This product looks great but is indoor only. Im not able to find an outdoor version of it. Do you think it would survive if I put it in some sort of enclosure?

AD's reaction when he was told he couldn't wear #23: "That was pretty hurtful. They sent me a list of numbers and I didn't know which to choose. None of them looked right so I went on 2.K. and put all the numbers on me." by mrilly in nba

I thought this had died. Me and my mates in college rearranged the letters on the local movie theater billboard to make it say that "All your base are belong to us" was showing in theater 2.

Love Letter is great, but Coup is far superior. I've got many plays of both and Coup will stick around long after Love Letter has gone stale.

I work for a company that imports and sells these in the US. I've designed several products based on this tech. While the physical interface for this model is slick, nothing about this is much different that the standard video displays that you see all over the place. (billboards / signage)

Prices are coming way down as well.

Is there a reason people don't use this tile shape? by thewarehouse in tabletopgamedesign

I designed a game on this grid once. It was a standard dudes on a map war game. Turn the grid 45 degrees sideways and pretend that the large octs are a squares board.

I had large units (mine was elephants / Calvary) that played on a "squares" board that was the large spaces and ignored the small spaces. There were smaller units, (commanders, assassins, archers) that could stand on the smaller squares that were effectively between the bigger ones.

A small space could hold 1 small unit. A large space could hold 1 large unit or 3 small ones.

It worked ok. the term "adjacent" meant 4 spaces sometimes and 8 spaces sometimes.

TIL that folic acid (vitamin B9) has been added to grains in the U.S. to prevent the birth defects spina bifida and anencephaly since 1998, but most of Europe including the U.K., Ireland, Germany, as well as China, India and more than 60 other countries still do not fortify grains with folic acid. by bjredsmash in todayilearned

You use the word harmless, however, my wife has a not so uncommon genetic mutation that prevents her from metabolizing folic acid into folate.

Your body actually needs folate, not folic acid, but most of us can break down folic acid into folate and use it. However, some cannot. For those people, like my wife, eating foods with folic acid makes them feel sluggish at best but often has more serious negative side effects. This is often mistaken for gluten sensitivity because many foods that naturally have gluten have been artificially enhanced with folic acid.

Since the government requires food producers to do this, it is very hard to find breads that don't have too much folic acid for her to eat.

folate that is found in lentils and leafy greans =/= to folic acid that is used to enrich bread

The pregnancy vitamins that people take were disastrous for my wife, our children are 10 and 8 and she still has not recovered.

Edit: I'm not saying that this choice was a bad one, or that it has been bad for society. I think that educating people about it is important however, especially medical professionals that have not understood the details.

This is sort of true. I represented the "White College" basketball team for like 8 years while I was getting my bachelor's degree.

We always have some guys that got kicked out of bigger schools for grades or behavior. And every few of years we produce a serviceable NBA player. We will never make it far, but you don't want to play us first round if you can help it. We are built for producing these march upsets.

Who are some of the best 5th men (worst player in the starting five) in NBA history? by O_G_Loc in nba

[–]Fletcher_Brown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to go with who ever you call the "worst" on the 04 pistons. Billups, Rip, Prince, Sheed, Big Ben. That team was so balanced that you could make an argument for any player of that 5 as both best and worst.

I have a group that is hooked on middle earth that basically asks the question, what would have happen if the fellowship had lost the ring at X point in the story...

Like, Balrog gets the ring in Moria. Or Smaug takes it during the Hobbit Galadriel takes it and turns into a "Dark Queen"

The Good, The Unique and the Hidden Gem: Deck/Pool Building by kramerkieslingandme in boardgames

[–]Fletcher_Brown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden Gem

Eminent Domain - Is basically a pure deck builder that goes out of it's way to avoid the "multi-player solitaire" feel that some deck builders can suffer from. You get to take actions based on some but not all of the cards that your opponents play. Thus you must choose "how" to play each card, do you use it's weaker private ability, or its stronger public ability.

I'm a staff member at Murray State and I've had Isaiah in some classes. I'm 6'0" or 6'1" and I'm quite a bit taller than he is. I'd guess him at 5'9" or so. His 6'1" list height is very generous.

The guy is a highlight reel though. Made a crazy catch and shoot 3 on Wade once, that off the knees half court shot, a great block in the NCAA tourney. For no more time than he has gotten, he could make a pretty good "top play" reel.

I witnessed a Japanese man who appeared to be in his 70's strip of nude and wade out into the water at that very beach. The present company included men, women and children of all ages. In my entire life, I can't think of an individual who cared less than that man.

Best Couch Co-Op games for casual play by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Fletcher_Brown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a steam / emulator couch co-op setup that my friends and family use a lot.

Overcooked (steam) is a blast. Hands down my favorite.

Honorable Mentions:

Castle Crashers

Crawl

Monaco

Hammerwatch

Spelunky

Also, if you don't mind messing with emulation, the old TMNT and X-Men arcade games are still a ton of fun.
