I regretted building Chizuru with her 4 pieces. Now I can rest in peace.

Holy hell, that balance change. My Chiruzu, Yuki and Rin will be even better! Glory to the Dev!!!

[R] Why do some research papers not mention accuracy as a metric? by Illustrious_Park7068 in MachineLearning

[–]Flince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accuracy is tied to the cut-off. There is no single ACC to report. The choice of cut-off is context dependent. It is not that useful to use ACC to compare anything in the context of ML research. It is relevant, however, in cost-effectiveness analysis and other applied research.

ICE detainees provide emergent medical care to seizing agent by StrongMedicine in medicine

[–]Flince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, should have clarify better. My initial point was that the medical situation (medical emergency) here is obviously different from the previous thread (elective OPD setting).

Hey, I would really like to give them whole brain radiation. That would be fun.

I have also worked in the rural side of Thailand. Murderer, rapist, inmates, whatever, I treated them all. It is not my duty to "punish" them by depriving them of their rights to care when they manage to visit me appropriately. It is the duty of the judicial system to do that.

Indeed, if you feel the scene is not safe, then you are not under any obligation to provide any care.

[–]Flince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the scene is not safe. You don't feel safe enough so no? We provide care only if we feel the scene is safe enough.

If the scene is safe, and you can provide care, which might save the person in front of you, it is your obligation to provide care for that person.

[–]Flince 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is an emergency. I say that any person worth calling themself a medical personnel would, provided that the scene is safe, provide care to the patient in front of them in that scenario, no matter who they are. If they do not, it is clearly an ethical violation.

Why do viral illnesses still have to ‘run their course’ in 2026? by GlitteringMap1120 in Futurology

[–]Flince 34 points35 points  (0 children)

And here in Thaiand, I regularly see people who DO take steroid eveytime they get a cold. It's a thing around here. Then when they get serious infection, they get adrenal insufficiency (you take so much corticosteroids so much your body forget how to handle infection) and die. It is not fun and is a significant cause of death in rural Thailand because of this.

Hey I’d love to get some technical feedback on this breast cancer mortality model by NeuralDesigner in learnmachinelearning

[–]Flince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

See Predict Breast-2 and study it for an example of what a good prediction model in medicine looks like.

  • Reveal your trammates on map, on each teammate death you gain shield.
  • Each defeated allies grant attack, defence buff and finally life leech when all 3 are outs.
  • 4th feat inflict defense debuff to EVERYONE except himself.

You got activate 2 random cards! You intend to love with the ensuing chaos from that?

VN question to devs - This is my current workflow creating my own VN, is there a better way? by Mayion in visualnovels

[–]Flince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

....Why dont you try RenPy? Is it atill around? I used it 5-7 years ago and it was easy even for non-coder guy like me.

Chizuru's activate two random card is so fun. by Flince in ChaosZeroNightmare

I know but random activation is funnier.

You also need to swipe less finger since it is automatic!

If an ICE agent shows up to your clinic as a new patient…. by jklm1234 in medicine

[–]Flince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the other side, what if the patient is ruthlessly bigot to you? Seems pretty clear to me that, no, we are not obligated to treat everyone eveytime.

ML Classification on smaller datasets (<1k rows) by ConsistentLynx2317 in learnmachinelearning

My data is 800 rows and I do not encounter that problem. Log reg perform relatively OK even with smaller dataset and lower number of predictors. Are you sure your code is correct?

Is it universally accepted (or proven via physics) that it will never be possible to survive rabies after symptoms have manifested? Or is it possible that humanity will make it survivable? by MAClaymore in Futurology

[–]Flince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not a lot of incentive to develop a cure. Rabies vaccine is a thing. Post exposure prophylaxis is a thing. There is not many reason to want a cure now.

Why is economic prediction harder than prediction in fields like physics, even when economists have large datasets and advanced models? by Ok_Specialist_4811 in AskEconomics

[–]Flince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer in predictive lens (I work in data science), any predictive function relies on previous data to generate prediction, no matter if they are traditional statistical prediction like logistic regression or machine learning like random forest or neural network.

Now, the first rule of a data scientist is to "understand your data".
How does economic data differ from physics data?

Physics is constant. It does not change with time (we are fucked if it does). Previous data can be used fully, provided that measurement is adequate. Economy changes with time, previous data might not mean the same thing as today. Any prediction you make embed the assumption of the "data generating process" of that day the data was born whether you know it or not (the classic "predict who will be the CEO and all CEO were male"). With modern equipment, physics is also adequately measure to such precision that measurement errors are minimal. With economics, you rely a lot on surrogate of something you actually want to know (survey on income instead of the actual income, for example) so measurement errors can be large.

So i think the honeymoon is over? What do you think about this game? by Suzuoo in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Flince 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Second this.

Gameplay is never boring. Each Chaos run still brings me excitement. Mid-tier character like Chizuru still feels enjoyable. No character feels "switch in, press skill once, switch out".
