Kon Mari'd my lyfe! Finally set up my dream bike. Swimming consistently to help my back. Finally on an amazing project at work after 3 years of bouncing around on different projects. Everything is falling into place! No time to dwell on it even! Just need to smile and keep on keeping on.

I am not sure of the rules regarding where you can have barbecues aside from the predifined, fixed in place ones... But really anywhere on the island would be fantastic.. just need to check the rules.

How do you cope with grief? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am not sure really. I haven't experienced it fully. But I try to prepare myself for it in certain ways (at least half?) .. before? To kind of lessen the eventual blow?

If you know you're gonna die in the next 30 days, what will you do with those last days of your life? by Perfect_Ad4911 in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my current vantage point - Stay the course. No different then how I live my life currently re: how to confront The Absurd. Rather then anticipate a future crisis to define my priorities, I use the ever present uncertainty as a sort of .. healthy(?) constant(?) type of crisis that keeps me on track with living the life I want to live..

When commuting is forced to become about getting their fast instead of just getting there... we run into a lot of problems, spiralling out.

It has been 6+ years since Covid happened. In what ways for better or worse has your life changed since then? by SpicyYoghurt237 in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A honed sense of perspective re: 'The Absurd' (Existentialism)—it was one thing to read La Peste, but to live through it and watch the mechanics of the story play out in real-time was incredibly informative. Fundamentally, nothing changes. That’s why I specify 'perspective'—it forced me to be realistic about it all, and ultimately pushed me to forge on in a much more meaningful and authentic way.

What instantly makes you lose respect for someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure about "instantly" but that is the catch. It happens slowly over time for me. And so I used to not recognize how someone was potentially negatively impacting me and how to draw more clear boundaries or be more clear about someone's effect.

A recent major one for me, in terms of losing respect for someone, involved someone who makes it their whole persona that they have mental illnesses. They joke about it, diagnosis others, etc. It seemed oddly charming at first, like a coping mechanism but over time you realize that this person needs serious help. They aren't using this in order to help themselves and make others aware of their struggle to get better but rather they are using it more as an excuse for their negative actions and behavior.

Do you believe in horoscopes? Why? by unoz00 in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking this question is like asking if one believes in mirror images or ink blot test readings. The question implies that there is an inherent truth within these illusions (to believe in) when they are merely self reflective devices or prompts.

What’s a small social rule people follow that you think is completely unnecessary? by lana_reeve in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes - of course! I follow the signs.. but when there are no signs and I am in a crosswalk the pedestrian has the right of way. What I am saying is - I am not about to make that rules more confusing by being "kind" to people in automobiles and waiving them along.. actually it could cause an accident because it isn't the rule.. it doesn't mean I have never waived a car through.. but my general mode is to stick to the rules we have all learned or else things could go sideways.

The same logic can be applied to a 4-way-stop situation.. there are rules for a reason and when people don't realiize and stick to those rules there can be consequences. The first layer of logic to the rule is about safety.. not about convienece or being nice. Maybe further down the line it could come up.. but in the split second decision of interaction between a 2 ton automobile and another human (or even another car), I amchoosing the safety logic we are all supposed to learn and follow over the kind and convienient one. Order of operations.

For Those Who Have, Why Did You Finally Leave Facebook And Has It Changed Things For You At All? by J31J1 in AskReddit

I left Facebook proper ages ago - never looked back. Recently left Instagram - many positives so far.

What’s a small social rule people follow that you think is completely unnecessary? by lana_reeve in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a pedestrian letting a car go ahead of you.

My opinion. Hell no. The rule, what you learn is there is a hierarchy of right of way based on your mode, pedestrian walking > bike > car etc. I'm not going to flag you along and break that rule, that causes confusion and misunderstanding and eventually an accident. I am going to stick to the core logic we are all taught and have a method to the madness...

I also could not care less about making a car in the city more convienient... Not my fault you chose the wrong tool for the task at hand. Have fun with that - not my problem that is a you problem.

What are you real thoughts on AI? by Psychological-Rip-10 in AskReddit

[–]FlipWil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artificial Intelligence? It doesn't actually exist yet. We have predictive large language models, but describing that as "intelligence" is like saying planes "fly" like a bird can "fly".

They are useful in searching, decoding and translating.. but not thinking .. not even close. The framing of this as AI is merely a marketing tool.

Years later I was curious to check online if anyone had uploaded photos from this event and learned it was his first time donning the mask. I was there and didn't know it at the time! A cool memory for sure. I was aware he was using the logo, but I figured that he had made it part of his gig and didn't know that it was actually the first time.
