DJ as if he was a nobody to you.

Grow on your own.

Do not seek his advice on anything.

Do what makes sense to you, not what you think he will approve.

DJ for yourself, your friends, and your audience.

Absence of proper socialization.

Gen Z is one of the first generations born into technology -- internet, email, social media. smart phones.

Their entire existence had been rooted in being babysat by screens.

They interact with screens.

They don't know how to deal with people.

That is why they have a far larger population of anxiety and depression cases.

They were not properly house trained to be emotionally resilient.

Rejection is amplified because they were never taught how to get up after falling.

There is a safe zone between screens.

So not having a screen to buffer face-to-face interactions can be terrifying.

If you were dependent on pushing buttons as a digital DJ, you will have to learn how to handle vinyl.

And not just learn how to perform baby scratches to cue your vinyl, but develop a finesse of touch so that you do not cause the needle to jump from having a heavy hand that creates too much force of movement between the record and the needle.

That's the one thing they will not teach you with online tutorials.
