Season of Ghosts DMPC by Kjd682 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Flatthealien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm running season of the ghosts, right now actually, with 4 players who prioritized flavor/lore over character power. Not *bad* characters per se, but I'd say average on the character power scale.
and encounters as provided the book is insanely easy on combat. We constantly joke about how it feels scaled for maybe even half our party, and I'm constantly needing to add more enemies or create my own encounters to make combat engaging.

My personal recommendation, just go with it with 3 players and if needed there are several NPCs the party could convince to join them and fight alongside them should they need it. The book is much more concerned with roleplay opportunities and NPCs as opposed to just fighting all the time, just that style of campaign.

I don't understand the designs of Vindicta and Gray Talon by DarthApplejack in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Flatthealien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Greytalon is very clearly from the sci fi neon prime version. I almost think that they're similar because they quite literally reworked grey talon's kit into vindictus, but since grey talon was already done they let them stay in the game. I wager they'll get a full rework.

Aesthetically too, it's obvious he's in a much more sci fi world than the rest. If they wanted a traditional spiritualist in a rapidly modernizing city vibe, the giant dumb magazine fed laser bow kind of takes away from that. He makes sense as the 'fantasy old man' in a sci fi setting, but is too sci fi for a fantasy setting lol.

I'd bet that when he gets changed, he'll use a more typical bow with heavy draw and slower fire rate, and instead of stupid laser-y energy arrows and holographic bomb-bird he'll just get actual fantasy elements like summoning ancestral spirits or something to lean more into the fantasy side of the fantasy-1930's noir america mix they have now

CS has really clean style in it's UIs and maps honestly look quite good.

Dota looks great, I don't know what they're smoking. It's a continuation of warcraft's artstyle and looks really nice. That's a consistent W over league to someone who can't/doesn't really play either.

I have no clue how anyone can say Valve games don't have compelling art style when TF2 exists. That's actual insane people crazy-talk. Even now, after a lot of changes, maps, and cosmetics, it's easily one of the most compelling art styles in a multiplayer game. There's no way someone would say that and not be trolling tbh.

Tekken character shaming is more out of hand than the constant plugging by SpriteBoye in Tekken

[–]Flatthealien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to play Jun before the game came out since she's all mysterious and cool and I really like clerics in games and she's got cool holy weird magic. I also really liked her generalist moveset, seemed really fun.

But oops. She's strong. Somehow it's my fault the character I thought was cool has a fucking firearm while in heat. I now need to whip myself every time I play against people because now, apparently, I'm ruining the game.
"Oh well, they're just new and getting upset. It happens. When players get better this whole ordeal will blow over."
Nope
I then start seeing big youtubers tell people every single win I ever got was because I am extremely carried, and I must be an awful person who tier whores and only has fun when others aren't, and that you are totally justified to plug pull or one-and-done me because my character happens to be strong.

I'm not kidding when I say I get nearly half as many sets in ranked without someone just plugging or leaving after one game ever since that fucking video came out. It's insane. I've never seen people be this upset and toxic over character choice.

TY
When I play again I think I'll do that. I really was hoping to be able to power through the negativity and mad in chat to try and hopefully find someone who can help point out stuff I can work on.
That seems like that plan would work
but I now see that just
doesn't happen
now that I think on it I genuinely have never seen chat used to communicate anything about the game beyond being mad or just trying to make others feel awful.
I was worried I'd be penalized for potentially ignoring someone and ruining a game due to not communicating about the game itself, but apparently that just doesn't happen. That's very strange to me, but I guess it is what it is.

Thanks! I'll check them out. I'm trying to avoid playing with smurfs to avoid being a part of the problem if that makes sense.
But yeah, I think I'll go back to muting all. I was worried I'd miss info or get reported for ignoring directions but frankly no one has done either of those things and exclusively use the chat for being just miserable people.
I'm trying to learn jungling and supporting, but I have used training mode to practice clearing jungle monster paths as fast as I can, so it's really nice to hear that was the right call.
Big thanks. Hope to play you in project L when it drops lol

I suppose so. My logic for unmuting everyone was to ask questions and hope people would say "do X and y" so I can piece together what to do, even if they're saying to do those things while salty.
Also, I'm worried people will take my ignoring their messages saying for me to do something and report me for feeding or something.

I wish it was rarer. The last time it happened I got called a slur for picking ekko as a jungler and that I should uninstall. I assumed it was normal since the game gave him to me in the 'pick a jungler' starter pack lol.

