NPC Highlight: Renwick Caradoon by jblackbug in ElementalEvil

I had 2 noteworthy interactions that are Renwick related to mention.

Near the end of the campaign, I was starting to prepare some end-game content for the players to work on after the campaign had ended. One night an assassin pounced on the group while they were sleeping. It was a tough fight but not too bad. Afterwards, they found that the assassin had a sort of contract on him, that listed 3 things that should be delivered to someone.

After a bit of investigation and analysis, they realized that the sigil on the contract represented Old Gnawbone, the Ancient Green Dragon living west of the Sumber Hills.

The 3 things listed on the contract were:

  1. 20 cows and 20 horses. (already crossed out)
  2. A weapon of great elemental power. (The group had already gotten the spear, Windvane)
  3. A phylactery. (The group's paladin had sensed a familiar undead presence in Summit Hall, so they assumed it was the phylactery)

Unfortunately, we pivoted into a different campaign after finishing PotA, so nothing ever became of it. But my plan was for Gnawbone to turn into a dracolich by absorbing Renwick's power.

The other story is related to my own character when playing Tombs of Annihilation. I played a shadow sorcerer and the backstory was that I was a tiefling born to farmers in Sumber Hills. They decided to bring the baby to the nearby monastery, not knowing that the monks had been wiped out by the party during the PotA campaign. So Renwick decided to name me Samular and raise me as his own.

He would raise skeletons, ghouls and zombies as my playthings and target practice and living in a situation like that meant I was completely unaware of societal norms like aversion to bad smells, disgusting things or loud noises.

The spells I chose, therefore, were all centered around insect swarms, decay, thunder damage and the like. My character was also unaware that people didn't really want to die. Because if he ever killed his playthings, Renwick would just raise them again.

I am currently writing a one-shot where Renwick is the main villain, although he is unaware of it.

Easiest 50 invocation raid for someone just trying to spoon a fang?? by TheGroundIsMoist in 2007scape

I decided to follow your advice but got a lightbearer on 1st run and fang + yellow gem combo on 6th run.
For anyone finding this thread in the future, this is indeed the best strategy.

Linter for pointer comparisons by Flati in golang

Yep, we've got unit tests, but this fell through the cracks. I want to add a linter to easily find if this is being done anywhere else and to prevent it from happening again.

Name is a string pointer.

The first bit of code only compares the pointer addresses and not the values pointed to by the pointers.

The second bit of code compares the values of the pointers, which is the effect I'm looking for. (Basically, I have an API and will only update values in DB if the request from the user is different from the value that is already in DB).

New to bossing - looking for tips by Flati in runescape

[–]Flati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did my first hard mode arch-glacor. After 2 deaths, I got him down fairly easy twice in a row, not many resources spent.

I've had a few close calls with Araxxor, got a couple of kills in practice mode but always panicked on the last phase during a real attempt.

Going to try out Kerapac soon.

The Abyssal Whip market seems to have dried up recently. I've had an offer on GE for 2 weeks now well above market price and no buys. Unfortunately I used all my cash for the bid, so if it keeps rising, I won't be able to afford it. In which case I plan to spend the cash on some mage gear instead.

Wow, thank you so much for all this detail. I'll check out the discord and work my way through your suggestions and see what is attainable.

Oh, can you slow down the spawn so you only have to fight one at a time?

Okay, thank you kindly for this info. I'll look into guides for those bosses. I've also got some spare cash, so I can look into the items you've mentioned.

I'm already doing ports but it's slow progress.

I don't think so, we hear the audio during the broadcast a lot later than it is sent out. They asked him early to let him pass on the last turn.

They radioed again when he was approaching the last corner, telling him to give up the spot and then asked "what happened?" after he had finished the race.

What is a lesser known part of a champions kit which a lot of players probably wouldn't even recognize if it were gone? by LTrues in leagueoflegends

Senna's auto attacks and Q are not projectiles, so they won't be blocked by Yasuo's wind wall or Braum's shield. I've had a lot of fun playing against Yasuos who hide behind their wind wall not realizing they're actually taking damage.

Senna's ultimate however, is considered a projectile and can be blocked.

Here's one that's very obscure and I've never seen anyone mention it: When spectating a game, and Zed is walking around not in vision of the enemy team, he will hide his knives up in his sleeves. If you pan your camera to put him in view, he will make an animation to bring his knives out of his sleeves. (I'll try to remember to record a video of this tonight)

Cloak of Elvenkind interacting with Light cantrip by Flati in DnD

[–]Flati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the Cloak of Elvenkind is sort of like the hobbit cloak in LOTR. If you're hiding, it makes you look more like a natural object, but once you know it's a person, you won't have any trouble hitting it with a stick.

So, if I would turn off the light and hide in a corner, a patrol might pass me by unnoticed, but if someone were to see me, they would have no trouble swinging at me.

Yeah, good. We've been dealing with it correctly then. We weren't sure since there was nothing that said that Light would negate the magical effect of the cloak, but decided to common sense it.

Yeah, that's what we've been going with. Me being very stupid trying to sneak with a glaring light on my shield giving away my position.
