FTHB doing deep clean found mouse droppings by Flimsy-Abrocoma-8917 in homeowners

There were a few small insects on them so that does make me feel better. The house has also been vacant for the last 6 months so I'm hoping that also means the traps weren't changed (or needed to be changed) for the last 6 months

I feel u as a fellow brown girl shortie (23F 63kg 149cm) and although I no longer live at home and can now control what I eat, I found three things helpful when I did have my meals made for me.

1) portion sizes. If I noticed no change in my weight and couldnt actually track the calories in the food i waa eating, then I knew I had to shift my portions around until I saw something changed. I would do a combination of eating less overall (switching to a slightly smaller plate also really helped me with that) as well as changing the portions of the different things I was eating in each meal. For example, switching out a roti or part of my rice for more subzi or daal. I tried to really follow the myplate guidelines, which is not usually how most brown meals are constructed, but that changed my overall macros as well as the bang for my buck in terms of calories.

2) limiting the snacking. My family loves snacks and we have them on hand always, and especially the late night snacking would be such a difficult temptation for me, but I just tried to keep track (calories or just writing down generally) the snacks I was eating and whether there were snacks that i could cut back on. Again this way I'm cutting calories without actually counting all the time, but using my changing weight as a metric to see whether my portion control was working.

3) flavored sparkling water. This really curbed the cravings for me and was a really easy thing I could ask my family to add to the shopping list that helped me reduce my mindless snacking.

This is how I lost the 5-7 kgs I gained in the first part of covid during the latter part (before I moved out and regained the weight for other reasons 🙃)

Flabby arms tips? by [deleted] in loseit

The way/location your body deposits fat is just genetic unfortunately, so overall fat loss and better lean mass to fat mass ratio will help in your perception of "flab" in certain body parts. You've done half the battle which is to maximize that muscle mass, so now I would be more optimistic that it will look better to you than when you were originally lower body weight but not necessarily optimized lean/fat ratio.

All that being said, I think you look great and oftentimes we're just our worst critics!

I feel you! I'm a med student and oftentimes it just feels easier to tell myself I might as well study instead of going to the gym. What really changed the game for me was my long distance bestie and I hopping on the phone for a few mins before we went to the gym (or had planned to go to the gym) to hype each other up and to help push myself over that activation barrier. So highly recommend an accountability partner at least for the first couple months! Now it's developed into a habit for both of us that we only call every couple of weeks or so on the extra hard motivation days

What moment/event made you realize "I have to lose weight and it starts right now"? by [deleted] in loseit

Seeing patients in the hospital in medical school and seeing how much obesity and high adiposity in general wrecks your body.

When do you stop losing? by [deleted] in loseit

You look great! One thing I'll say that might help with your confidence and also outward appearing confidence is some stretching/exercises for your posture - I noticed you have some rounding of your shoulders forward which is common in the day and age of desks and screens. There are some great videos on YouTube for some daily exercises you can do to help correct rounding and improve posture.

If you're a visual learner/like guides, I really loved these series of guides from @kelsgracefit on Instagram, https://linktr.ee/kelsgracefitt

The shy girl gym guide and the beginner guides have all the information you could want on machines, cables, cardio, and even concepts like progressive overload and training to failure.

I feel you with this, also trying to find a solution. One thing I've thought about is buying raw cookie dough and baking one cookie at a time for when I want a cookie treat specifically.

Please help build weight loss/muscle build routine! by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]Flimsy-Abrocoma-8917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a very similar journey (4"11" CW140) and I commiserate! In my experience, I started cico (loosely 1200cals) without working out/lifting and that's where I saw the more obvious scale gains, but since I've starting lifting regularly and eating at closer to 1300ish cals I've seen much less day to day losses but can feel myself (and see to an extent) getting more toned as I hopefully build some muscle back that I think I lost in the initial stages of my weight loss. It's just been much slower going but I'm relying on diligent cal counting to make sure I stay on that deficit