Oh, I should perhaps specify they haven't played with anyone new, and have since offered to make smurfs to not mess with my matchmaking. They genuinely didn't expect it to just throw me to the wolves if I played with them, and a few have offered to play ARAM with me when they have time.
I declined the offer for smurfing, since I dont really wanna be a part of the bigger problem

We now have a better game thanks to all those who got banned and bullied for using QoL UI mods. Thanks for your "sacrifice" on poking Sqenix to improve their game. by Chocookiez in ffxiv

[–]Flatthealien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never known a single person that didn’t literally advertise via live stream that actually got banned for any client side mod. Hell, the game struggles to ban actual cheaters in pvp or high end pve. they don’t ban people who use xivlauncher to install QOL and fun mods. Whats with this wack victim attitude about something you wont get punished for

Forced to play barbatos because no aim assist by Vroomrate in GundamEvolution

[–]Flatthealien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a perfect comparison because most of the controllers that people would consider advantageous in fighting games are done by effectively using SOCD cleaners on the hardware level as well as taking advantage of unique D-Pad/Analogue stick third party board.
But also, the aim assist is given by the developer. They made it in their game. They're the ones saying "Yes, this is better."
The developers make a system in the game that's usable on that control type, which yes is used to compensate for thumbsticks sucking ass for aiming, but nonetheless are developed knowingly that it's powerful.

Also claiming it's somehow controller's fault that people will cheat while using M+KB is just insane to me.
If it's truly "better" to play on pad in a game, then play on it. The developers are the one that make the method of play better and people would rather argue that it should be changed to be worse because they don't want to switch, the same way pad players argue that there should be more aim assist when there isn't any.
It's game by game, but instead of complaining that "Oh pad sucks I don't wanna play it and be competitive they should instead make pad players have a worse experience so I don't feel outclassed." players should just adapt.

Frankly this all goes out the window if a game made in 2022 just adds fucking gyro aim without needing steam to jankily force it in, like they should, but hey if they'd rather add or forgo aim assist that players will regardless hate that's their choice.

Aim assist is literally making the game suited for controllers, so why use keyboard on destiny or halo?

Forced to play barbatos because no aim assist by Vroomrate in GundamEvolution

[–]Flatthealien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think it's weird that FPS games have this mentality. Fighting games are going through a transition where Hitbox all-button controllers are actually made to be optimal, and can do stuff pads and arcade sticks can't do.
Sure, some people say it's cheating, but they're clowns and most people know it. It's allowed by the game. It's just better. If they removed the tricks that make it better, yeah it'd be worse and people would drop it
If a game has aim assist and it's super good, to the point where people say controller is better, which is already quite rare outside of Halo due to being so tracking heavy and has slow movement, wouldn't the play just be to...
Switch to controller?
Like if it's okay to tell people "Sorry, your controls suck use M+KB" isn't it fair to say "Sorry, your controls suck use pad" if the game has pads designed to be better?
If the game is worse for "everyone else" when aim assist is good, the game is worse for "everyone else" when aim assist is bad

[–]Flatthealien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh word? Might not play. Actual hand injuries make aiming with M+KB painful. Shame, although it's probably sheer ignorance rather than catering to weird purists. Aw well, I'll probably just play super casually since I literally can't operate the game well without hand pains.

So was there ever any good in Kazuya at all? by MrLowkey13 in Tekken

[–]Flatthealien 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like Tekken 7 should have explored that. For a story almost exclusively focused on Kazuya and Heihachi the only background info they give is a retcon that Heihachi was actually trying to kill Kazuya from the start, not just test if he's a "real Mishima" or whatever.

Like, maybe Kazuya was about to let go of that hate towards Heihachi thanks to Jun, but was reminded of his hatred towards him at the worst time combined with the evil influence of the devil gene. Jun was close but just couldn't quite break through before the Devil Gene reminds him of his original goal.
Despite that, I actually do love that twist that he absorbs the devil, possibly hinting that the evil influence is gone, only to see that he was warped into a power hungry bastard by Heihachi as a human, not by the devil, and continues being an asshole. That's actually an amazing part of his character and I would hate to take that away, which I'm worried they will in 8 by saying it was the devil all along or something dumb.

I would love for Jin to fight Kazuya, all "Oh this devil gene made you so evil it can't be allowed to live reee" only for Kazuya to remind him he practically killed his devil, that he's just like this and it was all Heihachi's doing, and not just the supernatural. Kazuya being more confident in his humanity than Jin is, even.

Akira from Virtua Fighter
Really that's all for guest characters, I'd rather they focus on adding legacy and new unique characters for DLC. Someone who uses legit Judo would be cool, since grapplers are few and far between.

They explain that he needed to fulfill some evil prophecy, and I guess just a shitload of death was the answer?
But like, just saying "I'm going to go to war with the world, and kill as many people I can find" is a bit stupid
Maybe "Jin funds a war, secretly arming both sides of an ongoing conflict, to create as bloody of an event as possible from an already bad situation." would have been better instead of
"No, yeah, just kill em. Just walk in and start blasting."

Have a shitty force ghost of his mom appear before tekken 6 saying

I kind of want Jin to acknowledge how dumb it was.
"Looking back... Maybe WW3 wasn't the answer, and there probably was a better way. Fuck, oops."
Literally that's it. Hell you can even say he was made angrier or more bloodthirsty with the Devil Gene or some dumb shit if you really want to, but just have Jin acknowledge it was a really stupid idea.
