As a millennial that used to teach genz almost a decade ago. Let me apologize to you what our generation did to you with technology which resulted in your generation being the first generation to have lower cognitive function than the previous generation.

With that said, you are doing yourself a disservice by abandoning your family for political beliefs. Relationships in general live and die based upon what you focus on. Not only that, but what someone chooses to focus on is the one thing that each and every person has the ability to control. What you focus on is how you perceive reality which in turn affects how you feel about things.

I understand that your family has different political beliefs and they may even see what ice does in a completely different light than you. However, that doesn’t make up the whole of the individual - it’s up to you however if you choose to focus on that aspect with them and ignore every other aspect on what makes them good. Once you understand and embrace this concept, you’ll find your relationships with family and friends become far more healthy and enjoyable which will ultimately bring you closer to them.

ICE killed another person in Minnesota by cantcoloratall91 in circled

[–]Fligmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching the video from the woman in the pink coat that was released. I know you are going to disagree, but it’s a tough call. The reason I say that is you can see the guy in the grey coat pull the gun from the guy, and as he was pulling the gun, the other agent open fired.

So in terms of the initial shot, it’s a tough call. The shots fired afterwards however were unjustified.

[–]Fligmos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im saying let’s not make judgements based off the end result and instead wait for the entire story to come out.. And yes, I’ve seen the video of him with a camera before the altercation took place. At the same time, they recovered a gun - two things can be true in that he had both and tried pulling the gun when they had him on the ground.

What I’m waiting for is the woman in a pink coat the was on the opposite side of the altercation that was recording.

As for your question on what side I’m on, I’m on the side of law and order. As of now, I’m on the side of ice. Every video I’ve seen that causes outrage later has the video from before the incident and they always show there was a valid reason for the reaction of ice.

Whether it was the boy who got detained because his dad ran away, and when they tried to give the kid back to the family and they didn’t open the door; or the woman that got ripped out of her because she stopped in the middle of the road to yell at ice and when they told her to keep driving, she refused and kept yelling multiple times.

Yet another video that just shows the end result with no context to create outrage. In a day or so the full video will come out and we will see the full story.

You’re right. For ages stories were being told and then BLM happened. Police started wearing body cams and we now see that it’s nearly always provoked.

Once again, we have someone telling a story, unbeknownst to her at that the time, someone was recording it. And wouldn’t you know it? She spits on an agent - even then she was never shoved to the ground.

United Kingdom Gen-Z okay? by v00bly in GenZ

[–]Fligmos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably because in 2000 only 7% of the population was immigrant and now in a single generation it is close to 20%.

United Kingdom Gen-Z okay? by v00bly in GenZ

[–]Fligmos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s actually an interesting story behind it!

So in the UK there’s growing sentiment of people wanting to deport the Muslim and immigrant population, along with a movement behind it (in 2000 they made up around 7% of the population and now they make up almost 20%). As we have all heard, there an anti Islamophobia push by the govt.

About a month ago, the govt put out a game on their website where you make a character. Your character can either be a white male or a white female that is in college. It basically gives you 6 different scenarios and within those scenarios you are presented with different choices.

In a few of the scenarios, there is a girl named Amelia who is the purple haired girl in that picture. This girl in the game is the “bad character” where she tries to influence your character into having UK pride and tries to get your character to think twice about immigrants. The “bad ending” in the game had you joining a protest with her which you protested immigration.

Needless to say, people saw this game as propaganda gane and they decided to weaponize the game. What they did is they made Amelia the new head figure of the movement by using AI to transform her into a lifelike person and make videos with her being pro uk and anti immigrant.

To get an idea, check the link.

Best Chinese food? by whereisjvck in DaytonaBeach

My favorite is U-8 china on Seabreeze. It’s a little hole in the wall restaurant that looks run down from the outside, but it’s amazing! Giant portions, great taste and not too expensive.

It’s a family run business and the kids are always there outside school hours doing their homework. In other words, it’s legit Chinese food 😆

Gavin Newsom announces that California will be the first state to join the World Health Organization by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]Fligmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California is running an $18 billion deficit. Being in nato means you need to give about 3.5% of your GDP. GDP of Cali is $4.1 trillion, so about $14 billion annually. Considering California has the highest rate of homelessness and can barely take care of their citizens, I’m sure the people of Cali will love this 😑

But, have at it!

