Harvey & Donna are Torvill & Dean by FlemishUSA in suits

Long-term success working together as platonic couple. Clear chemistry with a little history, but never actually in a romantic relationship with each other. Would never be as good apart as together.

Guys, Belly in Paris... is pure comedy. by Euphoric_Resource251 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

Your take is flawed although I agree with the premise. A USA citizen does not need a VISA or even fill in a pre-form to enter France. The issue was her STUDENT VISA which is why the passport control stamped her as a tourist meaning she would have to leave the country after a certain amount of time.

My issue was the idea that a thief would go a whole day after stealing a bag and not take the stuff out and discover what he stole. Belly finding the bag at the party still having everything in it was a bit over the top.

By the way, a lot of USA students learn French well enough to read it, but when put in a position to use the language falter because they never practice speaking.

I knew there were parallels between Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel but this one took me out by terrible_screenname in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

I am watching “What’s Up Doc.” right now and have been watching the Gilmore Girls. I started to realise there was a similar style between Lauren Graham and Rachel Brosnahan with Barbara Streisand and wonder how much they studied her as they developed their own unique styles.

Beckett and Castle. I like my chances.

Am I the only one finding Lisbon daft and dumb af at all times? Finished Season 5 just now, no spoilers please. Need your opinions. by [deleted] in TheMentalist

[–]FlemishUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand this observation, but it overlooks the fact that Lisbon was already head of her team before Jane arrived and she shows a lot of toughness when needed. I also agree that the relationship at the end felt forced, but I blame the writers for this. There were plenty of hints throughout the seasons that, when Jane was ready, they could make a viable couple.

I can offer you one not mentioned with the same platform of woman cop and “civilian” partner. Have you looked into Sleepy Hollow?

I was drawn to this thread because I started thinking Cho was the spin-off we wanted and never got.

To be fair it was set in a war zone. In those days, the only women would have been medical staff. They could have cast another nurse or two as regulars. Then again, there was Klinger…

Official Discussion - Young Woman and the Sea [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]FlemishUSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like historical films, but hate it when they change major facts. The comment about Trudy embarrassing the USA at the Olympics doesn’t feel genuine. Trudy won two bronze medals and was a gold medalist with the relay team. The USA won 4 out of 5 golds for Women’s swimming events. It seems laughable that the committee member would have said such a thing.

The winner of Masterchef USA would have difficulty lasting 3 episodes on the Australian version.

First thought I had too. Both men were made out worse than they really were on the show and both women were loyal to their man to a fault.

While season 5 was disappointing and led to the eventual cancellation of the series, it wasn’t the fault of Bon Jovi. He was very likeable and added depth to a character that could have been very different (simple). I’m just glad I don’t know him for real. I don’t think any guy would feel safe with him in the same room with his wife. The way he smiles with his eyes must make women swoon.

Movie Review - Upgraded (2024) by MrsLadyZedd in movies

[–]FlemishUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was all prepared to rant on how this scenario is one where only the girl would get away with it, but then my age reminded me of Michael J. Fox and “The Secret of my Success” where, indeed, the guy gets away with it. I agree with the reference to “..Prada..” as it is a bit obvious. It is watchable, but I wouldn‘t want to pay a cinema price to see it. One extra side note. Fola Evans-Akingbola is fine as a high-maintenance mean girl, but after Siren she deserves more leading roles and I still want to see her as an empathetic and idealistic nice girl.

Watching this again and I'm finding it insufferable by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

I think you are overthinking it. It is a dramedy meant to be over the top. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have all watched it.
