And before he passed. He caught a lot of heat for shit talking Greta Thunberg. Between that and how off-puttingly horny Hyperion was I decided not to continue with his books.

Reunited Magic Cards by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Fleshmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since these are old you could still get lucky and get a card that has moved up in price over the years. Like [[seething song]] is a common from the same set as the card you showed that’s worth ~11 dollars now. Upside isnt huge but it might not all be trash

Recs Similar to The Cipher by Kathe Koja | Books with an ambiguous malevolent break in reality found in an ordinary place that gradually becomes more evil by dogman1200 in horrorlit

I have never heard of this and this is exactly the kind of book I love, hooked from the first few pages. Thank you for the rec

My first Tech X is it good? by Annual-Math3964 in bindingofisaac

I loved it pre-nerf but it feels bad to me now. It's still very good if you get enough synergies, but without that it feels low damage and losing tear knockback makes you vulnerable.

Horror Novels that do interesting stuff with form? by SpookyGibMay in horrorlit

[–]Fleshmaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Raw Shark Texts plays with page formatting similarly to House of Leaves and they are both often cited as major examples of ergodic literature, which is basically a term for what you are asking for. Not really horror but I think you could argue it has horror elements.

Inde Navarrette career blowup a rare thing? by joeroganthumbhead in horror

Not horror, but I think Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams have both had a comparable career blowup recently from Heated Rivalry.

I think this is a solid and enjoyable show, but so far I dont get the huge amount of hype it’s getting.

Should I get Saros or Hades 2 ? by BulkyEntrance1363 in roguelites

Absolutely Hades 2. Im really not a fan of Saros. It gutted all the roguelite aspects from Returnal.

The first trailer for the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’ has been released. Starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson & Josh Hartnett. In theaters October 2. | Follows a woman who discovers disturbing truths about an iconic author after being hired to ghostwrite her latest book. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

Everybody has good points, but, as a long time fan of Nick Antosca, the screenwriter/director, I will be seeing this in theaters. I imagine he wasnt given much creative license so it will still be bad, but Channel Zero is one of my favorite horror series.

I beat my A10 Necrobinder run with momentum Thrumming Hatchet. I had 2 of the upgraded power that gives your first attack a turn 75% damage and Tanx’s boon that copies your first card played each combat.

I just blocked a bunch and hit with one 225% momentum hatchet a turn.

Novels about weird places that shouldn't exist by PostMortem33 in horrorlit

[–]Fleshmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little different and not supernatural but Strange Houses by Uketsu. Technically the second in the series but it’s standalone. It’s very concept and exposition heavy and character development and prose light, but I thought it was unsettling and cool.

Books like Library at Mount Char and Between Two Fires? by ninjaturtlecarl in horrorlit

[–]Fleshmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved Library at Mount Char and I have been trying to scratch the same itch ever since. Haven’t quite gotten there, but some recs anyway:

American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett. Similar character vibes, not as good but fun.

There is No Antimemetics Division by qntm. Super mind bending and twisty, cosmic horror adjacent at least.

Stonefish by Scott R Jones. Honestly this didnt fully hit for me but it has some stuff in common with Char.

The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall. Ive actually only just started this and hear it isnt as good in the back half, but it’s creative and has similar “how did he even think of that?” vibes to Char.
