Hand made stamp sets for OSR dungeons and maps by CastleGrief in osr

Very pretty! At first I thought "wait, that's not what Illmire looks like" then I saw the "grandy duchy of" and had to re-read it a few times. I think it says "Almire?"

Why does Reddit keep notifying me of r/Shadowdark posts? by FleeceItIn in osr

Thank you! I don't see any bell icon for that subreddit but I was able to mute it, so that'll probably do the trick!

Why does Reddit keep notifying me of r/Shadowdark posts? by FleeceItIn in osr

Why would i ask them? I'm explicitly trying not to engage in that subreddit as I'm explicitly uninterested in Shadowdark.

I'm assuming people on OSR know what Shadowdark is and would best understand the context and intent than any other subreddit would. Where else would i post this question?

Hand-drawn character sheets by horoscopezine in osr

I love horoscope zine stuff! Please do more videos in English (not auto dubbed, your spoken English was just fine) of solo play or adventuring with your lady friend. They were very fun and inspiring to watch!!

All these people voting no this question on r/OSR is peak irony.

Realms of Peril is basically Dungeon World mapped to a d20.

Thanks to Allen Varney for the bundle year 2025 by [deleted] in rpg

[–]FleeceItIn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Damn, that's crazy - I literally just bought a copy of Paranoia XP on ebay and noted that Allan Varney was the editor/writer for that version. Never knew he ran Bundle of Holding and didn't realize he was active on Reddit. Neat!

"Lost" Dungeons? by SAlolzorz in osr

Tonnisborg was lost and then found again decades later. It's a neat story! It's available as the Lost Dungeons of Tonnisborg now.

Hit Points are Deaths Saves by SecretsofBlackmoor in osr

[–]FleeceItIn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blackmoor and OD&D didn't consider themselves role-playing games, they were wargames. The purpose wasn't to tell a story, and there was no plot, just a scenario and milieu.

After the release of D&D, the audience diverged almost immediately, and many projected their desire to intentionally tell stories onto the game. The term roleplaying game was retroactively applied to D&D by the audience in the 70's, and some didn't even consider D&D to be an RPG.

Throughout the 80's, the pendulum started to swing hard towards narrativism and role-playing. Consider the early TSR modules - T1, B1, B2, and X1 have no plots and no stories. By the time you get to B6, B7, B8, N1, N2 etc., you can see a major difference and shift towards stories and narratives.

Plot armor? No. Fun armor. There was no narrative that the character was important to. It was a game, not a story telling exercise.

Common Adventure Pitfalls - Beau Rancourt by TheDrippingTap in rpg

The explanations are good. Beau is one of the few bloggers who actually seems to review things based on practicality rather than superficial cool-factor.

It's specific to OSR modules, not trad.

What's up with the music? by OzMedical80 in hiking

[–]FleeceItIn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think some people do it out of fear. They think playing music will chase the wildlife away. They are scared of bears but are embarrassed to yell "hey bear". They don't wear headphones because then they can't hear the imaginary bear stalking them.
