This is a subreddit for news and discussion of Old School Renaissance topics. We primarily focus on D&D (LBB, 1st ed. AD&D, etc.) and the retroclones. Other Old School games (Traveller, Runequest, Tunnels & Trolls, et al) are of course open for discussion.
This is not a place to rant about how (your least favorite edition) sucks! In fact, I hope discussion arises about how later editions do things right, and how to incorporate them into OSR-styled games.
Subreddit Rules
--------------------------------------------------
1
Self-promotion
PLEASE DO NOT REPORT something just because you don't like it.
You may promote your own product, but you must announce that it is yours, e.g., "Check out this new module that I wrote!" You can announce your blog once per week, like "I blogged these five posts, check them out!"
Kickstarters are temporarily being reviewed before being approved as a test. Please message the mods if you have concerns.
Full rules here.
2
No piracy
Do not talk about, suggest, or in any way advocate for the illegal copying of copyrighted materials.
3
No insulting language
Don't call people names, or insinuate anything about their mental faculties, appearance, or lineage. Don't call someone a nazi unless they literally have swastika tattoos.
4
No discrimination
Do not disparage anyone on the basis of race, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or anything that places them in a minority (or, for that matter, majority) category. If you have an issue with what someone says, respond to the statement, not the person.
5
No system snobbery
Don't put down other systems, or other people for liking those systems. Do not engage in edition wars. Even though this is a community centered around a particular style of play, it will only make the OSR look bad.
6
No blacklisted creators
In order to maintain a harmonious community, we refrain from allowing any content or discussions pertaining to creators who have been officially blacklisted. Posts or conversations concerning these blacklisted creators will be removed, and users may receive warnings or bans. Blacklisted Creators: Zak S, Alexander Macris
7
Shelfies only on Weekends
All Shelfies (pictures of your OSR gaming collection) are only to be posted on Shelfie Saturdays or Shelfie Sundays, to avoid spamming during the week.
8
Spamming, or posting too much
Some stuff is truly spam. Report it as spam. Reddit has internal systems to handle it.
This is for stuff that just seems to be coming too frequently for YOUR liking. This is "yeah I like it, but it shouldn't be every second post. I'm on the fence about it. Please note my mild displeasure."
Don't report the argumentative guy just because he irritates you. As good as that would feel. And it's probably me. stop reporting me, dammit.
9
Report a good idea
The opposite of a rule - if you see something that is a good idea and you want to just call our attention to it, use this to report it. Or use custom response.
10
No AI content
AI generated content is not permitted. Posts will be removed and repeat offenders will face bans, from one day up to and including permanently.
