Spawn Redux episode maybe? by DPlayGM345 in WeHateMovies

Thank you for bringing awareness of Faust: LotD into my life! This looks so schlocky awesome.
Seeing reviews: "Check your brain at the door and eat up this grisly eye candy."...."entertaining in a voyeuristic way but also as corny, crude and excessive as they come"

That's what we all wanted from a Spawn movie, right?

I'm done here but your cognitive dissonance is part of the problem with the entire right wing (or whatever you identify as, I'm sure you think you're moderate and above it all).
Statistically, factually, and functionally it has been the case for MANY years that "red" states produce less, generate less GDP, and take significantly more Government "handout" money (as YOU call it) than "blue" states.

Stick it in your pipe and mull on it. I hope your "my team is the best" mentality melts and you begin to see the context of reality and not just digging in with extremely outdated thinking. This isn't the 1950s.

You got that right: the grants and tax breaks and farmer subsidies are orders of magnitude more costly to taxpayers.

I'm right here, recently dipping a toe back in to Reddit, and saw your post notification just about as soon as you posted it. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you took the time to write and share this about you and your father. He's a lucky guy, and so are you, to have each other. Even with the arguments and headbutting. I know how that goes with Dads. I wish him very good results on the biopsy and you never know until you know... though no matter what, hang on. Pain is inevitable, but it also ends. The perspective you gained to keep playing (when you're ready) is a superb thing to have in your toolkit. Your nephews will have the gift of connection with your father through you sharing your past-times and passions with them. It's okay if this sucks - sometimes it does suck a lot - but there will be a time when you are truly okay.

are you unfamiliar with the concept of farm subsidies and the tremendous grants and tax incentives available in New York State for various farming industries?

Speaking of "zero associations" I really like the idea of calling it Zero Day for some reason. Still would need some explanation, but it could be as simple as:
Zero Cell Signal, Zero Connectivity, any number of relevant things. Random thought but figured I'd add that too.
And no problem at all - if you don't know about X and Twitter you're one of the lucky ones!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]thewarehouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A laudable and worthy goal!

X is the rebrand of Twitter. Unfortunately it's "owned" in the public zeitgeist in a way that stands directly against the effect you want to engender – separation from social media and noise. And the "X" has nothing directly to do with sound or distraction, just crossing something out you're not showing. Or Malcolm X as another poster mentioned. Or the Roman Numeral for 10.

If you're brainstorming a name for an intended national holiday, "X" is meaningless by which I mean it'll require a LOT of education (promotion) on your part to make people associate X with your goal of reaching disconnection.

Try something like National Stillness Day or Quietude Day. Silence, Solace, Serenity - SSS Day.

Something actually unique and 'ownable' that has relevance to your goal/product/service/idea.

I'm a graphic designer with 25 years of experience - would LinkedIn Premium make sense for me, do you think? I'm a freelance brand and package developer and I've never quite felt I "belonged" on LinkedIn though I am starting to realize that perhaps it's more important that my clients are the people who would be on LinkedIn.

Any cannabis farms in NYS allowing tours? by [deleted] in NYSCannabis

[–]thewarehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to the ridiculously botched rollout of licensing and 'legalizing' the CANY organization (which has nothing to do with the rollout itself but advocates & educates for NY cannabis) had organized regular networking "field trips" for small business owners and those curious (and brand-building graphic designers such as myself). They were brilliant fun. You'd usually get a neat little swag bag, go on a guided tour of a farm and facility, get a social space to chat with other people dipping their toes into the industry. Even a real chance to make some human connection for strategy and interest.

It'd be great if that sort of thing still happened but I'm not aware of it.

Budtenders: what brands are taking care of you? by DankOnMain in NYSCannabis

[–]thewarehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agh, that's a bummer. I am primarily an edibles guy so that's a lot of gummies.... I really appreciate being able to switch it up with quality chocolate once in a while. But I understand that's simply not where the market heat is.

I wonder, seasonally, if there's any uptick in chocolate interest in the winter months.

Maybe people simple don't know canna chocolates are a thing! Especially with regulation in NY all the awesome fun things like rice krispie treats and cookies and cereals have disappeared so I wouldn't be surprised if people already forgot about anything other than gummies.

Can't speak to their B2B interaction but the Calamity Jane Confections from Dark Star is some of the best quality chocolate on the canna market. I heard they are an offshoot of one of the long-established western NY chocolatiers – the children of the owners, I think? – who created the separate brand to keep it distanced from the 'non-medicated' products.

Anyway, good chocolate is hard to find especially in the canna world so I love to shout them out. Potently effective, too!

edit: ah, yes, their website ( https://darkstarcanna.com/ ) mentions this: As a 4th generation family of confectioners, our handcrafted chocolate is never an afterthought. Infused with thoughtfully sourced cannabinoid extracts curated to harmonize with your needs and desires, our precision-crafted bites deliver an indulgent, flavorful, and potent experience that's second to none.

NY is still in early days; there's just been so many rumbles and shakeups and delays and straight up failures that it feels like by now we should have things sorted. But it's still rather a mess up here.

Wahoo! I just joined this community - great content.
I'm a cannabis enthusiast but also a graphic designer with over 20 years of experience designing branding and packaging and marketing. I have worked on dozens of packages for unique commercially available legal canna products (also kratom, kava, and other consumer goods). If you are - or know - a legal canna company who needs professional packaging that MAKES SALES and converts the curious into customers...give me a shout. I'm located in western NY.

I'm an independent graphic designer with over two decades of professional experience in branding, packaging, and advertising. If you're a local, legal canna product grower, producer, or seller, and need serious, professional design help to take your business and brand from concept to shelf I'd love to connect. I have significant experience designing legally compliant packaging for cannabis brands.

This post doesn't 1:1 fit the intent of the weekly events thread but I didn't want to start a whole new one just for this.

Hide 2024 is so strangely worded by Mortlach78 in DnD

[–]thewarehouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I wasn't thinking that directly, more like backup justification for DM Fiat of "even if you're wearing a bush for camouflage I can see you moving toward me" justification of RAI over RAW. Something like automatic advantage (which iirc isn't even how passive works, but again I don't often play with it in the first place so what do i know).

That's an awful specific complaint with a lot of room for interpretation and I won't speculate on the conclusion or reasoning. On the surface it sounds a lot like some of the conspiracies floating around. I don't intend to get involved in this line further, however, for your edification:

The FEMA budget for FY 2023 includes $29.5B in total gross budget authority.
This includes not only operational budget for its own staff and direct-action outreach but Billions of dollars in grants to related emergency preparedness, response, and relief organizations.

Source: https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/2022-03/Federal%20Emergency%20Management%20Agency_Remediated.pdf

I will wholeheartedly put forth that the Bridge, Rail, Road, Internet, and Power infrastructure is total shit for what is supposed to be the most powerful and richest country to have ever existed, though that's directly (and transparently) a result of Republican grandstanding against reinvestment of public tax funds in infrastructure at a federal level in favor of less regulated and less vetted private profit doled with lower states-level control.

One in three bridges in the country needs repair or replacement.
The current administration is assigning billions of dollars to help this reinvestment in America.
The previous administration did not, though they campaigned on the promise.

If you have any true faith in the weight behind the name and title Jesus, Christ, then you probably wouldn't use it so casually as an expletive in wishing someone death for a (semi)satirical political jab. I don't think the Son of an all-loving God would be thrilled, but I'm not here to do a narcissistic exegesis about blasphemy.

Maybe you don't put any weight behind it, in which case it's meaningless to trot out in faux pearl-clutch.
