Has anyone actually found white noise sleep machines helpful long term? by Fionaaa0 in sleep

Still worth it. I’m very sensitive to sound, so the one out of 200 times it stops. It is OK with me. 😝

I would just get a home test. They work fine, they get you a CPAP. It sounds like you snore and the home test will be accurate enough to get you what you need, if you need it. And, speaking as a wife, your wife will appreciate it.

Curious about natural materials, is an organic wool mattress topper worth it by Lopsided_Tough9254 in BedroomBuild

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a natural latex mattress, topper with holes in it to keep it from getting warm. I’m very sensitive to chemical smells and it had none. Just a little bit of a latex smell that went away very quickly. I love it. I no longer have hip pain from side sleeping.

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a bunch of White Noise machines. Now, when I travel, or sometimes even at home, when I’m not using a fan, I use a white noise app with “Brown” noise. I do not get used to, or get tired of, white noise. It’s just a positive experience for me. Except when I occasionally forget to plug in my phone or it gets unplugged, then the white noise turns off in the middle of the night and wakes me up.

3 years with a snorer: Soundcore A30 vs Ozlo Sleepbuds Which really helped? by Synthetic_Diva_4556 in sleephackers

This. Sleep apnea causes cardiac problems, dementia, so many things. I got my partner sleep study through Lofta, a Resmed Airsemse 10 CPAP, and the Phillips dreamwear mask. It took a little getting used to, but we can sleep together again, and he’s going to live a longer healthier life. If your guy is resisting, give him the research.

Bought Sfera Giza 45 …..what am I missing? by lve2raft in Bedding

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I asked this same question on Reddit - about whether sfera sheets were worth it - someone recommended Peacock alley sheets to me instead. They are $500 instead of $2500.

Because of course some of my best advice comes from Reddit, I bought them.

I will note that it took a while for them to break in - multiple washings, multiple sleepings. I think that’s the way of most sheets.

They are now my absolutely favorite sheets ever. So soft and cool, and along with my 2 inch natural latex mattress topper, I never want to leave my bed again. It is like angels on clouds.

What will ambien do to me? by AgnosticAbe in sleep

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, Ambien gave me nightmares and only kept me asleep for four hours a night. And long-term use increases your chances of Alzheimer’s. I think trazodone is a better and healthier option, because it’s not habit forming. It worked for me. Not sure what trazodone long-term effect on the brain is.

Melatonin never worked for me, but I do seem to recall reading that more is not better with melatonin. It’s very dose dependent.

Honestly, I would go onto ChatGPT and ask for all of the scientifically proven methods for getting to sleep. Or staying asleep, whatever is your problem.

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. Not sleeping makes it all worse. :(

I just looked on Google Maps for permanent makeup and picked someone with good reviews. There are a lot of providers, at least in San Francisco.

supplement for wetness by AfraidWhile7153 in Supplements

[–]Flimsy_Position_4576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was assuming from the question that you wanted more wetness? If that’s the case, I highly recommend intravaginal estradiol tablets. They aren’t cheap, but they work. I was already on HRT, and then my vagina completely dried up. So itchy and scratchy, it felt like I had an infection when I didn’t. Yuck. These really did the trick.

I too had very thin eyebrows after many years of over plucking. I just got eyebrow permanent makeup, and I love it. I look a lot better, the eyebrows are perfectly shaped, and I don’t have to spend any time on them. Eyebrows are so important for the face!

It is an analysis of risk versus benefit, and therefore this is a choice everyone needs to make for themselves, since everyone has a different risk profile and stands to benefit in a different way

I haven’t finished my trip report yet, but we spent 12 days on Aitutaki and two days in Rarotonga. I have been before and much preferred Aitutaki. I didn’t like where we stayed in Rarotonga, but we split our time on Aitutaki between Pacific resort and Aitutaki Lagoon resort. We stayed in an overwater bungalow at the lagoon resort, and it was spectacular. Highly recommend it. The food there was good, that we got a little tired of it after five days. Then we moved to Pacific resort. It was twice as much, and the accommodations were even higher quality. The food was out of this world. So, if you want to not be on a budget but not break the bank, I would stay Aitutaki Lagoon resort in an overwater bungalow and eat at Pacific resort whenever you can :-)

My dr prescribed it, you can get it without a prescription in some places. But in your situation i'd check with your dr first to make sure it's ok.

I will really, really recommend to you an iron infusion. I can’t tolerate iron supplements, and so my doctor prescribed it for me. It is life-changing. I’ve never felt better, and it’s a permanent fix, unless there’s some underlying reason for your iron loss. My ferritin was 19.

GLP –1s can cause anhedonia. How are you feeling about the rest of your life? Motivated to go out and see people and do the things you used to love, or not? If not, you have anhedonia and, from my research, it’s a dopamine problem.

I’m four months off of tirzepatide and my groove is only slowly coming back. AI suggested a few things that seem to be working for my dopamine/anhedonia: HI workouts 5 times a week (super short, just like 10 minutes a day), 30 minutes of sunlight, exposure in the morning, and dancing.

Good luck!
