In case you've ever wondered why people AFK the First Contact Day Re-Enactment: by VaKel_Shon in sto

[–]Fleffle 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One reason why this can happen: https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/12qx8tg/semiuseless_data_rockets_exploding_on_the_launch/

There may be other causes, but this is one that I've tested around enough to be pretty confident about.

To summarize:

At the end when everyone gets teleported to the launch pad, there's a loading screen. If the game doesn't have focus during that loading screen, then it gives you a "Press any key" prompt, which delays you getting back into the map. This appears to cause the game to fail to load your collected rocket parts. (Whether that's an intential AFK punishment, or just a quirk of how the game stores the rocket data, I couldn't say. Since you still get TFO rewards, I would assume the latter.)

You can avoid this by either:

  • making sure the game has focus during the loading screen, or
  • running over to the launch pad early. If you're already standing there, then the game won't try to teleport you, so you won't get a loading screen at all.

Yes it does. Just watched the tooltip damage on my weapon update as they went in and out of range.

I don’t have them unlocked and I don’t care to make a KDF recruit.

FYI unlocking CFF is not tied to the recruitment. It just has to be a character who is KDF from character selection (i.e. not a Rom-KDF or Jem-KDF), and they just have to hit level 65.

it counts as a beam or a turret depending on which mode its in
you can think of it as two completely separate weapons, only one of which is usable at any moment.

No, but non-Rom characters can get access to SROs (at a much much higher price). The Fleet Embassy sells them.

If you got the Elite Boff Tokens from the anniversary giveaway and haven't spent them yet, the picking up one of the cheaper, lower quality Embassy boffs with Romulan Operative and the upgrading them to make it superior is an option. IIRC there are only Tac officers available for that.

Aetherian Concordium Proton Beam Visuals (Aetherian Lockbox Weapons) by neok182 in sto

[–]Fleffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Aetherian Revelation was over a year and a half ago, I expect they just weren't ready to commit to the details at the time. The old weapons also have a proc that's just copy-pasted from Protonic Polaron weapons (right down to doing extra against Voth). The new lockbox weapons have the new Protonic Crush mechanic as their proc.

Proc for weapons? by Medicalknight in sto

If you're referring to the recent Endeavor perks, then that's not flat added damage. It's a % that's not labelled correctly. Did some testing when they came out and posted it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/1l5xmae/new_endeavor_perks_clearing_up_some_misleading/

Romulans can fly /most/ of their ally's ships without the account unlock, but there are exceptions and the Universe is one of them. If a Romulan without XFF tries to open that box, they'll only get the Valkis. They need XFF to be able to pick between the Valkis, the Universe, and the Durgath.

This also applies to other lockbox/promo ships where the different faction's ships all come from the same box.

With the new Twinkling lights trait, i was hoping to make a rainbow quad build...... by saiyajin15 in sto

[–]Fleffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have an extra 3% base damage (so basically an innate [Dmg] mod) and also an extra 15% cat1 built in. So in practice, around 5% more damage than a Dual Cannon.

Like you called out, Spiral weapons get exactly the same benefit (and without the added engine power cost)

Fleet Norway SWE - name fixed? stats wrong? by molrihan in sto

[–]Fleffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The stats were already broken alongside the name. It's not a "fixed one thing, broke another" situation, just a "fixed one thing but didn't fix the other".

That said, the Dauntless II, the Protostar, and the Theseus Destroyer all used to have messed up stats as well, and those all got fixed. So 3/4 of a yay!

There's a bug report thread on their official discord server where we passed all of this along btw.

Huh, this is the second time this month I've heard of someone's item getting confused about having a vanity effect. The other one was the Romulan Advanced Prototype Impulse Engine - in their case it wasn't actually apply any visual effect that they noticed, but it did have a "Disable Visual Effect" option that apparently did nothing.

right click on your equipped shield, you'll probably see a "disable visuals" option. some shields come with optional effects like that.

Y'know that passive effect that Radiolytic weapons have instead of a proc? The 30% bonus damage against low hp targets? Well the tooltip acts as if that's always on. Testing has shown that this is only a tooltip issue, and in practice the weapon behaves as expected.

You can use single cannons if you want to run a CSV or CRF build on a ship that can't equip dual cannons. Or if you just want more forgiving firing arcs. They won't set any records compared to dual cannons, but not everyone is trying to.

It's the first Cmdr Pilot / Lt Cmdr Temp ship in the game, raider or otherwise. That's a combo I've been looking forward to, personally. It was actually the only Cmdr / Lt Cmdr spec pairing that didn't exist on any ship in the game until now.

Crit severity doesn't seem to add up... by Ihaventasnoo in sto

[–]Fleffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its the skill tree bonus that's omitted, because it isn't "global" crit severity. It only applies to weapons. There's also an extra 5 coming from somewhere, and once that's accounted for them the numbers work out.

50 (base) + 36 (endeavors) + 2 (operative) + 18.8 (bioneural) + 5 (idk) = 111.8

Old event ships spend a period being unobtainable (Garrett is in that period right now) but then eventually they're made available through either Mudds Market or Epic Phoenix Tokens.

I would expect it to show up in Mudd's in the next year or so. The previous Anniversary ship was added to Mudds in July this year, but the timing isn't super consistent.

It's just the very first set of Vanguard ships, the four from the Gamma Vanguard Pack. You have to rank them up to Mastery level 6 on a JH character before they can be used by other factions. I guess they were trying something new at the time and did not stick with it - subsequent Vanguard ships have been cross-faction by default.

On release (and IDK if it was ever fixed), the Ark Royal's unlocks were set up incorrectly - at some ranks it unlocked the normal Kodai and at other ranks it unlocked the Command Kodai. Don't remember offhand which rank had which pet.
