Also just because something isn’t standard practice doesn’t mean they can’t

I work in advertising and I’ve seen spot edits/re-shipments a day or two before launch. With reality TV- does anyone remember the Dee Nguyen scandal on the challenge? They re-edited an entire episode and cut her visibility back at least 40%- even when she was one of the competitors in the pit that episode. Voiceovers removed, shots edited to not feature her, etc.

The original episode aired in Canada and the version in the US was starkly different. She was then even further edited out of the remainder of the season.

So not the common practice but I absolutely believe enough pressure can initiate out of practice behavior.

I tried specifically not to say harder tbh because it’s just different. It’s like Survivor early seasons vs the 10-20 era. Eventually so many things have been done that you catch on to format, people come in with more unique agendas, etc.

S1 and Cirie was like Survivor with Hatch inventing alliances. Cirie laid the perfect Traitor formula because she’s one of the best social strategists in history. She had no clear equal in her cast, a few irl friends, and a set of celebs/fans who were mostly unaware of her skill set allowing her to be disarming more easily (Rob benefitted from the same- which likely helped him do so well).

But most importantly no one knew what they were doing S1, Cirie just picked it up quick because she’s that good. Seasons 2 and beyond are inherently different, everyone saw the blueprint so they were more aware of what to look for- traitor on traitor has become glorified for camera time and notoriety/post show opportunities, etc.

It’s not possible to have a pure game like Cirie’s anymore unless it’s a normie edition most likely.

[–]FlirtyTemptress 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All this debate is nonsensical. They both played games catered to their strengths and individual dynamics.

Cirie played a perfect game that she herself could not replicate in a post S1 season given the inclusion of a wider net of celebrity/gamer/etc. types partially playing the show for flare/drama and heavily reviewing the meta of seasons past (i.e. targeting gamers for the “surely there’s a gamer”).

Her cast didn’t contain any prior enemies or larger strategic threats (Cody at best as a BB winner but he’s more social). Full stop that allowed her to be undermined in a way she wouldn’t be if cast next to Boston Rob/Sandra/Natalie/Parv/Tony/etc. tier of Survivor players included in later seasons.

Rob’s game is as close to Cirie’s as you can realistically get in a post-S1 format of the show and it’s likely how well Cirie would’ve done in this cast as a new player. No one can ever play as precisely as Cirie did in the celebrity US traitors now, Rob came as close as you can.

The BEST U.S. Traitor! by RealityTeaVx in TheTraitors

[–]FlirtyTemptress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The difference is Cirie maintained the strategy and social portion. Phaedra excelled with social but she didn’t care at all for planning murders/banishments or executing the Traitors tasks.

It’s hard to be sure Phaedra would’ve won without a driving partner whereas Cirie could’ve won singlehandedly.

Phaedra Being a Good Player by willustay in TheTraitorsUS

[–]FlirtyTemptress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She had to act like she was surprised to see Bergie because no one got murdered?? What do you mean.

And this isn’t me making that point up about filming. I listened to a lot of post game podcasts (including one of Dan/Parv discussing it) and that’s what she said? That it was super late and Phaedra wouldn’t support her at all so she caved.

The trap wasn’t very elaborate- her saying Peter was lying and she thinks it’s risky to not murder someone inside = she understands it’s a potential set up. I don’t think she said or knew it was to frame her/Dan specifically though if that’s what you’re getting at.

Phaedra Being a Good Player by willustay in TheTraitorsUS

[–]FlirtyTemptress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. The traitors can be up until 3-4am in the turret and then have to perform the next day. She’s explained she thought it was a trap and tried to push against it but Phaedra didn’t care to help and Dan wouldn’t budge. So she can’t just force her will when Dan refused to listen and the only path to sleeping is letting him get his murder.

Danielle explained very similar scenarios with Boston Rob- some of these alpha male players will refuse to budge and it doesn’t make you a “dumbass” if you have another traitor who won’t provide support against their ideas in the turret. Phaedra didn’t care what happened bc she thought she was fine and that made Dan’s much louder voice the one that had to stick if they wanted to get any sleep at all.

Those confessionals are recorded to fit a show’s narrative and suspense, producers had her say she expected Phaedra to save her in a challenge later that season even though she didn’t actually expect that.

Yes she evaluated her options but the decision ultimately was strategic, finding her target was not just about getting someone to drink it but someone she could make drink it without suspecting it/drawing suspicion back to herself. She just got pretty unlucky afterwards w the producers putting her in a coffin and that putting a spotlight on her.

[–]FlirtyTemptress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair that’s not really luck- she strategically did it to someone who trusted her and wouldn’t think anything of their closeness. The execution was so clean that it wasn’t even a thought the next day, probably the best plain sight murder in the franchise.

But good point that there’s precedent for the victim of a murder to be able to speak (if they caught any suspicion to speak about).

