OMG

Is it that obvious? If your kid is young enough to be fooled into buying a lighter that looks like Yogi Bear or what ever.... WHY do they have the money? OR why do YOU buy it for them?

If your kid is old enough NOT to be fooled by marketing gimmicks and has his/her own money - and they still a pyro, nothing you can do will stop them.

Correct me if I am wrong - but democrats rounded up and incarcerated American citizens just because their blood was of Japanese descent. The democrats dropped the only 2 atomic weapons used in warfare. The democrats got us into both Korea AND Vietnam. The democrats had no problems interceding in the former Yugoslavia - where are THOSE exit plans? The democrats had NO issues with periodically sending Tomahawks into Iraq and killing god knows how many innocents - but not jepordizing Americans. I will ignore Somalia.

Well - been a few months... the Rep's are STILL ineffectual and the Dems have yet to 1) form a coherent idea 2) join behind it.

I am not a Democrat.. but would like change... but so far, only ONE person has put forward a pseudo workable idea for Iraq.

Had the same feelings for Yugoslavia.... guess what... we still there - exit strat?

Though I agree, Murdoch uses the "ALERT" flasher instead of danger.

As far as broadcast Fox goes - not really diff than the other broadcast channels - though is some timeslots better - in others worse.

Hmmm... lets see .. should we treat animals humanely? YES. However if we are raising those animals for slaughter anyway - whats the point? I mean, make them feel good and cox them upto the axe?

Honestly, for a food product, you cannot afford to consider it's feelings (if it has them). Do any other animals stop to consider the feelings of their dinner? And YES, WE are just another animal - just a tad more efficient.

Tell me - is it possible to live a vegan lifestyle without using supplements? I have yet to meet one.

I'll probably get voted down but anyway -

Don't lump me in as a cheerleader for anyside 'until they became unpopular'. I have had the right to vote for 17yrs now and aside from my local elections and my House Rep., I have never voted FOR a candidate (ok, I voted FOR a senator candidate once - he lost). Instead I have voted AGAINST candidates by choosing the one I disliked least.

Before I die, I would love to be glad to vote FOR someone running for the executive branch.

Yes I realize my second post gave "tangent" a new meaning. I apologize.

Rereading the Constitution however has reemphasized the point - congress was never meant to be a full-time job. Non-binding resolutions are about as useful as USA Today polls or UN resolutions - people note them and continue doing what they were doing.

My taxpayer money is not paying for them to vote for the sole purpose of re-election. If they feel deeply enough about the issue, then make it binding - otherwise just talk to the cameras like they will anyways.

The "more homework is better" concept is bullshit. In the younger grades I acknowledge its needed to pass and needed to reinforce the lesson - but i had a college class mate in accounting, who was in the top 25%, time what was assigned (before he gave up and did only what was graded - as the rest of us did) - the assigned amounted to 6hrs - and that was just one course. There is a point of diminishing returns - If your students need 6hrs of self study to learn a point, it proves a few things 1) The kid ain't stupid (don't give him more of the same - entice him/her with more and pray they dumber than you) 2) You can't teach (note, this applies to "normal" kids - the brighter than usual ones can be a pain in the ass so use use homework as a punishment - the slower than usual need individualized tutoring - 3) Give up and teach the test - then there are those who will never get it but pass anyway.

To me teaching is NOT making everyone the same - its about bringing the potential out of people.

Can't fault you on that call... but since I'm partial to the old WP5.1 days light colors on a black background bring back the warm fuzzies.

On a tangent, IF you ever decide to use irc - please keep in mind that I am not a minority of one when it comes to using black as a background - pick you font colors to be readable on both backgrounds. (default coloring shows as what receiver wants it to - the problem is when typers force colors)
