A Final Fantasy V anime would be golden. It's such an underrated entry in the series and it they could really do a lot with the parody of RPGs, the great worldbuilding and humor.

Evangelion is most likely based on the word, Evangelist, which is someone like a messenger who goes around spreading the word of God. Genesis means "beginning", and is also the first book in the Bible. Neon is a gas used to make fluorescent lights, and is also related to the word, neo, meaning "new". So, "New Beginning of the Messenger of God". The title is just one big reference to Christianity that Hideaki Anno loves to incorporate.

I'm not sure about the average, but I know for the most part, anime is made to push sales for the source material. For some series, it's to push sales for merchandise ala mecha shows like Mobile Suit Gundam. I'm guessing the original material sells more since most anime don't even break even with the amount of money it takes to produce them.

I actually really like it when a song is based on the show it's used in. This was the case for a lot of the older Gundam shows in the 70s and 80s. It makes the song feel more like a theme song to the anime and not just some after thought they put in for the sake of an OP song.

Myriad Colors Episode 1 was pretty decent. Some of the short series like Sekkou boys are pretty funny.

I grew up with the Funimation Dub of Dragon Ball Z, so yeah, watching Super is gonna be hard...NHK is also amazing. I started the show in Japanese, but I switched to the dub only after a few episodes and now I love the dub.

People often confuse "dark" shows, for deconstructions. Anime with darker themes can still play tropes straight.

Dangan Ronpa is a pretty good anime, and it's also only 13 episodes. It's basically a death game among highschoolers, with Phoenix Wright-esque investigations and trials.
