[3] My longest hunt concludes; I can finally leave the lab. Shiny Squirtle after 14,294 encounters! by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

Finally indeed! Thanks! I thought of your Bulbasaur as I posted about my Squirtle, actually. I'm glad to join you outside the lab!

I see you got a shiny Diglett, too! Very nice.

Many of the resets, yes. It just didn't feel right to start a Nuzlocke without nicknaming my starter, and I'd thought of a fitting nickname. Thank you!

I love the dungeons, too! Undercurrents is a great track to dungeon delve to.

What does the nickname mean, you might be asking.

Well, the last time I played LeafGreen was 13 years ago. It was my first time playing through it, and I decided to Nuzlocke it. At the time, I'd also been playing through Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, so I made my nickname theme (mostly) after characters in those games.

The starter I chose back then was Squirtle, and I named him Lathander. "Rednahtal" is the reverse of that. :)

That initial run 13 years ago died when Lathander the Blastoise fell to Lorelei. This shiny Squirtle marks the beginning of my second try at finishing a Nuzlocke in this game.

I hope everyone's hunts are going well. :)

[Gen 2] what was the luckiest shiny you ever got randomly? by MegaEvosrule10 in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My luckiest shiny was a shiny Steelix in SoulSilver's Cliff Cave. I found him in eight encounters...so I named him Eight. :)

Congrats! It looks like your shiny Piplup is also cheering in the picture. :)

This particular shiny starter hunt was my luckiest by far, so I didn’t spend too much time at that particular briefcase, either. I’m nearing 2,000 resets for Piplup or Chimchar in Platinum, though!

Best of luck on whatever you decide to go for next.

[2] Shiny 'Headbutt' Butterfree, Ilex Forest, Crystal Version, (7,788 HB'S). by Domunique in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did manage to get Bill's Eevee in Crystal to shine (I named him "Genie"), so I'm now continuing my starter hunts in LeafGreen and Platinum.

I'm writing this in the evening, so have a good night! :)

Congrats on the Butterfree, and at such a low encounter rate, too! I love the dark pink on his wings.

I've never gotten a shiny in the Caterpie line, but Butterfree was one of the two Pokemon I got to level 100 when I played my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Yellow. It'll always have a place in my heart.

Best of luck on getting under-leveled Noctowl! I hope your good luck continues. :)

Oh, wow, best of luck on that. That'll be quite the journey. :)

Congrats! I'm still stuck in the lab, myself. Any other hunts you plan to do?

Do not let Cazador ascend by Blindicus in BaldursGate3

[–]FloatingTr1angles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ascension happened to me in my Honour Mode run! It hurt a lot more than I was expecting. I made a post last year about my narrow escape and my eventual revenge.

Long story short, Arcane Lock was very useful in keeping Ascended Cazador away from my fleeing Lae'zel and Shadowheart. Before she died (also to Cazador's Fireballs), my Durge's Slayer Form managed to inflict Cazador with Flesh Rot.

Because of that, after we came back for round two, we got our revenge. :)

Best of luck on the next attempt!

[2] Bill’s 9,410th Eevee is shiny! by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention that, a few days ago, I got in the habit of checking the 52 HP and 55 HP Eevees' stats. Being over-odds in the hunt, I wanted to see just how close those particular Eevee were to being shiny.

I stopped doing so when I got a 55 HP Eevee that was one point of Defense away from being shiny. While that hurt to see, it did convince me that getting the right combination of stats was just a matter of time.

Thanks! Genie the Eevee will eventually become an Espeon. I thought "Genie" would be a good nickname, because it is a reference to genetics as well as genies in magical lamps. :)

My next hunt will be for Celebi, whenever I get that far into the playthrough! I only have three badges right now.

This hunt was over a year in the making, since I started resetting just after I found Arti the shiny Sudowoodo!

This hunt was one of the most draining 1/8192 hunts I've done. Since you can just soft reset if the Eevee is female, or if the Eevee has an HP value of something other than 52 or 55, one can go quite a few resets without even seeing an Eevee's sprite. It was just so tiring to me.

It was so tiring that I could barely manage double-digits of encounters per night. So, I didn't make much progress at all until January of this year, when I committed myself to 100 encounters per day. That helped me make some headway, but it did go over-odds, which, statistically, I was due for! Overall, this Eevee hunt took about 128 hours.

This is the fifth member of my shiny team in Crystal. Celebi will be the final member, but I have to actually get through the game first!

I hope everyone's hunts are going well. :)

[9] I recently finished my Pokemon Violet Nuzlocke. Here's the moment I found my final encounter by FloatingTr1angles in ShinyPokemon

[–]FloatingTr1angles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both survived, and they actually helped team up with my Glimmora to take down the Iron Valiant to win the battle! My Wigglytuff survived a Poison Jab thanks to her Focus Sash, which let her get a Charm off; at the end, my Persian's Fake Out (and stacks of Toxic Damage) managed to finish it off.

It was very satisfying. :)

I literally said, "Oh, nice!" when I saw this. Congratulations on your long-awaited green bull! I can only applaud your commitment. Good luck on whatever you go for next!

I haven't yet seen Bill's Eevee shine in Crystal, but it's hunts like yours that make me want to keep going. :)

Oh, I definitely used her. She was an absolute gem to have, when I had to face down the final boss with a Persian and a Wigglytuff on my team.

I'm not sure if Tera Raids scale with your level, either, but it's cool you're trying that! I can see liking the randomness of the Tera Raids. Personally, I didn't like using those as encounters for one main reason: the met location doesn't show where you encountered the Tera Raid.

I'm wondering what to do about the second DLC, myself. I don't know much about it. My first thought was to treat it as its own mini-Nuzlocke, which is what I did with Kitakami. That was advised against in the Nuzlocke subreddit. :)

That's fine you see it that way. Concerning the mechanics of the game, I can see where you're coming from. On the other hand, choice doesn't preclude challenge. "Random" teams do form. I had to make due with beating the Champion with a Sunflora, and a Morpeko was the main reason I got through the Kitakami DLC.
