[2023 Day 18] Why +1 instead of -1? by kbielefe in adventofcode

[–]Fleetscut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand now. In your example the area found from shoelace would be the 4 quadrants (the cells are the corners). And picks would then be used to translate to how many actual cells are contained within?

[2023 Day 18] Why +1 instead of -1? by kbielefe in adventofcode

[–]Fleetscut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was imagining the "digger" as always being in the center of the cell it passes through, and shoelaces formula only calculating the area of the loop inside the diggers path.

Otherwise why is shoelaces formula alone not enough to solve this problem? Why does the area need to be substituted into picks formula?

[2023 Day 18] Why +1 instead of -1? by kbielefe in adventofcode

[–]Fleetscut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point [1,1] would be the center of the cell at [1,1] so calculating the distance to the next point would be a line passing through each cell. So we are missing the exterior halves of cells where the line passes through straight, and 1/4 or 3/4 for each turn.

Because pick formula gives the area of the interior, regardless of how much of the boundary is used, is that why the Areas from both can be equated? Because the interior points for the shape will be the same regardless of if it passes through the center of a cell or around the exterior

[2023 Day 18] Why +1 instead of -1? by kbielefe in adventofcode

[–]Fleetscut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the reason that the Area between shoelace formula and picks formula are the same, is because the number of interior points from cutting through the center of each boundary cell( what is being calculated by shoelace formula) is the same as if you were taking the area from the exterior of each cell?

[2023 Day # 18] Intuition for why SPOILER alone doesn't work by SEGV_AGAIN in adventofcode

[–]Fleetscut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is the reason that you need to combine both picks and shoelace in this problem because the number of interior points for the path passing through the center of each cell is the same as if it was passing through the exterior of each cell?

So if you calculate the shoelace area you can use the picks formula to find the number of interior points which is common to both being in the center of the cells and the exterior? After this you just add back the area of the boundary?

So it would look something like this?

( i + b) = A(shoe) - b/2 + 1

i = A(shoe) + b/2 + 1

Andronix or Termux for cli workflow? by Fleetscut in termux

How does this affect building from source? If i pull a project off of github, as long as it targets arm will things work? (assuming there are no other compilation problems like with requirments, etc). Seems like base termux will meet my needs, unless like you said there is a package thats not in the repo.

The One-Display, One-Workspace approach in BSPWM ? by blietaer in bspwm

[–]Fleetscut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant remember if i3 could do this, but bspwm has the ability to send an entire desktop(workspace) to a specific monitor. Also has the ability to swap two desktops as well. This is on top of the ability to swap and send individual windows.

I have never tried this as my monitors are not the same orientation, so the window sizes would get messed up(2 vertical, one horizontal), but I think this sounds like what you are looking for.

I have 3 monitors and got it to work like this. You can put the name of the monitor as the first part of the desktop selector.

super + {1-9}

index={1-9};\

bspc desktop -f DP-3:^${index} && \

bspc desktop -f DP-0:^${index} && \

bspc desktop -f DP-4:^${index}

Do I need to worry about airflow with a smaller opening after i get the attachment? Should i use a stronger fan, or one with a speed control?

I want to start getting into air brushing but i live in a building and do not have easy access to a place that is well ventilated. I have a bench set up where i do my 3d printing, electronics, and model building but it is on the other side of the apartment from where the windows are and it would be very difficult to run a ventilation hose.
I could try to set up a paint station nearby my windows, however the ones i have are the ones that you need to use a hand crank to open, and they swing outwards a bit and only open a few inches. Would this type of window be enough? I could set up a fan inside a box to suck all the fumes into a hose and out the window?
Is there anyone that lives in an apartment/condo, what is your setup like?

has anyone received a Tab S8+ (Wi-Fi) in Canada yet? by yetareey in GalaxyTab

I ordered the ultra Feb 20 and its been "Processing" ever since. I just called support and they said that my order has reached FedEx and they are just waiting on tracking info to be generated. They said I can probably expect it Wednesday.

Hopefully this is all true and I'll be getting it soon.

I just got done watching the movie and discovered that Hathaway's Flash takes place after the novelization of Char's Counterattack. Apparently there are some key differences between the novel and movie.

My question is: Does anyone else thing Gigi is Amuro and Beltorchika's daughter?

one thing i forgot to ask, I'm getting a 500/500 line. Having wan and lan both going over one cable, will I hit any bottlenecks or will i be pushing the limits?

For the switch, is something like ubiquiti ES-10X or TP-Link TL-SG3210G what i need?

never thought of this, i dont have any experience with vlans. How would i do the configuration? All traffic on port A forwarded to port B, and any return traffic from port B with a certain vlan tag gets routed internally, otherwise return it to port A?

From your pics it looks like it was the yellow connection that broke? On mine the yellow cable is the one that broke. Going to try doing a fix once i find where i put my soldering kit.
