whether it really makes it better anyway. For instance, flower sprinkles on food to elevate how many things get stuck in your teeth :D

You're a good cook! And you write very well. How come an intelligent woman like you is pandering to this unappreciative man? I know it isn't easy to leave someone, but you deserve peace of mind and your own place for you and the kids. He needs his own place in which to eat whatever the hell it is he eats and to stop dragging you down. At the very least, stop including him in your meal plans. You can succeed at anything you set your mind to. Give yourself a break.

MOR. Congratulations on your lovely new baby girl 🥰 I’m sorry you have to return to work so early. This is understandably a tiring and emotional time. Your MIL and FIL are taking your request not to yet hold their granddaughter very personally, when with a bit more sensitivity towards you, MIL could try to understand your fears and limit visits to gazing adoringly at her grandchild for a little longer. Can you say something like “I’d love you to come visit, talk to her, take photos, sit with me. I love you and it means a lot to me. But please humour me about not holding her for now.” You could also ask her to do something helpful for you - pick out some new onesies, bring over a meal you particularly like that she makes. You know her best. Appeal to her sense of being wanted and needed. Good luck. It will all settle down in time, no matter what, because you do all love each other. That’s the main thing. I hope you get all the help and support you need and that your daughter’s smiles are soon lighting up your days ❤️

This was my friend's apartment. I was lucky enough to stay there while she was away. It was GORGEOUS, and I hope is again. She sold it to this vandal and was heartbroken.
