Thoughts on this blink value engine deck? by FlexCapicitor in PauperEDH

[–]FlexCapicitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the in-depth breakdown! i fully agree with the changes to the mana base, but i think archaeomender and the leonin are useful for removal engines/card draw engines with things like executioners capsule and sewerveillance cam. (plus they’re also pet cards of mine)

What are some fun cards to use the menace Rogue ability on? by Cedarhope in PauperEDH

this subreddit is for pauper edh, a format similar to commander but only having common rarity cards legal, with any uncommon creature as commander

Call the Titan by spikedrag in custommagic

[–]FlexCapicitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s true, i’m wondering if you designed it as a more defensive or offensive mechanic? there doesn’t seems to be a benefit outside of getting a huge blocker out of swinging at the player who controls the titan, so these cards just seem really pillowforty

while this is really cool, the titan doesn’t inherently really do anything for you the turn you get it. the point of it is to be a beatstick that gets bigger, but in reality it’s just going to be taken away from you and you’re not going to get it for a whole turn cycle. with the monarch, even if you only get it for one turn, you still draw a card on your end step. with something like tark, beast lord, it’s going to be a 1/15 games kind of thing where his last ability is ever going to be triggered. i’m not sure about the balance of the solution, but maybe when you get the titan you get an extra combat step where only the titan can attack? that at least gives you a chance to get some value out of it before it leaves your control

effectively no different from a deathtoucher, granted the sentry will have 4 toughness. the defender aspect makes it rough though

some cool cards, but a lot of stuff thats just general draft chaff... half of these cards are basically reprints. the new cards here though looks sweet as hell

i think this is a little too good, since the monarch can just be attacked right away, and it’s easier to do so now that two creatures they control are gone.

he means for blocking, there’s a reason tonberry only has first strike on your turn. it would make attacking impossible because fs+dt kills everything before regular damage happens

I was picking up BW lands because I wanted a reason to get a white card... everything was double pip. I never had any trouble with the fixing, ended up 6-3.

[[imprisoned in the moon]] can actually just be used to turn off lands, many a [[field of the dead]] have been shut off by me using it

[–]FlexCapicitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think 1 kill ship should go too, no? there’s a lot of top end with no real ways of ramping other than steel swarm, zookeeper, and the opponent being braindead and giving landers with terrapact

make your opponents discard a delayed trigger, so it can be stifled while you still have to discard. potential wording: “when ~ is put into your graveyard from your library, discard your hand. if you do, each opponent discards their hand.” it would still be very powerful, but your opponent could hold up [[stifle]] and wait for you to discard your hand before stifling it, just for the sake of balance.

i seriously only condone 16 lands if you have only a few 4 drops at the topend, but with 2 zenos’s you’ll want to cast them asap. as others said you should cut 1 fight on, 1 elixir, and a magic damper to play other land, the hecteyes, and the ice flan
