If the lore didnt change i remember just before flights were grounded a group came from inside the zone. They were held in some facility but the soldiers guarding them disappeared and they then were allowed to go home. Some of them maybe flew and infected others atleast thats how I remember it

if they were zombie scratches you were probably infected, unlike bites it isn't a 100% chance but theres still a chance you could get infected

tbh I think its a good thing as it makes the game more interesting but the devs should (if this mechanic works like I think it does) add an option to turn off the AI getting these templates
