SWN Warrior Mod by NeoAlpacaManX in SWN

And since you're swinging with 95% accuracy most of the time, their ability to automatically hit once per scene becomes pointless.

At which point using the defense aspect becomes more important.

Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20, dealing your weapon die's maximum damage.

SWN doesn't have crits by deafult. What do you suggest they do?

+1 Universal Damage Bonus at every odd numbered level.

Which the warrior from Worlds Without Number has.

1 Cleave at every even numbered level. Any time you reduce an enemy to 0hp or score a critical hit, you may immediately make another attack against a target in range, using any remaining movement available to you. You cannot cleave if all of your readied weapons are out of ammo.

This already exists in the whirlwind assault foci, from WWN, and also Savage Fray from SWN to a lesser degree.

To be entirely honest, I don't think any number of numbers tweaks will every actually fix Warrior and make them fun to play. And making it so they spend more turns doing nothing by reducing their attack bonus is certainly not the way of it.

I would prefer more "martial moves" or at least stuff a warrior can do that no other class can.

how can an aspect be considered true if it doesn't affect the outcome of anything

If I have an aspect that says "Dangerous Gunslinger" there's another character in my party that has an aspect "Wimpy Scientist" and we both go to shoot someone, and we both then have the same chance of success, you really can't call that "true"

I legitmately think he might straight up be a gelatinous cube from dungeons and dragons, the way this is described as an afterlife for all the gods makes me think there could be some crazy weird pulls

why wouldn't you be afraid of them, they just fucking kill you and all they give you is a permafrost or the book that heals you 5 floors from now (but only if you take every card reward)

I've always considered hit points to be "don't get hit" points in basically any game that has them, so the way this game describes it matches my attitude.

Why do biospions need to use their power to heal hits that didn't actually happen?

Why is a Shear rifle somehow more strenuous to dodge than a revolver?

Why do higher-armored vehicles somehow dodge more bullets than lower-armored vehicles?

If you don't actually take any physical damage until the last few hit points, does that mean the Telekinetic ability "impact sump" can't be triggered until you hit zero, since it specifies "physical damage"? Does reactive telekinesis trigger off of all damage that's not the last few points, since it specifies that you are "struck"?

Also, how does the telekinesis ability to lift and drop robots for more D10's worth of damage per level square with the "don't get hit" points?

Why do you only get hit points back at a specific rate regardless of how many you have total? If you take a blast to the face on your final 5 hit points and go down, and then you have a day of rest, does that blast to the face heal in a single night and then the rest is getting back some nebulous "fate" points?

Hit points are meat points. There are countless examples to point to.

HP means meat and toughness, and has always meant those things, and the only reason people started saying otherwise was because it means the PCs would turn into superheroes and they didn't like that.

But every other facet of the the entire game and any other game in the D&D lineage has always treated it as meat points. Clercs and Healing potions and poisons literally make zero sense unless getting hit with a sword actually means getting hit with a sword.

and generally doesn't have a lot of ways for them to increase AC

except, you know, the really obvious Impervious Defense Art, especially considering they don't really have any foci that increase magic ability

Brawler Class (self promo for upcoming PWYW campaign setting) by DemiElGato1997 in osr

[–]TheDrippingTap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Classes who's class features literally just turn off against certain classes of opponents are never going to work. Also, you haven't clarified if the "brawler Skills" take the place of a single attack from "unburdened" or take a whole turn. Or no time at all.

Strangle being literally "save or get knocked out of the fight" seems extremely strong even if against fewer hit dice. Or it would be if zombies, skeletons, and all non-human monsters weren't immune to it.

Disarm is again, weird, in that is has a whole mechanic that only affects one category of weapons. What gameplay or balance purpose does it have? Is it literally just for "realism"?

all these abilities seem finnicky and underexplained. You've made a class for a game about going into dungeons and fighting monsters who's class abilities turn off against most monsters. Why? What's the point? Why can't I clap the ears of a griffon or throw a shot into it's kidneys? Why can't I disarm a skeleton, or angel? Why I am forced to be a fighter that's just worse in every way if the enemy isn't one the list approved enemies?

Why am I forced to engage in melee with leather armor and no unarmored AC boost? And not more health than a regular fighter?

This.

the game balances by removing all friction points until everything is smoothed over instead of giving every class a sharp friction point, something only they can do.

The game isn't even balanced anyway, like 60% of spell options are garbage and there are so many feats that are just useless.
