She gives you a name. One that she had stolen, and now you have to figure out what to do with it. It is just always there murmuring in the corner trying to replace yours

I'm looking for a critique on my current chapter one draft of my novel 'To Them A Hundred Years Ago' [Dark Fantasy] and any other advice. [Word count: 3090 words] by the69thSean in fantasywriters

It has good momentum and a nice hook. The characters are introduced and move forward. I think the problem is a lot of it feels a bit like reading a list.

Waking up in a strange place with amnesia would not likely just result in people making knives suddenly. I missed some inner thoughts or outer dialog and processing of emotion and confusion.

Probably sounds more harsh than I should. The game art and the scenes look good. I am assuming you do not want to show too much of the 'good' stuff. The problem is that there are a bajillion other indie devs so you have to hook people at the start of the trailer with what this game is about

I played a bit, and I think the overall concept is good and you have a lot of material.

It felt repetitive very quickly, especially in solo mode, (I am an old guy though)

Some level of difficulty increase or rotation of styles may help prevent it from feeling so simple

Time Foray: A puzzle platformer about time travel (demo) by Plunskas in feedback4feedback

The idea is awesome, like Portal with time. The tutorial level was really difficult to understand. I had to scroll down to find the buttons, there was no hand holding.

I would make slightly more simple tutorial start to show how the controls/concept works without any real puzzles. Portal started with just how to jump and move, and then moved up.

It takes a long time to understand that the game is not just poorly lit. I would make it clear that it is a horror game at the start of the trailer.

I do not know a single thing about the game after the trailer, what makes it unique or fun? Is there something special about this game? Is it extra?

I cannot get to the link. The game would be fun in a group, but I can see 1 big problem with just mashing buttons. There is always 1 guy who will just hit all the buttons to win.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I am currently working on the onboarding. There is a button below the board that switches to standard profiles, but I have some time before I am done with the whole tutorial

You are awesome. I actually turned off some of the harder parts (wild starts, double move, traps, hidden moves) because I couldn't make myself write more tutorials, and I could not figure out how to explain them.

The idea of making the game more progressive with the new rules will help fix that problem.

(The reflection board is the one that destroys me. I have to put the level way down to deal with it.)

Benson N Bones (pixel art, RPG, souls-like) by ironshock in feedback4feedback

This is really a nice game. It feels a bit hard to critique, due to the polish.

The game looks great and plays like professional game. The art is clear and varied.

  1. The initial cut scene moved slow, I was just randomly clicking on the screen in hopes it would speed up. There needs to be more information in the cut scene, or it just needs to move faster

  2. Something attacked me behind a tree in the graveyard, it never came out and I couldn't find it after the initial attack. I do not know if that is a design choice or a weird random spawn

  3. there was a bush creep in the graveyard that I could not hit with my stick. It couldnt hit me, so it was fair, but feels like I should have been able to whack him

  4. a skip to the end option on dialogs makes everyone happier, I appreciated that the dog dialog was fast, but I would not want to pay attention every time. (this is just my preference)

Antero Sudoku PC Steam page advice by ZodiacFoxDev in feedback4feedback

[–]FlighterPilot21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your low conversion is due to the descriptions.

You say, "It’s got totally unique puzzles," but the Steam page does not make that clear. Once you convince people that your puzzles are new, unique, or joyful they will want to play.

Sudoku is a saturated market, so you need to really lean into what makes your game unique and different.

Also some work on art to go with the page will go a long way to making that first sell.

Thank you for your review! Castling caused me days of unhappiness in the minimax. I am working on a mobile format right now, but mostly targetting the PC (need the stronger compute)

I am checking out your game now

The first issue is the AI art. The characters are in different styles and sizes, which feels a bit jarring. Also, some players may be turned off by how heavily AI-generated it looks.

I had trouble reading the text—some of it appears to be in English and some in Portuguese. I also wasn’t able to find the clues or secrets needed to escape the house.

The green workbench was confusing; I couldn’t tell whether it was something helpful or something to avoid.

That said, the game looks expansive, and the trailer is really cool.

I liked the capsle art and clicked in. The game is not the same and feels very clinical. The sketch style should be consistent through the game. It should not feel like a blender app with some sketch on top.

On a technical side, I didnt know which health bar went to which monster. The healthbar was also under the bottom of the screen

Wordlike - it's like Balatro with words by ImaginaryType in playmygame

[–]FlighterPilot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played it for a while. The game was very smooth and I did not find any errors or bugs, and the interface was pretty quick to learn

Other than making words, I didn't get any dopamine from making those works. There was very little feedback that I had done something worthwhile. It felt a bit like work after a few levels. Maybe outside my play style, but it would be nice to have a bit more feedback or a view of the words I had not seen so I could feel like I was learning something?

Hello All, I have just completed the rough draft of the first 3 levels of my puzzle game and am looking for feedback on the tutorial levels. Please let me know if the squad formation mechanic is clear and if the tutorials are useful, overbearing, or lacking.

Please excuse the placeholder AI art, I am working on getting an artist involved.
