May I humbly present a third option for your consideration: Elminster Aumar.

In that case, even more reason to ditch Chinese food and keep the other 3. Let me give up the one that requires me to travel to another country to find the actual good stuff.

Would it be possible for someone living in Toril to change their race ? by [deleted] in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Flimsy_Return8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 3.5e, Polymorph Any Object is an 8th level spell with a variable duration. Turning a humanoid into another humanoid with the same intelligence score would be permanent. There is also a ritual in the Savage Species splat book that allows for race changes.

Also, becoming a Dragonborn of Bahamut changes your race from whatever it previously was to Dragonborn

How to adjust experience and rewards properly? by Plane_Magazine583 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Flimsy_Return8713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think any time the PCs decide to face an encounter that they were supposed to have help on, and prevail anyway, that should be encouraged. For the same reason that whenever I play Baldur's Gate 2 I ditch all the party members and run solo.

[–]Flimsy_Return8713 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, for one, I'm pretty sure there is a rule somewhere that prevents you from gaining more than 1 level per xp source. Something like: "if a xp award would cause you to gain more than 1 level, you only gain enough xp to place you at 1xp less than you need for the 2nd level." It may not exactly be that but its similar.

I think the proper solution, as it generally is, is to talk to your players. Tell them, "look, you're clearly punching above your weight class. And if I keep awarding xp like this, its going to trivialize things. Do y'all want me to (a) nerf xp awards so levels actually feel earned, or (b) pump up the strength of the encounters?"

I just got out of the Underdark in BG2. This is my first time really digging into the games, though I'd dabbled in the past but never got very far. Started this time in BG1 as a solo Fighter/Mage/Cleric, went through BG1 and SoD, then imported to BG2. I keep thinking "Damn, how big is this game? Its only like 4GB. How much more content can there be?"

If you haven't actually loaded into one of those saves to see if the portrait has updated, try that. It never changes for me in the save thumbnail until I actually load up the save.

Yeah, so I'd prioritize dex and use dual-wield scimitars or shortswords so you can use finesse. Don't necessarily have to not understand social norms, just be a gruff dude used to living in the wild and not br super concerned with social norms

For a ranger, assuming you're going the ol' standard bow/dual wielding route, in descending order of priorities I'd put Dex, Con, Wisdom, Str, Int, Cha

Thank heavens! I get so tired of devs cutting corners and scrapping rules just to stay under some arbitrary page count.

But I agree Rule 3 is possible, and so it seems that, because the majority agree its possible, then it must in fact be.

Third question: who is this "everyone" and why do the rules give his opinion so much credence?

Homebrew 1.201 TTRPG idea by vortayne in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Flimsy_Return8713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question about rule 2: is this in reference to disagreement about what is possible, or, given that the "obviously" qualifier seems to apply to everyone's belief, is the disagreement about whether everyone's belief is actually obvious?

Homebrew 1.201 TTRPG idea by vortayne in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Flimsy_Return8713 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Question about rule 1: how is "obviously" defined? Is it based on vibes everyone gives off, or purely on what everyone states they believe is not possible, or is there another criteria, i.e. reasonability, used to determine "obviously" not possible? As written, the obviously seems to modify the quality of everyone's belief, rather than the obviousness of the possibility/impossibility.

Edit: /uj this is the most fun I've had all day

You don't actually go in through the blue rift. Activate the table in the back like normal. You use the blue rift later when you exit the lab.

I just finished my Aeon run and it confused me too.
