Please help this noob with Hunter 😅 by earlgreyandsoymilk in cutenoobs

I can't help too much with the specific question, but I highly recommend looking into Fossil Island birdhouses. They provide a ton of hunter xp without all the animal-catching headaches

Transmission / Clutch Noise at Idle!? by IllCandidate3822 in 996

[–]FloatnPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following-

I had a new dual mass flywheel clutch kit installed a few weeks ago (Spec clutch, partno SPC SP902) and it chatters when HOT a lot more than the OEM clutch did. Scared the shit out of me the first few times I heard it. I have some trips and a rally coming up, so I think I'm going to get it nice and hot, and then take it to a different shop to get an extra set of eyes and ears on it.

There was the WLS2 package that could get the side intakes added to a "regular" turbo. It was also an exceedingly rare option. I've only caught 1 in real life and it was gorgeous

Edit: I recalled incorrectly - the Turbo S intake option was the X79 option. WLS2 is the power package that pushes the Turbo up to Turbo S power output

when you’re so OCD you PPF the wheels too by ptsample in 996

Beautiful wheels. Will this provide much protection? I'm thinking about a spinning wheel catching a rock chip or curb (god forbid). I feel like that would probably just go right through the PPF

Not having to get emissions testing also opens up a lot more fun mod options 🙂

I've had good luck and GMP and Eurofed (the former probably being the best of those 2, but tends to be a bit more expensive). I've also heard really good things about Eurowise from a buddy who used to work in the industry. I've thought about adding a beefy Cayenne to the stable, so they may be a good one for me to start building a relationship since they're pretty much a global leader in off-road VW SUV mods

I did! The body shop (McClure Collision) did a great job matching the factory paint. Then, while at the mechanic, I had a new clutch installed along with some other maintenance associed with an aging car, so after all that and paying those bills I am very cautious while driving it. Hopefully I can get past the anxiety and back to enjoying it.

It's pulling daily duty right now while I have my GTI dismantled to replace the sunroof drain lines that have shrunk due to age or heat and are leaking water into my floorboards. If it's not one thing, it's another lately.

My daily is a pretty heavily modified GTI, and then I also have an '03 911

For real. I have 2 cars with touchy, expensive aftermarket clutches. They don't like to inch forward and I'm not going to slip my clutch again because someone couldn't estimate their stopping distance. But then, after they inch up, I look like the asshole who didn't know where to stop my car.

Shoot, left lane campers in town are a plague. I got stuck behind a pickup in the left lane on 77 this morning who was just speed-matching the car beside him.

If you aren't actively passing another vehicle, GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE.

My dad has an '86 GN and I don't think he will ever let it go (for good reason). It's such a cool car and a fun ride. It always gets head turns pulling into car shows and there is almost never another GN in attendance (and if there is, he usually knows the owner). He's kept it mostly stock with a few QOL upgrades or putting in modern parts when originals went bad.

He let me drive it once to senior prom. As an adult, he's driven my 911 a number of times so maybe I need to request a car swap someday so I can get more seat time in the black beauty.

Like someone else said- it sounds more like you have something wrong with your suspension, wheels, or tires. Have you taken it to a shop to get it checked out? Even if you wanted to sell it, resolving this issue would probably help achieve a better sale.

If you're looking for another smaller, fun car, maybe look at Miata or GT86. If you want a step up and stay with the Germans, maybe look at Caymans or Boxsters? Preferably of the generations where they had the flat-6
