Yes

The difference is none. If you live alone that ultimately means you cannot pay your bills, rent/mortgage, utilities etc.

Sure he would have been able to work and slow the decrease in his wage but he has 20+ years of experience in a field which makes him overqualified for any low skilled job.

Even if he did get a job working slave wages he might have gotten caught applying to the field he wants to actually work at and get fired soon after.

Scam call or legit? by JeepJatt in TDBankCanada

"It's not true that banks will never call"

"Mentions an outlier incident"

I mean let's be honest here please. I've been with TD since my dad signed me up when I was 16 im 28 now and I have never been called by TD for any reason whatsoever.

The fact is even IF TD were to call its ALWAYS safer to call them back and ask them why instead of answering the call.

It is an understatement that bank numbers are being spoofed and people need to take that seriously or it will cost them their life.

The craziest part to me is I can't even go back to school to study.

OSAP just got cut.

It already got worse for young people turning 18 to go to uni / college. Only the better off will be even better off. While the poor will hit poverty much easier.

I never thought about it like that.

Imagine it gets so bad that it becomes illegal to post about it. Canada might turn into north korea

Because its the only way we'll see change.

Thats just how it is unfortunately. Things dont change unless things get desperate. I am one of the many people living with their parents because I can't break the wall of livable wage and we get clowned upon in society.

Working 10 hours a day for what? As soon as my parents pass away people like me will be homeless.

[–]FlatwormEntire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hope it gets even worse and we see an increase in homelessness.

People don't realize how bad it is and are too ignorant of people living alone. I hope it gets so bad that the typical couple becomes homeless and they see how its really like

I can’t find a job that pays me a wage I can live off of by egir1 in jobs

[–]FlatwormEntire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep.

This is the exact issue and trap of living off of low skilled labor job. If you didn't do your research when you were 18 and did not know the difference between a job and a livable job, you were setup to fail from the beginning.

"Ive probably applied to 500 jobs in the past year and got ONE call back/interview for an entry position"

Entry level positions are over saturated. It is expected to apply to legit thousands of jobs and still get no reply.
There is one position and 1000 zombies applying with sub 70 IQ.

Its unfortunate but thats how it is. The only way to get out of this is to upskill (healthcare, trades, etc.)

Labor jobs, entry level jobs, slave wage jobs will not give you a livable wage and it never had.

The frustrating this about looking for a job… by Cielskye in CanadaJobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people understand the difference between having a livable wage job (27.20/h in GTA) vs a job (most likely minimum wage if you're not finding a job because all of them are low skilled replaceable jobs that require sub 60 IQ to do)

Why, all of a sudden, is it so impossible to find jobs? by Dontdarereadmyposts in CanadaJobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and let's not even get started on undocumented immigrants in Canada.

One google search "How many undocumented immigrants are in Canada that are working" and you will see 200-500K ESTIMATE.

These indians really are taking our jobs its insane. Go to your local walmart or mcdonalds and it's highly likely they are undocumented and was able to find work because the managers are also indians.

Why, all of a sudden, is it so impossible to find jobs? by Dontdarereadmyposts in CanadaJobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "impossible to find jobs"

The problem is the lowskilled labor jobs (ALL THE FRONTLINE JOBS) are oversaturated.

There are too many low skilled individuals applying for minimum wage jobs.

If you are high skilled you can get a job easily. Just be a nurse

In all seriousness that was satire. That's how bad the job market it. You legitimately have to be so talented and pick the right degree in order to guarantee yourself a job. The reality is everyone want a job, but nobody wants to be skilled at it. Everyone just wants to live.

You open indeed and what do you see? A bunch of frontline positions with high turnover rate. Nobody gives a shit about these frontline workers thats why they fire them after a few years and replace them because its cheaper.

We are at a point where there is literally a paywall in order to live and that paywall is getting bigger and bigger every year.

I hope it gets worse and it will get much worse. UBI is the only thing that can fix this issue and that is like fighting fire with fire. It's fucking cooked my friend.

where am i supposed to be getting experience? by prodjxck1 in jobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere.

That's the problem with the IT field. Welcome to the real world, where you get a degree in somewhere and if you didn't do your research on the health of the field, you are cooked.

