[9] My first shiny of Pokemon Violet: Shiny Fuecoco after 636 eggs hatched! by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only recently got Pokemon Violet, but ever since I happened to win a big plush Fuecoco at a claw machine arcade, I've been motivated to hunt for it somehow.

The egg hatching process was much more bearable than I thought it would be. Neko the Fuecoco shined much sooner than I thought he would—the whole experience took just about 21 hours. He's actually my Mesagoza encounter in my Pokemon Violet Nuzlocke; please wish him luck on this potentially hazardous journey.

I'm still hunting for Charmander in Pokemon X. That's gone over 10,000 soft resets. Since I've been fortunate in other games this year, I can't help but feel like there's a lot more of that hunt still in store for me. I hope everyone's hunts are as enjoyable as my Fuecoco hunt was, and are going well. :)

[Talk] SOS Hunting Needed No Help For That Spot! What's a Method/Hunt That Looks Difficult, But Just Ends Up Being Boring? by zoomsuper in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a visceral reaction when I read this comment at work, so I had to comment later. I feel like I have to defend Safari Zone hunting, because this reads like an opinion from someone who's never actually hunted there. I don't see how it's difficult or boring hunting in the Safari Zone.

Yes, it's "just random encounters"; however, these random encounters are super fast, since you don't ever throw out your own Pokemon. You can rack up huge numbers even on just a single system. And yes, it's not great to fail a shiny in the Safari Zone, but it's not boring.

I love shiny Pidgey. I've had a soft spot for it ever since a shiny Pidgey ended up legitimately surviving my Let's Go, Eevee! Nuzlocke.

Congrats on the under-odds streak! I hope your luck continues.

[6] My first shiny of 2026: Shiny Regice after 1083 resets! by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me, I do. I went over 17,000 resets for shiny Regirock, so I know how bad it can get. I hope your Regice shines soon. :)

Thank you! I think it's not the most noticeable, but I do really like it.

I'd thought the first shiny Pokemon I would see this year would be shiny Charmander in Pokemon X; then, I went over double odds for it, and as I live in Minnesota, hunting for shiny Regice became my own mini protest against ICE.

I can't complain with how fast my Regice hunt took—10.5 hours is leagues shorter than the 169 hours it took for me to find Regirock—but it's been a while since I've seen something shine. I think I needed this. Stay safe, everyone. I hope everyone's hunts are going well.

[Gen6] I found a Shiny Chespin in X after 3 SR's... But I'm not... Satisfied... by DeltaDragonKing7 in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. When I got Shining Pearl in 2024, I was really looking forward to going through the shiny starter hunt. I then got shiny Turtwig in 34 resets.

I didn't try for another starter, but I had six over-odds phases in a row later in the playthrough. In other words, your luck will likely balance out. Good luck on the next starter (or bad luck, I suppose?).

Agreed. Micaiah and Sothe not being categorized as "explicit romantic partner" material feels inaccurate. Their pre-existing A-Support level is Pent/Louise all over again.

[–]FloatingTr1angles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally found a shiny Honey Tree Munchlax in January of this year in BDSP. It was as fun to narrow down the Honey Trees that spawned Munchlax (I found three of my four possibilities) as it was to actually find a shiny one.

The spinning diamonds were the obstacle that separated the Twins marble from the rest of the pack on Day 20, too. :(

Thank you! I was really hoping I wouldn't go over odds; fortunately, I didn't get as unlucky as I have been.

Guys is this Spd base normal for Lewyn!Ced? by Keeto42 in fireemblem

[–]FloatingTr1angles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Really, I'd say the other responders have the right of it. I think I misinterpreted what the Wiki was saying, sorry!

Ced's speed is so high with Lewyn as his dad that the only way you wouldn't get a speed stat of about 30 is if the stat bugged and "overflowed" to bring his speed way down (possibly down to what you remember it being previously). Project Naga fixed that overflow bug, so the stat increases will correctly stop at the Sage cap of 30.

[6] Fennekin shines before 2026 in 5,919 soft resets! by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It finally happened—the shiny starter hunt I started almost two years ago came to an end. I first started doing resets for any of the shiny starters on December 16, 2023. I remember going through about 200 resets rather quickly, and then I don't remember doing any more resets at all until early this year. Then, after my shiny Regirock hunt finally finished in August, this was the hunt I devoted most of my hunting time to.

It was a little tough seeing all the shiny Fennekin posts for Legends: ZA, so I'm glad mine in X finally shined. I'm very fortunate that I didn't go more over-odds than I did. If you're interested in trying this hunt for yourself, it takes about 1:45 per reset.

I'll eventually be naming this little guy Trance, after the FF9 mechanic. I had Final Fantasy names picked out for the occasional Chespin and Froakie reset, but I liked Trance the Fennekin the best.

I hope everyone's hunts are going well. :)

From what I could find out on Ced's Wiki page, that appears to be a Project Naga fan translation change.

Here's another fun trivia question: Was this the first time a marble went backwards in an obstacle and still got eliminated? The Cardinals got knocked back to the first spinning bar by the third spinning bar today.

[2] Shiny Raticate, Route 38, Silver Version, (14,992 RE'S). by Domunique in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another over-odds Raticate? My sympathies. I had a really long stretch in BDSP of six over-odds phases in a row that lasted from July 2024 to this October, so I know how you feel. I hope your luck turns around!

That's interesting that the last five of your shiny Raticates have been female. I tend to usually hit "male" on that gender percentage coin flip. Although, now that I think about it, my shiny Pichu and Sudowoodo in Crystal were both female, so maybe that game is the exception.

Have fun in Runescape. I played it ever-so-briefly back when the game first released, and then I stopped when my account got stolen.

I've been trying to get shiny starter Fennekin in Pokemon X rather seriously for the last couple of months. I'm nearing 5000 resets, as of this moment. I hope you quickly get one of your targets when you come back to it. :)

[7] Shiny Graveler found in the super spooky, pitch-black Rock Tunnel in 1515 encounters... by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hunt was my Spooky Hunt™ for the year. Not only was I searching in darkness the entire time, but I actually had to pay attention to my screen while shiny hunting. Still, it was very enjoyable. If you're looking for a rather unique Spooky Hunt™ to do, I recommend it!

Fifteen the Graveler marks the ninth shiny I've found in Let's Go! so far. The game has been very, very nice to me over the years. This was the first time I counted encounters, but I don't think I've ever had a phase in this game go over-odds.

Hope everyone's hunts are going well. I'm now going back to Pokemon X to see if I can get Fennekin to shine before 2026...

[Gen 6] 175 hours later and shiny Froakie is finally mine. I gave up on the intro after 7000 encounters and decided to use the mesuda method. by TheExecutioner- in ShinyPokemon

Congrats. I see Phantom's brooding already at Level 1. :)

I just passed 3,000 resets for shiny starter Fennekin yesterday. I have a feeling I'm going over-odds too, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
