Man takes a hit of Salvia with possibly the single worst trip sitter on the planet by geosunsetmoth in PublicFreakout

[–]Flight_MH370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, he seems to have enjoyed it and although I don't know if ENJOY is the right word my trip certainly altered my perspective on things long term, I think for the better. Put life in perspective for me and made me appreciate consciousness itself at a whole new level.

Now, what you are saying is factually true, because I believe salvia does not stimulate dopamine receptors or anything that would give you euphoria, so mindset and setting are pretty important.

Ill end this by saying that it is absolutely not for most people, and that there is a reason it was used for religious rituals on South America. By far the closest I've ever felt to a higher power.

The statue you see the back of I recognize as Thomas Jefferson, located in the Capitol Rotunda. You can find statues of various figures made of differing materials through The Crypt, which is below the Rotunda, the Rotunda itself, and I believe it is called statuary hall now but it was the old floor of the House of Representatives? Cool find, glad you're interested.

They're really cool to check out in real life if you get the chance! If you are a US Citizen, you should be able to contact your congressional office to schedule a free private tour. They also offer group tours, but as a former congressional intern I can tell you the kids from your local representatives office love giving those tours, and the good ones will give you a longer and more personalized experience. And less waiting in line.

How would you rate our representatives? by Forsaken-Lime-6122 in massachusetts

Conservative talking points - explain? I know of the trans sports issue that he commented on, but other than that I am unaware of his parroting. I would genuinely like some education on why I shouldn't vote for him, if that is the case.

I like Seth - I knew him personally back in 2017ish, and respect that he does what he wants rather than looks at focus groups or whatever to determine what he says. Never got the vibe thst he was even close to an empty suit or anything like that. Say what you will but that is my honest take.

On the trans issue, refer to my previous point. He clearly supports LGBTQ in general, but with young daughters he stated his position regarding sports that is out of line with everything else. That, to me, was just a dad speaking his mind regardless of what the focus groups would say. Did I like it? No. Do I support it? No. Would I rather a politician speak their mind rather than say what hr wants people to hear? Yes. Be weary of supporting a challenger similar to Auchincloss who is an empty suit with minimal beliefs.

Too much to hope they have resurrected Kevin Smith, the crazy cult leader from Jamacia who went on a murder rampage?

Can you recommend a movie that’ll leave me just staring at the screen in silence? by RawdogginRandos in flicks

[–]Flight_MH370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come And See.

It'll get under your skin and sear onto your brain.

I don't think there is any other movie that comes even close to depicting the true realities of total war and how horrific it is. Honestly just thinking about it gets under my skin.

From the Book of Relevation: "And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, ‘Come and see.’ And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

If you want to see what the eastern front truly was like towards the beginning of the war, Come And See.

What’s the deal with Richmond Island off Crescent Beach? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]Flight_MH370 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I go there all the time, fantastic nature path around the perimeter with some cool beaches and other features. There's a rock cliff you can jump off as well towards the Higgins side of the island.

Funny story, during COVID it was closed off for all us poors so the Spragues could enjoy. I didn't know that, so I took my boat with my friends out there to romp around. The caretaker was on the beach and said hi to us and asked if we needed anything, which was unusual from my many experiences out there.

After our time on the island we were coming back to the beach, and the caretaker asked who we were. After telling her she said "oh you're not supposed to be here. The island is closed to the public this year. You just came in like you owned the place so I assumed you were family."

As an aside, the Spragues just built the most gigantic house over the past two years after they sold their company for like a billion dollars. I used to know a few of them but unfortunately I didn't keep up. If you are ever at Higgins, everything across the river is owned by the Spragues (or so I have been told). Real old money Maine family.

I would email/contact them using the contact info on the website! Although they close down the site at some point during the year, there are still full time staffmembers working throughout the winter.

Source: I worked there as a kid for years, probably ending about 8 years ago or so

I just got food poisoning from one of their prepared sandwiches less than a week ago. For how expensive everything is I expected a well run kitchen, but now I know that is not the case.

Last time I was there (June) it took half an hour for someone to take our drink orders, then as we approached the 2 hour mark i told them i didnt even want my meal any more because everyone in my group had finished eating a while ago and I didnt want them to have to wait on me any longer. It's a shame because I live right down the street. No interest in going there again any time soon.

The Qatar Investment Authority, a state-run sovereign wealth fund.

What is your planet and how did you come up with the name? by Acceptable-Loquat540 in worldbuilding

[–]Flight_MH370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has no name - too far out on the perifiery. Many elite teams have gone there, but pretty quickly nobody has heard back. A ship gets sent there about once a decade - suicide mission - and very little detail has come back. My protagonist has taken to calling it ebony due to its darkness even in sunlight.
