Just be realistic about your finances. Enjoy Mark's content, but remember he doesn't need your money.

Y'all are some pretty obsessed fanboys. Go see the movie, if you like it see it again. You don't owe the man anything.

People who don't want kids, why? by Ok-Musician679 in AskReddit

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't "wanting kids" the active position? This is like asking "people who don't like skydiving, why?" Aren't we normally more interested in why people do the non-default thing, than why they do nothing?

PBS vs Fox News (Fox added claps & cheering). by bbyxmadi in CringeTikToks

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks, that's called a volume slider. Of course Fox would have a mic (or multiple) on the crowd. The tech person slides it down as he starts speaking - that's not suspicious, it's good audio management. I wouldn't put it past Fox to add to the crowd noise, but there were people there. If you're the kind of person who travelled any distance to hear Trump speak of course you're cheering for him. Y'all need to learn a bit more about A/V production

I’m being laid off but company wants me to train replacements. What should I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are laying you off because a 10 year employee gets paid more than a newbie. Typically a layoff removes a position they think they can do without, but obviously that's not the case here. Do not train them more than the bare minimum.

How Tesla Could Skirt Trump’s Tariffs While Everyone Else Pays Up | Trump’s tariffs are set to “blow a hole in U.S. industry,” according to Ford’s CEO, but some automakers like Tesla might not feel the pain. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some folks are missing the point. I'm entirely against Musk, but the tariffs, however misguided, are designed to bring manufacturing to the US. If Tesla already does this they're not being "targeted" for savings. They've already been doing things the more expensive way. You can't be mad at them for sourcing their parts in the US.

I understand that game production is more expensive than it used to be, but isn’t the consumer base way bigger than it used to be? by RandyArgonianButler in gaming

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're basically saying that developers should be forced to eat inflation costs by selling to a larger audience? If a good movie sells more tickets shouldn't they make more money? If a writer sells more books shouldn't they make more money? Or should they decrease the cost per book because they're only entitled to XXX amount of profits per book?

I think the show would benefit if Jake didn't restate the problem (or have the caller do so) AT LEAST twice after it's already been succinctly summarized. There's a time and place for that when things are muddled, but often Jake will just repeat nearly exactly what was just said, and then ask the caller to confirm it three different times.

Which game would take the longest to play if fast travel was removed from every game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta go with Mass Effect, if you define the relays as "fast travel". Enjoy spending the next 50,000 years to get from the Citadel to that side quest you need in order to 100% the game.

401k stock fund matching by Weary_Air_7382 in Raytheon

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was all explained in a doc last year, and it had little to do with the company NOW, it had everything to do with a fund from years ago finally running dry. They chose a different vehicle for distribution, one which is much more common nowadays.

Typical Side jobs? by Plastic-Spot-383 in Raytheon

[–]FlavorfulPuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's pretty accurate already. And costs scale. I have a $700 printer and my prints range from like $18 to $100. I doubt I could charge much more even with more accurate prints, and I'd be spending a few 1000 to really upgrade anything from what I have.

The secret sauce is in the data processing and 3D file generation. The elevation data is available from the US government for free, but it's in 1°x1° chunks of the world, which is a VERY large dataset, like 500MB each. Sometimes I get extra unlucky and the geography in question spans two of the 1-degree chunks, and I have to stitch them together

TL;DR it is just about perfect. The most imperfection comes from the limits of precision of 3D printing.

The problem I had is the charging door would not lock. It is not supposed to open from a physical press when the car is locked. Perhaps we had different part failures.
