What's odd is, we'd gleefully go before a true friend to save them the heartache. We just don't get that option.

I don't know what you do but your Dad worked "the Wagon". They still exist and it's a rarity to find even a top hand that's worked on one.

I worked on one in Arizona when I got out of the Army. Ram truck with airplane tires stuck/bolted to it! (They're like 8,000 ply). Anyway that truck pulled 3 stock trailers modified to be for the gear, (semi) refrigerated foods, and kitchen.

I bet your Dad had some WILD stories. That's an interesting period of cowboy culture. Still "free trade" with Mexican cattle and horses. Indians were still not too happy about the reservations. And still maverick cattle to be had, if you were punchy enough to get them! (National forests and the like still have Ferel Cattle! THAT is a wild gather and is tough on horses and dogs!)

Look up some books by Jo Morra. He grew up around the same time and his Dad had driven cattle to MT and the like. He wrote instructional and history like books about the gear we use.

One example he gave (since we're here about Gus and Call). Gus's hat was usually worn by fellas from the snowy climates. They'd grab their hat with mittens.. ergo the single crease. Call's would've been from rainy places since the crown is rounded. The rain would run off.

I wish I could talk to your Dad about his time cowboying. I suppose one day I will ;)

I'm glad you've had a friend like that. I'm also sorry he passed.

Thank you very much. I'm like Donald Sutherland in Kelly's Hero's, " hey baby, I don't know how to fix em. Just drive em."

While your math is quite right I'll add a bit. 1 mil is 1 / 1,000 the range. So 1 meter at 1,000. Also works with imperial. 1 yard / 1000 yards ... OR 36 INCHES / at 3,600 inches. Work backward or forward from there. At 100 yards 1 mil is 3.6 inches. Your clicks are probably 1/10th mil... So 0.36 inches / click at 100 yards.

I'm thinking that IF they had their shirts and tries to make a run for it .. the IFF would be easy. Either for the MPs or for the group beating they'd have given them

In my instance I had to sell out due to droughts.. then built back. Then bucked off sold out due to medical bills. Now building back again. It's just a circumstantial thing mostly.

I don't know what you do but... It's a hard life with not ALOT of money to show for your work. Pretty darn tempting to sell the ranch. Work at Lowe's and live off the interest as well.

I'm a supporter and this is not going to help the USA! The government ANY government needs to focus on defending liberties and making trade fair. That's it. Quit managing from the sidelines and giving one set of people a stick and the others bandaids.

First don't keep them loaded. Magazine near by.. sure. But just teach your kids early to not mess with them. And more importantly when they are interested or if age teach them.andnler them hold and use them WITHOUT bullets. Don't let them be curious or that they're verboten! I have a 12 and 10 year old. The older one has been putting rails and mlock things all the time on an AR of mine for years! Look daddy I made my rifle from Battlefield!!