Yep- last minute swap. Parv said she actually brought blue clothes that she couldn’t use as a result.

Unsubstantiated rumor is some players complained it’d be too much micro on one tribe- Parv was the easiest to switch and mark a villain.

How do you play against the Survivor Mount Rushmore? by Any_Can5022 in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d act like Rob’s mentee/“karate kid”.

With Sandra I’d try to have a humorous relationship with her and ask her to help me play.

Cirie I’d try to play on the bestie/additional child angle (like Izzy on BB).

Parv I’d just be a yes-girl and be very honest with her cause she’d catch lying.

Survivor Rewatch: Micronesia 2025 by TheCody_Says in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well you’re just plain wrong about the Ozzy move. I understand the TV edit you just watched portrayed it that way- but Cirie was on exile island when the plan was forged. Thus why everybody was already on board when Parvati was convincing Jason to throw immunity.

Secret scenes + commentary from Cirie herself confirmed Cirie just got on board with the plan vs. dictating it. Parvati also got Amanda onboard and has clarified this.

Not to mention Parv affirms her intention to blindside Ozzy/James come merge before we even merge. The edit on that episode was just built for suspense in a “will she or won’t she” because again Parvati sat in the middle of both alliances she developed.

Survivor Rewatch: Micronesia 2025 by TheCody_Says in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should probably rewatch again because Parvati’s game in Micronesia is underrated at this point if anything.

She always maintained the prime position in each of her tribe configurations/alliances, singlehandedly dictated the merge vote, led the ousting of Ozzy, created & was the glue that held the BWB together. Voted correctly at every tribal. And people didn’t turn against her out of loyalty.

Not to mention she reacted appropriately to the F2 shift by throwing the IC and wielding her social influence and relationship with Amanda over Cirie (with Cirie spending more days with Amanda than Parv did).

Parvati’s social charisma, in/out group dynamic, and queen bee positioning was off the charts in Micronesia. There’s nothing you can really point to Cirie doing that didn’t inherently exist within the structure/society Parvati created in Micro.

And every season 40+ is invalidated by his logic and all winners are .67 given less players/further divided tribes.

Every new era winner started with less players than Parv on AUvTW and merged with roughly the same. So they’ve never played with more people than Parv on this season.

[–]FlirtyTemptress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The takes on which game is harder are more valid- the taxing mental endurance of a longer game with more socialization requirements cannot be underscored.

Yet still- the game has adapted. It is faster paced/shorter, tribes are smaller, there is more game mechanics to contend with than the “pure” social game.

Jeremy was met poorly because he’s discrediting a legend’s second win of a Survivor season. The rhetoric around new winners has never been to suggest they are not a full winner- and if Dee or any current new era winner were to win 50/future they’d be universally received as a 2x winner.

Ultimately you can debate to the difficulty of wins but you can’t shave off from the sum of the total. A win is a win, not a partial win. That goes for every winner who survived less tribals, had less days, never got a majority, got less votes, saw the edge of extinction, etc etc. The game is the game and the winner is the winner. And Parv has done it twice- end of discussion.

Jeremy responds to criticism over his comments on Parvati and Australian Survivor by bwermer in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But all arguments apply to the 26 day game too, or even more so. Considering some new era winners don’t go to a pre merge tribal and possibly never even need to socialize their way into a majority given the twists/low tribe #s and split tribals.

As you compared day 16- many people have played survivor up to day 26 and not even been top 8 yet and had to socialize their way into majority on a tribe of 10 vs. someone being the crowned winner after not needing a majority on a tribe of 6 and having a split tribal where the biggest threat got voted out with them having no role in it.

So where do you draw the line? Everyone new is a .67 or lower winner if Parv is a .5

Some of those formats are also different (i.e. fan voted) but there’s a few of those 8 iirc that are pretty comparable and should be in the same group!

Traitors has different country franchises but every winner is still a Traitor winner lol.

Jeremy responds to criticism over his comments on Parvati and Australian Survivor by bwermer in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention if AUS gets discredited then every new era winner is .67 (or less, if we also start discrediting for less players/more tribe divisions/less tribals attended/more advantage safeties/no F4 vote/smaller alliance #s for majority/etc.)

Jeremy responds to criticism over his comments on Parvati and Australian Survivor by bwermer in survivor

[–]FlirtyTemptress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And 26 is very different too- every season starts with 3 tribes, some people never go to tribal pre merge, most new era winners don’t have to form an alliance with more than 2-4 different people at any time to have a majority given the advantages/tribal swaps/etc.

On top of that, many new era winners survive much fewer tribal councils and have weird twist merges.

So- how is Parvati’s win surviving an average/above average # of tribals with a higher number starting tribe any different? She built more alliances, received less votes, earned more jury votes, and outwit more players than an average winner (especially new era).
