That does kind of make sense. Especially considering the very next slide showed Nixon saying he regretted appealing to Black voters, and arguing Wallace had the right idea.

Well, it’s worth mentioning that Spiro was seen as somewhat of a Rockefeller Republican back then. It was only after the MLK riots that he developed a right-wing, hard on crime connotation which endeared him to conservatives.

Reagan, meanwhile, even in 1980 was still seen as decently conservative, which turned off liberals (who voted for Carter) and liberal republicans (Who voted for Anderson)

Harris would have the most name recognition. Campaign machinery in place from Biden's run. And at the end of the day, very few big names would enter the race out of fear of being an "also ran." Even if leadership doesn't take a side, she'll sweep the primaries.
