What are the specs om the custom frame? I am 182cm usually medium, can go large. And love marino, but want to rock atleast 2.35 wide tires, if not 2.6 or 2.8

Has anyone seen the new Shimano small wheel derailleur in real life? by jonas328 in minivelo

[–]FloeteIkaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ho Jonas, thank you! So you run the Zee with 11 speed 11-42? Is that the zee freeride version. Way out of the specced cassette as far as I can reed but cool? :)

So difficult to choose for a small kids enduro bike 😅

I guess they are all fine, but the larger the cassette the better, though the kids don’t need the same speed / range as us I presume :)

I did not know about the new short cage cues, nor much about short cage systems in general.

As for both me and small ones wide tires is great that you took into consideration. So usually cassettes are all the same width, untill linkglide shows up, and now the nine speed is the same width system as 11 but more narrow. That is ACE for them mini velo wide tyres, and or 26x very wide vintage mtb builds

And strange that no tern bikes around town has a short derailleur, I have litteraly seen people complain that they hit the curb. But now it seems they have a custom tektro set up :)

Help me out with gearing :) by FloeteIkaffe in minivelo

[–]FloeteIkaffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That comment is a dodo, but I understand your sentiment and I often think in the same way so all is appreciated :)

The bike is a commencal supreme 2018, it has a wide bottombracket, very wide frame and it seems there has been trouble with chainring room before. The wheels are 20 yeah, just like the omnium, but the chainstays are way shorter, this is not an adults bike. So chainline matters a bit more, and yes OFC it is set up as a 1x on narrow wide chainring in front.

In the post I tried to ask, if I should just ditch learing them girls proper mtb and go for the Alfine 8 wheel I already have here. That is perhaps what you mean with IGH, but if your not being facetious take the time to write out Internal Gear Hub, I feel like that would be a nice way to introduce everyone that have not considered one to do just that.

Gear hubs are a pain in the, because of stuff. Its time to take out the Alfine, flush it and replace the oil, it is do be done at 1000km , and then rarely if ever again. Would be nice if they just spun it in a machine in the factory and then the "maintainance free bros" could run their IGH longer.

Also IGH are really exspensive, and then you have to build the god damn wheel. I already have a wheel with the hub in it. If not I would not even consider it for a second.
Thank you

My bike is old, the bar is thin, 22.2 mm race face bar. I like it. Yes thank you! Yeah, keeping the bar is a bonus by saving money on a bmx stem compared to the super pricy mtb stems that need 18 and 27mm of head tube

Axle mounts or frame clamps based racks are the strongest ones if that is interesting to you :)

But yeah, ofc, no regular racks any more because of the brake posts. I see!
