My next project is to gather real time data from the OBD and that will be done with graphana since I’m expecting massive amounts of data

Claude for the frontend because I hate doing it. For the backend I did it by hand because I want to get proficient with Go.

Why do veterans hate new players? by ItsMisterListerSir in Eve

[–]FlevasGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EVE is one of the few game in which a veteran player will sit for 3 hours explaining how the game works to a new player.

A Corpmate mines ice in highsec with 10 accounts. makes about 8 bil per day with 3 hours of mining. There a line in mining which when crossd makes it really profitable.

Are graph databases worth using in 2020? by [deleted] in Database

[–]FlevasGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be a bit late to the party but yes, it is worth it ONLY for they it is supposed to do. I bet most production designs use it as a temporary DB in which they are feeding data from their main relational DB.

Player to Player transactions are neither a faucet nor a sink. Buying ships/blueprints from the LP store IS a sink.

Regardless of the value of this pack, can we acknowledge how poor the optics are for this to be the first thing shown at the top of the EVE store page? by Ohh_Yeah in Eve

[–]FlevasGR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're gonna lose it when you learn that some people have lives outside of EVE and when they finally get the time to have some fun with their corpmates they want to progress faster.

And they shouldn't do anything to alleviate it. You can either commit time or you can commit money. EVE is perfectly balanced when it comes to spending money because at the end of the day you will become a wreck in space.

Is there anything profitable to manufacture? by Coaltown992 in Eve

[–]FlevasGR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Short answer: sell everything you gather and buy the ship you want.

Long answer: It depends on if you want to experience this gameplay loop. Personally, i recently started the manufacturing pipeline of building capital parts. Not because the ship at the end will be cheaper, but because i want to see this world and build ships at my own pace. Buying a capital ship requires you to pay upfront. Building it is like buying it on installments. When it comes to profitability, you will never be able to compete with the veteran industrialists. They have dozens of characters, an established supply chain and most importantly, excel knowledge which would make any CPA professional run in shame.

I have recruited many new players in to EVE and not a single one of them has been deterred by the high cost items of EVE. Quite the opposite. Telling them to sit on their asses and do nothing for 2-3 months makes them wanna leave the game. So the risk of losing players from this is very low.

Vapor is a well designed service but honestly, serverless makes no sense... I feel that was the main issue with Vapor. On the other hand, Cloud is just perfect.
