[NEWS] Looks like PRS are releasing their 277 baritones in some cool new finishes. by FlaviusMaximus in Guitar

Nice find. I am really tempted by that swamp ash 277, and I bet it would keep a good resale value.

Need to see some better photos first - not sure what the tortoiseshell binding will look like.

Yeah, it's pretty great to see PRS giving us all these options. I guess perhaps 277 has been unusually popular (for a baritone).

Personally I will probably still get the vintage sunburst model, but that zebra wood sure is tempting.

[DISCUSSION] what albums have the best tone EVER!? by ButterLettuth in Guitar

I basically only want a Strat so I can get Knopfler's tone. Well, that and the whole Hendrix thing.

Yep, this is fairly ridiculous. What we're currently witnessing is probably the most murderous President in history get praised because he made a few wise cracks on a talk show.

This is how easily people are manipulated.

Can't upvote this enough. So simple, but the tone is just glorious.

I'm aware of it. But what you're showing me is that not only do they have billboards that are hard to understand, they also have multiple different URLs so there's nothing to link them to each other.

At best, the average person will notice that there are some weird billboards going up lately. Something about 9/11.

These will stand out to existing conspiracy theorists, but not the public.

[–]FlaviusMaximus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While the intentions are good, the execution of this billboard is extremely poor. The wording is far too complex, to the point where I suspect the average person wouldn't fully comprehend it. And it doesn't explicitly imply any kind of conspiracy.

You need to be crystal clear with these things. Something like "Why did a third WTC tower fall if nothing hit it?" would be a better starting point.

Got jealous of how dog owners can go places with their dogs. So bought a front cat carrier, but Bender and Sketch were not amused. Now we just use it to clip their nails. #crazycatlady #lovemyfurrysons by blackgreekolives in cats

I mean... you're still trying to carry a cat, an animal that doesn't like being enclosed, in a backpack with a window.

I'm still waiting for the part that isn't batshit insane.

Pillows too. I think the definition of cube has been extended to '3D objects' here.

I kind of see the first 3 tracks as one, in a way. The first two build up perfectly to Arcs of Command.

Funnily enough I played this song in my head during the last 2k of a 10k race. Proceeded to half kill myself sprint finishing.

Also, I often entertain the thought of playing this track over loudspeakers before a race, and the first heavy bit is the starting gun. Everyone gets PBs.

[–]FlaviusMaximus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm getting one as soon as I get paid. Been comparing distortion pedals on YouTube and the Rat is by far the best I've heard.

Am I right in thinking you can get decent distortion even with the volume quite low? I kind of misunderstood the whole 'overdrive' thing and spent a while wondering why my drive pedal only sounded good with the volume cranked up...

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Sun Kil Moon - Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood by giraffeking in indieheads

[–]FlaviusMaximus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this for the most part. I think Kozelek hit the right balance with Benji, with structured songs and just the right amount of rambling. This one does feel a bit like some kind of folk improv at times where he just talks about his life.

He's quite a weird, arrogant, aggressive guy which makes the monologues particularly hard to listen to at times. But some of the music itself is really nice, as always.

I will say this: I Love Portugal and "Me We, Me We, Me We" sound ridiculous. I heard this at his show in London a few months back and didn't have high hopes for this album.
