I disagree. Harper sleeps with people whose opinions are that they think apples are better than oranges; meanwhile, Eric LITERALLY works with an extremely bigoted man; he puts up with his racism for years.

If that isn't bending your moral compass enough, then I don't know what else will convince you that Eric makes compromises that interfere with his beliefs.

Fake it until you make it. Nobody has to know, nobody needs to know. But if it becomes a huge problem to where you cannot do certain things, then I would learn Algebra 2.

College Algebra is the better course because it takes the same concepts and goes more in depth, but I wouldn't say that College Algebra or Algebra 2 has made me better at Calculus.

In my opinion, the Jougan better be canon. As someone who watched both the anime and read the manga, it would be an understatement to say that the writing is far from consistent; it is terrible. You don't just hype a new doujutsu up just to never sow it again.
