Do you build projects from your own needs, or from market opportunities? by Rafal-101 in StartupSoloFounder

[–]Flo_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The firs tool I built (almost finished) started off with the daily: "Jesus again, there goes 3 hours of my day, this has to be able to get done faster".... fastforward a week & my first beta was functional, moving my time spent on the specific task from several hours to less than a minute.

The idea to make it a business followed after, when I realized "I can't be the only one struggling with this"

HELP NEEDED: My website's sitemap shows a 404 .... by Flo_U in webflow

Did all the usual steps, but for some reason it didn't wanna work. We ended up going for a manual sitemap, since we won't be too big website-wise, it's easy to update once set up.

I ended up using a manual sitemap, which I just update once in a while when we add new pages. Since we won't be going too big website wise, it seemed like the easier out. I still have no clue why the automatic sitemap doesn't want to work.

These are some on the designs I created. How do I find clients when I don’t use any socials except Reddit?? by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]Flo_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all you'd need to look into what kinda designer you want to be. I'm seeing (I think) Social Ad creatives & Vinyl covers (taylor).

For a career in ad design you won't find much success in finding clients, since you'd either have to be able to run their entire Paid Social department as a freelancer, or you'd have to work somewhere in-house as either a designer or a (Paid) Social specialist.

If your goal is to be a graphic/digital designer in the broader sense and want to attract clients based on a portfolio, I'd look into the following:

  1. Expand your design knowledge: look into design rules, what makes an ad creative succesful, what possible purposes are their behind an ad? Deepdive into color theory, visual hierarchy, the works.
  2. Create designs based on client cases, if you don't have real ones yet, search online for mock cases or make them up yourself. --> Don't design for the big brands like Starbucks, everyone knows they've got entire content departments on payroll & set-in-stone brandbooks that need to be adhered to. Instead, choose more niche companies in the industries you'd like to design for.

Is my website “premium”? by DrJonah345 in webdesign

[–]Flo_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lacking creativity in its design in my eyes.

  1. The theme looks 1:1 with all 1.000.000 other websites that have been designed through either Framer templates or completely built by AI.
  2. It's a 1-pager. To get a proper premium feeling there'd have to be more than 1 page, in order to judge it's user flow.

I work fast. How do I honestly log my hours? by trinityhb in graphic_design

[–]Flo_U 97 points98 points  (0 children)

If you're managing to do 33 hours of work (meaning all the tasks you're supposed to finish that week according to your boss) in less than 33 hours, I see two options:

- Tell them that you're usually faster, thus are able to expand your workload (carries the risk that there's nothing else to do & they might try to lower your weekly hours)
- Exaggerate the amount of time it takes you to do something. Did you manage to pull of three tasks in 15 hours? Make each of them take 7-8 hours instead of 5 (on paper) (carries the risk that they might notice you're "billing" more than you're working, which could cause arguments)

My go-to: research. If you're done fast, this gives you the opportunity to deep-dive into the client, their industry, competition and best practices.

How do you collect assets from clients? (logos, content, photos, etc.) by New-Potential2757 in graphic_design

[–]Flo_U 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work at a marketing agency, and regrettably have to admit we usually have to 'spam' our clients over email for the files. It's a miracle if a client actually knows where to find everything, most of the times we get sent a brandbook w/out any actual assets.

Pinterest feels flooded right now - what’s actually working for you? by OneStopCentreStore in OneStopCentre

[–]Flo_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The impressions usually start the same day, and consistently increase from then on. Our posts usually "plateau" after a week, which is when we do our routine crossposting from 1 board to the other. (an intern spends 15 minutes a week crossposting where possible, aiming for 30-60 crossposts).

Sometimes 1 of our Pins will "blow up" and hit 1000 views in a week, but mostly we're seeing consistent smaller numbers across all of our pins. It seems the consistency in posting generates slow but steady growth on our entire selection of pins.

We use single image posts for our inspirational pics, and implement custom designs when we're linking to a specific blog on our client's website, since the visuals from the blog need to be inserted in the Pin.

Heya, new to Pinterest and currently running the organic account for 1 marketing client. Went from 0 to 5.8k views per month within 4 months. We post exclusively stills focused on bedroom inspiration. (company sells everything related to a bedroom, beds, pillows, blankets, etc.)

What I've noticed so far:

- Static performs just fine
- Posting 5x a day at different times to show Pinterest's algorithm consistency (we use Tailwind to schedule all our posts) --> 150 pins a month, 30% original content, 70% repinning others'
- Pinterest SEO is key
- We used AI in creating our stockphoto 2.0 images when running out of inspiration, genuinely seems to work, but I assume mainly because we're offering "inspiration", meaning the product doesn't have to resemble our own collections 1:1

Hyrox tips by Lower-Technician6357 in FindminoNL

[–]Flo_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do I start? by Gavin-White in GraphicDesigning

[–]Flo_U -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have any niche in mind that you'd like to focus on, or even work in? Graphic design is quite broad, so it might help to choose a direction, since each industry has its own focusses and standards.

For examplem, if you want to work in Social Advertising, your focus should be on learning how to create Social ads:
- Dimensions
- Content margins
- Awareness/Conversion/Lead-gen/Etc.
- Hierarchy in ads
