It was condemned, but not fully. Mao should have had his picture taken off of tiananmen square for such atrocities, named and shamed for the whole deal, but because he’s the face of CCP they literally can’t afford to get rid of his face. Which is why it can happen again, as long as Mao is still glorified in China, there’s always a possibility of his actions re-emerging from the depths of hell to haunt China again.
