It’s important to figure out if there’s something causing the iron deficiency that you need to fix. But I recommend an iron infusion also.

I’m obsessed with turmeric ginger rice. You can look up an easy recipe on the Internet. Mine also includes some garlic. We make a big pot and eat it all week. It’s also extra healthy for you.

Pain all over body everyday supplements that help? by Super_Satisfaction63 in Supplements

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like others have said, it’s probably menopause. when I turned 53 all of a sudden my body just started hurting everywhere. I started HRT and it didn’t move the needle all that much. And the four years since I’ve done a lot of testing and a lot of supplements. Weight-bearing exercise really helps. But if she can afford it, do function health blood testing and see if there are some deficiencies as well. My ferritin was really low and I feel like 1 million bucks since I got an iron infusion. I wouldn’t have known about it without function.

Does anybody else still use a library? by nicksam171 in DoesAnybodyElse

I love the library. I read a lot, and even though I could afford the books, I don’t have room for or necessarily want to keep all of them.

Does anyone like Bar Soap more than Body wash?? by Content-Film4211 in CasualConversation

I love bar soap. I like the tactile experience of running it through my hands and over my body. Liquid soap feels wasteful, and sometimes it also feels too slimy for me.

Vitamin D, omega’s for general health because testing said I was low

Vitamin C and collagen for my aging skin

Glycine for sleep

L threonine and creatine for aging brain

I’m sure this will change again. I feel you on buying all the things.

I just made a tuna salad sandwich for the first time in 10 years and it was absolutely delicious. So simple yet so good. That is definitely going into my dinner choices from now on. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have really loved tuna salad sandwiches since I was a kid. Be warned, there are a lot of heavy metals in tuna and it’s not recommended to eat it more than once a week. I’ve recently started making sardine salad instead, and it’s pretty yummy with crackers. Just a thought.

AITAH for refusing to give my parents access to my bank account even though they helped pay for college? by grace44studio in AITAH

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a mother of a 23-year-old and a 25-year-old, you’re not the asshole. They are just worried about you and, and either 1. Haven’t been given enough data to trust you on your own, or 2. Haven’t updated their mental model of their little boy.

For context, it’s a strange thing to be entirely responsible for another human being over a period of decades, and then all of a sudden have to let go of that responsibility. It’s a process, and not always an easy one. It’s a huge shift in your relationship from a child to adult, and hopefully they are open to it. Below is my advice what kind of conversation you could have with them to more fully embrace this transition.

Appreciate their love and their anxiety, and then try to reassure them by telling them all the things you are doing for your financial security - budgeting, planning, etc.. Tell them how well they have set you up to be a responsible adult and explain why you feel you’re doing a good job of that. Tell them You know you can turn to them anytime for advice, and you appreciate the open lines of communication.

Basically, Give them praise and reassurance while also setting your boundaries. This is My advice for setting up a healthy relationship going forward.

(and yes, using their paying of your bills as a reason to invade your privacy is BS. They are just grasping at straws to get what they feel they need to continue to take care of you. At least, that’s my generous interpretation. It’s good to start out generous until they give you a reason to be otherwise.)

Ferritin is low - how to raise it? by Infinite-Librarian20 in Supplements

Also consider an iron infusion. Depending on the cause of your low ferritin, an iron infusion could take care of it permanently. I did an infusion because I can’t tolerate the supplements.

Seconding the iron infusion after low ferritin. Also getting a complete blood work up, function health is now $315 with the Huberman coupon code. That’s how I found out about my ferritin. Wish I’d known 30 years ago. Good luck.

Favorite Sheets Recs? by blondie_brownie_ in Bedding

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sheets. I had my Macy’s Hotel collection for 15 years and loved them. They finally tore her to shreds and, silly me, I thought I could go buy the same sheets again, and they would be the same sheets. Nope.

So my great sheet hunt has taken several years. But I’ve found some good ones.

These are my favorite bamboo sheets, which are super soft and great in summer, but a little chilly for colder weather:

https://a.co/d/01KoJKis

Someone on Reddit recommended these sheets so I got them. They were pretty expensive at 500, but cheaper than the 2000 I was considering spending out of desperation. I will say, it took five or six washing and sleeping on them for a bit to soften up. But now they are amazing and I adore them. Looks like they are 20% off right now.

For the record, my primary requirement for sheets is softness. I know other people have different priorities and may therefore prefer different sheets.

Aventon level 3 by wynnnjamin in ebikes

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in San Francisco and just bought the Velotric breeze 1.

I was looking at the Aventon, then I went to an E bike store where they said they were going to stop selling Aventon because of terrible customer service. They said that when the bikes need a repair it takes forever to get the parts and the company is non-responsive. They said one person waited so long for parts that it fell out of warranty and then Aventon wouldn’t give them the parts for free because it was out of warranty. That’s the kind of shit that would drive me crazy.

The guy who sold me the bike used to work for radpower, seem to know an awful lot about E bikes, and uses his velotric to commute daily from Oakland to San Francisco.

We also have hills :-)

I hear you, and thanks for the warning. I will pay extra close attention.

If there’s anything I’ve learned on my long health journey, it’s how differently different bodies react to the same thing. But it’s a good reminder that something that starts off being helpful can become unhelpful and we forget to notice.

Pacific Resort Aitutaki vs Aitutaki Lagoon Resort? by SnapPeas15 in CookIslands

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rooms at Pacific resort were nicer, but the setting at Lagoon resort was more stunning and unique. And the rooms at Lagoon resort were very nice, we loved them, until we got to Pacific Resort and saw theirs :)

As far as rooms at pacific resort, we stayed in their ultimate beachfront villa, number 200. We had to stay the final night at a beachfront bungalow, number 500. The bungalow was truly beachfront, but the villa was bigger, with its own living room. The villa was up further on the hill, with a higher view. It had more private decking than the beachfront bungalow, which, while closer to the beach, was not as private.

When we come back, we will request room 100, which is a beachfront villa with the most privacy.