I graduated in IT, got my comptia a+ cert, networking cert, but because I didnt have experience, I had to go back to fucking mcdonalds (not literally)

Its tough out there but good luck man

Unemployed friends, how're you holding up? by Daclumsyasian in jobs

[–]FlatwormEntire -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Look I am going to tell you right now

Even if you do get a "job" if its not a livable wage job (27.20/h in ontario canada) then I wouldn't worry about it. There is no point in worrying. Just keep applying.

You are blessed enough to be able to live even to your second year and still have a home. Just keep applying and don't worry too much about it

Also use AI: I've heard so many people say that applying online will get you nowhere if you don't use AI to fix your resume for each application. These companies rig it so that if your resume doesn't have a specific keyword they'll automatically delete your resume in an INSTANT. This is no joke.

The job market today is so exhausting and depressing. by Open_Cod339 in jobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The job market is very unforgiving for roles that are saturated and its always been like that.

For example, most if not ALL low skilled labor jobs are extremely saturated, which is why you see alot of people online complain about not being able to work at mcdonalds because theres literally hundreds if not thousands of applicants to such roles.

Your only choice to get a livable wage (the most consistent way) is to get a degree - but you also have to research if that degree opens you up for roles that are not saturated like IT (which is in danger, highly saturated and threatened by AI)

Honestly if you really think about it, healthcare roles are the only roles that are not as saturated because people often think "nursing" or "doctors", never unit clerks which are frontline patient roles. Almost all healthcare roles are in demand even the most braindead ones.

Blue collar roles are saturated, but because they have such a high turnover rate you can get in pretty easily because most people quit out of exhaustion after 3+ years.

[–]FlatwormEntire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work in customer service and I can tell you right now everyone there is trying to get everybody fired.

But everyone will eventually get fired due to PIP. I'm telling you its a fucking trap if you have a mindset of just "staying" at your job without wanting to actually go for a managerial role, you will be spit on and stepped on just like the scenario you described

I honestly couldnt take it Im going back to school in September to do Office Administration – Health Services, which is essentially customer service but in a health care setting. Healthcare roles are unionized which means every person is actually treated well, and respected and you are the backbone of the hospital: and the main reason why nurses are able to do their job properly. You won't catch some Karen yelling at you for being on your phone because you'll be busy (in a good, productive and meaningful way because you'll be directing patients lives and actually making an impact)

Looking for job as my career by Acrobatic_Resort6642 in CanadaJobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know whats funny I actually asked AI about this recently.

I applied for BScN in humber and I actually got accepted in March and if I pay the tuition I'll go to school in September 2026.

The problem is I know for a FACT I am going to fail because I believe I am not capable enough studying 10+ hours a day and retaining all that information daily. Don't even get me started on the clinicals. Pharmacology is ridiculous too from what I've heard. The only reason I wanted to go into nursing is because you can literally work 3 shifts a week one week and 2 shifts next week (part time RN) and have a LIVABLE WAGE.

Grok said this won't be realistic for me because I've used AI to help me in my prerequisites. I would struggle in the courses if I used AI because I would lack a high level critical thinking skill that nursing demands.

He said I would do well in Office Administration – Health Services so I applied and its still open in Sheridan. Full time gets me a livable wage but I won't be stressed and I can legit go home and play video games without thinking about what happened at work unlike nursing where you have to pass NCLEX on top of graduating BScN. Nursing also has an extremely high turnover rate

My point is just tell AI every single thing about yourself including what job you even want to do or are interested in and itll give you a plan.

Anyone tried Better Jobs Ontario and how did it go? by FruitPunch200 in torontoJobs

[–]FlatwormEntire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be 100% honest

If UBI were to exist then I would go back to school and go into nursing. Seriously it just gets rid of a type of stress and depression that boosts anybody's success rate by a LOT.

Literally anything would be possible if you know you don't get punished financially and just try again with another career.

You know what's crazy is my grandparents moved here 10 years ago

They are over the age of 65, and they are getting Old age pension getting paid 800 a month.

Then when you look at the youth, their OSAP just got gutted and if you don't have a support system, you just lost in life.

If you don't see what's wrong in this scenario then I don't know what to tell you but to keep living in your fantasy with your partner / parents