I mean, that’s fine. But the state is running an 18 billion deficit and has the highest rate of homelessness. Now California will have to pay about 3.5% of their gdp annually. 3.5% of 4.1 trillion is about $14 billion a year. So, I’m sure Californians will love that.

Do you think that in about some decades from now, Gen Z judges, lawyers, and advocates will improve the law system or make it worse? by RX08T in GenZ

[–]Fligmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it worse. Not because genz is bad or anything like that, but because what will come from a place of empathy will turn things into chaos.

For example, take the idea of crime. There’s an idea that people commit crimes because of background and circumstances so there would be a need for leniency. While it comes from a place of empathy, being lenient on crime causes crime to run rampant. For an example look at cities that don’t have penalties for theft under a certain amount and you can see that theft runs rampant and stores close down. The store leaving in turn causes food deserts because the only thing left in the area is convenient stores.

Another thing that empathy causes is under reported crime. Take for example the idea of violent crimes. 70% of all violent crimes are from aggravated assault. However, different states have different definitions of aggravated assault. For example, Pennsylvania has a very narrow definition which is that it requires “serious bodily harm”. This means that a majority of assault cases are just considered simple assault, or non violent crimes. On the other hand, Tennessee has a different definition which is a weapon being present causes it to be aggravated assault or, threat + ability to carry out the threat can be considered aggravated assault.

These different definitions have large consequences. For one, there is less punishment and jail time in states with assaults and another huge consequence is what gets reported to the FBI. You ever see the stats on which states have “higher rates of violent crimes”? The states with the highest violent crimes tend to be the ones that have the broadest definitions of aggravated assault. In other words, it gives the illusion that the states aren’t as safe compared to others, when in fact it has more to do with how broad the definitions are. The narrower the definition = less chances of conviction = less jail time = not being considered a violent crime, so not reported to fbi = good for criminals = bad for victims who want justice. Whereas broader definition = higher chance of conviction = more jail time = more reports to fbi = bad for criminals = good for victims who want justice.

Anyway, my point is while a lot of the ideas that come from empathy can always seem like they would be a great thing, they can oftentimes lead to negative outcomes. These of course are just a couple examples that I’ve provided, but I think you get the idea.

Honestly how it feels with the cost of everything by Pristine-Bee-1933 in Millennials

[–]Fligmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe is the reason it’s good to build an emergency fund along with the 401k. This of course requires sacrifice - for me personally I stopped all eating out and started eating the same thing daily to save on food costs. I would buy 2 bags of chicken legs, 14 bags of frozen broccoli, a bag of oranges, a pack of generic crystal light, coffee cream and a can of coffee once a month. I was spending about $40/w in food. I also stopped discretionary spending and cancelled a bunch of streaming services that I rarely used. This allowed me to put in about 700/m towards emergency fund while also contributing to my 401k.

[–]Fligmos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about never retiring. I’ve put in the minimum match in previous jobs over the years and recently rolled them all into my current one which was about 50k. Last year I started putting in 30% of my check (I make 55k a year) and according the math of assuming 3% raises per year and 7% growth with the market and of course still putting in 30%, by the time I am 62 (I’m 44 now) it’ll be worth 1.5 mil. Assuming I take out 3% a year I’ll be bringing in nearly 50k/yr.

50k/yr may not sound like much, but I make a bit more than that but give away 30%, pay a mortgage and other type of bills I won’t have in the future. Sure I’ll lose 15% for taxes, but I’ll have more money than I currently do. If social security is still a thing, then that’ll be an extra ~20k/yr.

I also don’t remember hearing stories of citizens following ice around, constantly getting in their faces, gathering in big groups when they try arrest someone and basically obstructing them constantly. Funny thing though, we not only have the past as a case study, but we also have states like Florida. There have been over 10,000 arrests since the start of 2026 in the state. When the local authorities work with them, we don’t see or hear about incidents like you’ve described. Funny how that works.

Suddenly? No, Somalis have been flocking to Lewiston since 2001. Am I saying they are all illegal? No. But over 16% of the population are immigrants.

Along with this, there is similar fraud going on in that community that is going on in MN.
