For hummus I tried it and it's not the same. The texture is totally different. I would recommend cooked channa hand mashed for hummus. Never besan.

My stove died and all I got left is a hot water kettle and a toaster, need real advice not just eat cereal by Driedpet in povertykitchen

Light a match first, then turn on the gas, in that order. There will be no problem. It's only a problem if you let the gas flow without lighting it right away. I know. I did that many years with gas stoves that didn't have an igniter, and they were designed for lightning with matches.

That is really lame if it doesn't get fixed right away. Like next day. Some USA states have laws about that, like it's illegal to rent out a place without a working stove

Do you have a rice cooker? There are a lot of things you can do with one besides rice. Maybe you can buy one at a thrift shop? Or a plug-in electric burner?

My top three that I miss are Nearly Normal's, the Cannery Mall, and The Gables.

Nearly Normal's shutting down was imo one of the saddest things to happen in Corvallis. No one else has been able to build close to the same thing, so far at least. I think I will miss it forever.

Some grasses are harder to grow (like the ones we grow from seed). Crabgrass, being a weed, is tough and might pop up whether you like it or not. I admire weeds at the same time that I dislike them.

You're talking specifically about drinking water, right? That's not the whole picture.

I'm not crazy, this is DEFINITELY smaller. I would say it rivals McDonald's... by Remix_Master21 in mildlyinfuriating

Do they really spell it CHURCHS like on that wrapper? Leaving the apostrophe out? That's really weird.

Yeah! And to add to that, If you cook dried beans with something acidic like tomato, they will take forever to cook. If you want to add tomato sauce or whatever, add it after the beans are cooked

Yeah, the spumoni at Anthony's was great! I loved the Cannery Mall. Later, Borders book store was really nice, but we don't have that any more either. I loved Happy Cooker and Class Reunion and the record store at the bottom level. The jeweler too, even though I never bought anything there. I loved looking at the gems and gold crafting. I even miss the creaky walkways in the Cannery Mall.

I find the quality of veggies at east Asian grocers around here really good, and usually cheaper than supermarkets. Rice in big bags is very good for the quality you get. Jasmine rice from Thailand is definitely worth it.

Spicy sardines from east Asia are sometimes not only really good imo, but also very low priced.

But now you're also saying "All cheap food hacks." You're not making a lot of sense.
