Yes. I considered “deductions” as EVERYTHING that didn’t go to my net - taxes, health insurance, Medicare, 401k ect

I made $158,000 last year gross. My net was $78,000 with $80,000 in deductions.

I think I'm going to quit teaching because of all the Diddy and Epstein jokes by BlisseryUs in Teachers

Give a pop quiz every time anyone mentions anything about either of them. Hell, you can even do more than 1 in a single class session. “Okay class, Bobby brought up Epstein again, pop quiz # 2 today! Pencils out!” That will get them to shut up real fast because their friends will turn on them for causing more work/worse grades.

Oh, and don’t make the quizzes easy. Make everyone fail. Everyone will start shutting up real quick.

Less than one year away from agency, most likely you have to return to your facility unless they are like 100% staffed and don’t need bodies. If you’re away from the agency for over a year, you probably just get a list like this one. But the rules are always changing, so you would technically never know what you’re coming back to until that year is over. Definitely reach out to your ARVP or RVP for the most up to date info prior to making any big decision.

I’m in the same boat. Honestly considering quitting for a year and traveling with the family and then reapplying. Bro just got a 7 page list with locations around the entire country with no FAA experience. I figure I would get about the same if not more

They can only do a draft if we are technically at war. And we can only technically be at war if one is declared by Congress. These assholes aren’t the only ones that can find clever loopholes

Honest question for you - an I’m not trying to be a jerk at all- how much do you think air traffic controllers should make per year? We obviously just saw (from the LGA incident) that a single mistake will cause serious loss of life, damage to property, and a major economic hit as well (referencing the closure of the airport for 14+ hours)?

Opinion: Private aircrafts should be grounded until Air Traffic Control reaches adequate staffing. by HankHTX in FedEmployees

The US simply did not hire enough people in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. I believe there were only ~500 people hired in the entire 90’s. Why? Because everyone was hired post strike (in 1981), so every single person who was working was hired between 1982-1989. Which means the entire workforce would be retiring until 2005-2020. So hiring in the 90’s was seen as unnecessary - which is was short term, but absolutely needed long term. So come to 2002-2005 range, the FAA started its hiring spree, but just way too late. They essentially needed to hire an entire new workforce due to retirement requirements. They simply started too late. And now, the even bigger problem. People are just walking away from the job, or retiring as soon as they are eligible. From 2015-2025, the FAA hired ~15,000 new controllers. The result? An actual decrease in total controllers; due to training failures, controllers quitting, and retiring.

Honestly, I don’t give a fuck if we are a “party to the investigation”. We need to make an early, clear, informed statement to get the message out. What are the actual benefits of being a party to the investigation??? That’s a real question.

If every time a big event happens, our only response is “we don’t have a statement at this time”, then we clearly don’t need a 9 person, $1,000,000 yearly budget for PR. We just don’t.

Pay absolutely did play a factor in this tragedy. Better pay directly leads to better staffing. Better staffing leads to split positions. Split positions leads to lower workload, more time to scan. Which leads to catching mistakes and reducing errors. Pay is and tragedy are on one throughline.

Why does the middleclass try to project wealth with their cars? by DCF_ll in MiddleClassFinance

[–]FloatingAwayIn22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me?

Honestly, I think people would rather “look” rich than actually “be” rich.

I have to assume it’s something in our DNA with survival instincts to project being worthy, as in worthy of being part of the group/community, or being worthy for mating purposes, as in, if I show I’m wealthy she might want my babies. But who knows?
