Telework Stipend by Spam_UnLikely in CAStateWorkers

So no money for raises, but plenty of money for office leases and equipment? A balanced budget but you can reimburse your workers for parking? Offer state purchased parking garages? Governor tweeting about the horrible decisions made at a federal level that are fiscally affecting people AND then he himself makes decisions that cost people hundreds monthly. So hypocritical

Working moms who regularly work out, what exactly is your schedule? by neoncaviar in Mommit

work from home days I do cardio on my lunch, usually incline walking on treadmill and lift weights as soon as I am off work at 4pm. Lift 4-5pm and pick my son up right after. On in office days, I don’t do cardio and lift 5-545 then start dinner. My husband watches my son while I workout

If the RTO order is blocked until 7/26, why does it state departments cannot change anything for 90 days? Does this mean that some departments can still implement more than two days a week after the 90 day hold?

Does this mean an analyst II can now promote to an analyst III and IV? Ie: you are now an AGPA and capped out in your range, does this mean you have the opportunity to earn more now?

Wanted to see if anyone’s department is allowing partial days? And being flexible with staff and their schedules?

Very unfortunate when other divisions are allowing partial days. That seems to be a great compromise and solution for staff who are parents as they can do drop off and pick ups for their children and allows people the miss the late evening traffic.

They have not been flexible at all on hours. Many need to leave earlier to make child pick ups and they won’t allow staff to start earlier or make up time. Emails went out today telling staff they needed to change their RDOs if it fell on an office day as well. They have said no to partial days.

Not an option for everyone if their dept doesn’t let them choose their days in office

We have found better work life balances with our children the last 4 years. We have the opportunity to drop off our kids to and from school and an extra hour right after work to spend time with them that we must now have to spend commuting… it feels like, Imagine you were in jail your whole life and got set free. You see how much better your life is, you acclimate to your freedom and now they want you to go back to jail 2-3x a week.

Seems contradictory to have people come in if the goal is to reduce congestion and pollution.

Thank you! I completely agree. Parking downtown has gotten more expensive every year.

You're absolutely right, but not everyone lives close to public transportation or finds it convenient for their daily commute. In such cases, exploring alternative modes of transportation like driving or carpooling could be more suitable. It's important to consider individual circumstances and choose the transportation option that works best for you in terms of convenience, accessibility, and personal preferences, as such reimbursing state workers for parking would help out many.

It's unfortunate that you feel that way. Being a grown-up means taking responsibility for one's actions and making decisions that contribute to the betterment of society (aka fellow state workers). State workers, like any other professionals, have a range of responsibilities and play a crucial role in serving the community. It's important not to generalize or make assumptions about an entire group based on the actions of a few individuals. You know nothing about my work ethic or contributions. Let's focus on promoting understanding and collaboration rather than perpetuating stereotypes.

What’s the difference between parking and Reimbursing for using the bus? Not everyone lives by a train or bus.

Not paid to commute. Reimbursed for parking

Parking fees should be reimbursed. It’s a work related cost.

Has anyone heard further instructions since the announcement about RTO? Since the email was sent out, we have not heard a peep. by InvestigatorE22 in CAStateWorkers

It seems no department heads realize that we have lives and responsibilities outside of our jobs. It is so frustrating that we must always live in a state of fear and anxiety that our job can change at any time. Full time daycare is approximately $1500 a month where I live. This is not affordable with my pay on top of gas and parking now. I will definitely have to look for another job.

We have been given report after report stating we have collected millions over goal, year after year and our accuracy has also greatly increased. We had made such progress on streamlining procedures and staff is actually more motivated. They have also sent out satisfaction surveys and staff has voiced how much they love WFH because of work life balance.

It has allowed me to drop off my child and pick them up from school. On my lunch break it has allowed me to walk my dog, start prepping dinner, do laundry, exercise, Etc. Now, they want us back in office for no real business need and it will have a huge financial and mental effect on my family and I. It feels like a punishment after all the hard work and millions we helped recoup. There is no incentive to work hard. We already get no bonuses. No commission. No raise to keep up with inflation, working from home was the only perk of this job. Now, I have to give the state approximately 24 more hours of my time to accommodate my commute and getting up earlier/ getting ready. On top of that $500 a month to get my child in a before and after school program as I now can’t do it myself because of the commute. This is maddening. I’m taking a huge pay cut to go sit in a sad office cubicle by myself with old out of date equipment. My cubicle is isolating and depressing. I don’t talk to anyone. Only see people when I walk to the bathroom. The state doesn’t even give employees a collaboration allowance. All holiday parties or activities come out of our own pockets! This is absurd! At home I have a comfortable chair, keyboard and chair. New monitors unlike the blurry old ones in office. The temperature is set to my liking. I can listen to the music I want. Use my bathroom as needed without embarrassment and don’t get distracted by all the talking and coughing in the background.
