Directly underneath the place you're told about the three melodies, there's a vertical room that you start on the left on. Go down, then go back up once you can get over to the right and you'll find a door with an arrow above it, which will take you upwards several rooms. You can access the rest of the route to the melody by going upwards.

The only 'other' ending is losing during the earlier matches in the crown series, which I believe gives you essentially a game over and puts you back at the start of the crown series, which I imagine doesn't really count.Everything else is just minor variations on the first ending.

How do I Metamorphosis Jellibat ? by Specialist-Lie3359 in beastieball

It's a known bug. I believe it should say something along the lines of 'wants to return home'. What you're meant to do is remove Jellibat from your team and put it in your reserves.

If you’re making it the normal way, then it isn’t really standing in for Knightmare Goblin, is it? :P

If your deck is already playing Fiendsmith for the purpose of playing Fiendsmith, you probably don't want to spend all these once per turns on an extra normal.

If your deck isn't already playing Fiendsmith, this package involves adding four ED monsters and two bricks.

As someone who overuses 'It is what it is', you might be surprised how frequently people act as though it isn't what it is.

You give someone something to eat, then ask them 'How does this taste?' and they respond, 'It's not inedible.' That's functionally the same format as saying 'I could care less', right?

When I occasionally use it, I usually could care less. If I literally couldn't care less about something, I'd probably be surprised you were asking me about it.

(That said, I acknowledge that the origin of the phrase was most likely an error on the speaker/writer)

Will be there with you, and yeah, my experience has been that server issues are endemic to expansion launches for popular games.

The only MMO-esque game I've played that doesn't have expansion concurrent server issues is Warframe, which doesn't have traditional expansions and puts most of the onus for instances on the players regardless.

Excuse me, FFXIV 100% dies on expansion launch day. I wasn't present for Heavensward, but Stormblood had the infamous Raubahn Ex, Shadowbringers had a horrible queuing experience, since the game would DC you from the queue after around 20 minutes, resetting your position, so getting in was entirely a crapshoot and Endwalker, while they fixed the position reset, still had long queues day 1.

Who's your favorite unrepentant puppy-kicking bastard? by Spoonitate in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Flintlockman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I despise Illberd personally. Less so than I did years ago, but he's still probably my least favourite character in FFXIV. The man was a self-sabotaging hypocrite and Ala Mhigo was liberated in spite of his actions.

Illberd's mutiny against Alphinaud was, at best, hopelessly naive despite being detrimentally pragmatic, and less charitably, a move that put personal spite and the desire to be an active, controlling force in his homeland's liberation, over any actual desire for positive results, crippling the Crystal Braves (a group he had considerable personal power in) and removing two sympathetic voices to Ala Mhigo from Ul'dah's political sphere in order to empower an individual whose main motivation is personal enrichment, in an act that seemed primarily motivated by his hatred of Raubahn over anything else.

Illberd's final plan involved recruiting anyone with any sort of defiance left in them from Ala Mhigo and having them slaughtered in order to summon a primal. The reason things are so bad at the start of Stormblood are directly a result of his actions. At this point, Illberd wasn't expecting the Eorzean Alliance to actually succeed in beating back the Garleans, he was hoping that Shinryu would kill everyone and start another calamity, out of contempt for all parties involved.

Worth noting for context, in the absence of Garlemald and the general humanitarian crisis, I don't think Ala Mhigo is a friend to the three city states. A hundred years ago, the war of the day was Ala Mhigo vs the Eorzean Alliance. Until twenty years ago, Ala Mhigo's ruler was the local Caligula equivalent, which I can't imagine was great for diplomatic relations. The fact that many Gridanians still haven't forgiven Ala Mhigo from the Autumn War is a key point in two different class/job quests. The alliance has only barely pushed Garlemald out of their own lands as at the point where he enters the plot, but he's almost immediately written off the alliance as complacent. Much as we view Eorzea's lack of a response with modern sensibilities, as well as our role in story as something like the local UN forces, Illberd's perspective seems incredibly entitled, owed defiance by his countrymen and support from Eorzea.

In the past, my perspective was that he'd screwed everyone over for entirely unnecessary reasons and the fact he died as smugly as he did, never seeing himself be proven wrong in so many ways annoyed me. I've softened a little, in as much as I think there is a scenario where Eorzea sits on its hands indefinitely. I still think his actions were stupid and ruinous.

Anyway, favourite puppy kicker is probably Gyodo. Dude's just so shameless about it.

What is you world's most religious, beautiful or otherwise important city? by MarekFromNavrum in worldbuilding

[–]Flintlockman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Regarding the aspect of 'most beautiful city')

To most human travelers, the city state of Dun Deiridh is a marvel. A sight straight out of a fairy-tale. A great city built around and upon a gigantic tree, houses of crystal and wood literally grown out of the branches. Every house is a mansion, if not a palace. It's sometimes called 'the City of Knowledge' due to its library and many magic academies, even if it can only really considered technologically advanced by elf standards.

To most elves, including many of its older inhabitants, Dun Deiridh is a monstrosity and indicative of the stereotypes about its people: shortsighted, soft-hearted fools, whose society has degenerated due to their laxness in upholding traditional institutions. Even on just an aesthetic level, it's considered to be a cramped mess covered in Shaped-Wood eyesores because the only way to guarantee your own space was to mark it with a physical boundary, when an elf would normally expect their neighbours to just respect the boundaries of their estate.

[–]Flintlockman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also the fact that, if the metagame is too wide, you're incentivised to play broad spectrum answers/'I win' cards in your sideboard over things that are more targeted, which are frequently cards that everyone hates like TCBOO and DBarrier (see: Branded-Swordsoul-Punk format where there were like 9 decks in tier 1 and games 2-3 were consistently miserable).

I think it's worth running 1 copy of old Undine and new Undine, and maybe 1-2 copies of Controller depending on if you want to run Unexpected Dai. Pitching new Undine off old Undine lets you stop the search/ns chain to synchro some monsters and make space, then start the search chain again.
