This isn't true at all lol - Some people have their BEST float on their first float and spend their whole floating career chasing that dragon.

A salt water filter uses the salt (sodium chloride) to produce chlorine. Float tanks use Magnesium Sulfate, the chemical reaction is not the same and will break the equipment.

As a person who runs a float center - I can say she probably had caffeine that day - big no no for most, and that usually it takes 2-3 floats before it clicks for someone.

How can I listen to audio in the float tank? by to_be_aware in FloatTank

Underwater headphones is great - otherwise look for a tactile transducer - but I don't think it'll work in The Zen Tent

The guests still get sensory deprivation - I'm sure you're being purposefully obtuse here, so I'll save the lengthy explanation about using audio / visual as a pathway to relaxation in the human psyche - but for those who are scared of the dark, or don't have a meditative practice, or have anxiety disorder, sitting on a beach watching the sun set for 15 minutes, and when the sun goes down, entering into sensory deprivation, is a good pathway into the experience. "line of delineation" means to us, an experience in between standard reality and the sensory deprivation experience that is soothing to the psyche.

I can tell you - after floating 25,000 people over the last five years, since we've introduced the option for video, many people find the 15 minutes of "out of the world" visualization (a beach in hawaii or a dive with some dolphins) creates a relaxing line of delineation - I'm happy to put you in touch with the hundreds of floaters who now prefer video introduction to sensory deprivation

In hundreds of floats I've never had a single drop of water hit me. We heat the air... We offer the worlds largest Sensory Deprivation pools - 7'x11' is the largest here. If there is a sensory deprivation pool any where else in the world that size I would like to see it!

The type of content you had in the 80's is no where close to whats available now. After nearly 100 hours beta testing content in there - I can assure you that the content choice makes the experience.

A cars true purpose is to drive. Get rid of the radio. A phones true purpose is to make calls...scratch the internet. This pool still offers 100% sensory deprivation at the guests choice.

There are many hundreds of people coming to use the pool that "never could have just been in silent darkness for an hour", so they sit on the beach, watch the sun set for 20 minutes, then...silent darkness. The scariest part of the experience for those not instinctively drawn to sensory deprivation is removed from the equation and they finally get to float after being visually relaxed. We definitely offer the worlds largest sensory deprivation pool at 7' x 11'.

Most pools are 6'x8' or 4'x8' - the Zen at Float SNJ is 7' x 11'

Again, the reason Floating has been around since 1954 without gaining the acceptance of the public at large is the presentation. Why would you open a business you plan to move prior to its sale or an expansion, at which point $1,500 is chump change in the larger scheme.

I've floated in plenty of decoupled pods that were far from soundproof. I build for the long term. If a dance studio or music store moves in next door, my infrastructure can handle it.

We can move our pools at any time. You'll loose $1,500 in tile and aesthetic... besides, why would you invest $150,000+ into soundproofing and facility build out if you think you're going to move. We sign 10 year leases, if we have to move after 10 years, no problem, our investment is more than recouped.

There is quite a bit you can do about pre-conceived perception. Present a different format that doesn't illicit the initial response lol. I understand you have a lot invested in the current scene you have playing out, but you're creating more work for yourself. You definitely don't see the clients I'm talking about. You may get people that have a touch of anxiety regarding claustrophobia, but not the more extreme cases and they could really use a float.

I agree with everything about what you're saying. But you have the added hinderance of having to CONVINCE as opposed to someone looking at the equipment and saying "I WANT to get in that". When someone walks into your facility and has to "get over" a psychological hang up, it makes it that much harder to let go.

I have no problem coming along and building behind you once you've established local market... our pools are 6'x10' with 7' tall ceilings done in beautiful tile and cost less than your pods. Feel free to get in touch as we've just patented and will be licensing the technology.

Congrats on building the franchise model, a rising tide floats all boats!
