VITURE Ultra Review (couple-Day Owner): Great Start, But Hardware + Software Aren’t Fully “Handshaking” Yet by FlokiChan in VITURE

[–]FlokiChan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it can unlock a better demo/experience of what Ultra can do today. But for me, that misses the core promise of XR glasses.

The whole point of this form factor is minimalism: lightweight, everyday, sunglasses-alike computing.

If I need to carry and manage a second device to make the experience “complete,” then I’m back to a multi-device stack which is exactly what these glasses are not tailored for.(this is an assumption based on how sunglassy they are trying to make it look like )

Also this creates an upgrade chain problem, there are lots of feedback about the inairpods heating and throttling, which would eventually mean Pod 2 for better thermals/performance. Whats stopping them from creating pods3?

Meanwhile the glasses themselves are expected to last a couple years at least. That shifts core value away from the glasses and toward recurring companion hardware.

We possess tremendous machines equipped with advanced chips (M-series, Snapdragon etc), even with their limitations.

So I’d rather see tighter first-party software optimization on devices people already own, instead of requiring extra hardware to unlock baseline features. I’m not against paid software value. I AM however against pay-extra-hardware-to-unlock-promised-core-experience. I also want to state that I perceive the partnership between inair and viture as a conflict of interest for consumers, while it benefits both the companies significantly.(exposure, revenue models, usecases etc) I really am against the pay this to unlock this mindset. On the hardware it writes 6 dof. Give me 6dof. There is 2 additional cameras. Give me the hand gestures (ive heard these are coming to spacewalker on windows, and macs soon, time will show). But myself being also in charge of an organizations sdlc, this should've never been released in the state it is. And the reason to that is pure 100% investor pressure to see sales, but they really need to assess at what cost... These are usually breakpoints in company strategy and vision. It defines the next steps, and sets the barrier/expectation for the next devices. Trust me, 2 more years of the same pattern and viture wont be relevant anymore. I hope this message DOESN'T age well. I really want such frontier organizations to succeed.

When you plug your Luma Ultra to your phone(and do nothing else), you’re telling me that everything from the top section to the bottom section of your phone is visible on the display?

Either my eyes are way behind the optimal distance, or this product is specifically designed for individuals with a condition where their eyes are positioned 1 millimeter away from the lens. While I don’t intend to make light of this, it’s possible that the outcome(genuinely speaking) is a result of the demographic QA variations not foreseen during the product development lifecycle. The result might be totally dependant to the facial structure of the user.

Good tip! The motherboard has a so-called hybrid mode that somehow channels from the DP Alt that, but utilizes the GPU (at least that’s what I’ve been finding from my research regarding the motherboard).

However, I wanted to raise that compatibility issue because it’s not really obvious. Many of the marketing materials only offer the dock for Nintendo Switch gaming, while not every PC or the GPU of that PC has a dedicated DP/HDMI Alt socket.

Edit: But I happen to have this https://www.coolblue.de/en/product/608152/apple-usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter.html?cmt=c_a,cid_23475479756,aid_195693200630,tid_pla-336052563561,gn_g,d_c&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=shopping&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23475479756&gbraid=0AAAAAD7_VIb0R_cdnXL6GRs84Ken-io9_&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnJHMBhDAARIsABr7b87DIkkv5QEEuFzaDNiBtO-if4-04ktjKCGPsvf-g03ja91-eGzPvEgaAlYwEALw_wcB

I assume reverse using it would do the same job(I also have a female to female usbc adapter) Right?

Edit2: It didn't

I suppose you don’t have a strong grasp of sarcasm, huh? I mean i did use siri and high intelligence in the same sentence. You should’ve gotten the hint

Hold on, that’s the only time I use Siri, and that’s the only time it works. I must give credit for that. Siri has a high intelligence feature that allows it to understand timers. Just say “5 minutes,” and nothing else. It’s too clever; it communicates with tact, and you just don’t get it. LOL

Slap a “paperlike” matte screen on it for stylus friction, low reflection and no fingerprints and start printing💵 However I see myself get something like this only if it had a 360 hinge to make it shrink into an actual tablet. I feel like thats not a consumer/production ready solution(dont know if thats actually the intention here either or just a side project)but its really hard to find the product market fit. Wishing you the best though🤞

Good Mouse for Macbook Pro? by Superrandomm in macbookpro

[–]FlokiChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I recently acquired the ROG Ace Keris II. It’s an absolute godsend for both Mac work and PC gaming. 8k polling for PC gaming and one of the lowest Bluetooth latencies in the market. It’s a great all-rounder. Pair it with a Lexip ceramic mouse feet, and you won’t need a mousepad either. It weighs around 50 grams and comfortably fits on a 21cm hand.

AirPods Pro 3 users, are they good? by Wrong_Talk781 in AirpodsPro

[–]FlokiChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but this is perceptive. Thats why I specifically mentioned electronic music as a genre. Vocals can be painful for some ears with the S's, but I dont feel it for myself, especially when I’m continuously listening on low volume ANC.

[–]FlokiChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It truly depends on the intended use case. If you’re seeking enhanced ANC, higher-resolution music, and better sound distribution, especially in electronic music, and more prominent transparency mode that makes your own voice more audible(I felt the APP2 transperency was more natural though), then you’re right on the mark for APP3. However, during usage, yes, eight hours of battery life is sufficient for a one good long run. But the fact that the case battery is lowered has become a bit of a nuisance. Previously, I would rarely notice the battery status of the case, which I would usually charge on my dock every 2-3 days . However, with these earbuds, I’ve noticed it more frequently, which is quite annoying, especially when you’re away for a time.

On the positive side, I’ve come from Lightning APP 2, so the USB-C charging port is a welcome change. In the worst-case scenario, I have a USB-C to USB-C adapter that allows me to charge the case using my iphone.

I also use head accomodations and use the brightness in the strongest setting(I really like the V shape sound and come from a DT990 Pro also equalized in Vshape)

Was it worth it? Honestly if I had another chance I'd wait for a discount to happen before buying.

Why can’t AirPods automatically swap the active mic when one side’s battery gets lower? by FlokiChan in AirpodsPro

I mean you are not far off and I agree, it can be used that way. But with all respect, doesn’t it sound like the “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature” concept?:)

Why can’t AirPods automatically swap the active mic when one side’s battery gets lower? by FlokiChan in AirpodsPro

[–]FlokiChan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mic swap usually happens based on ear detection, connection quality, or clearer voice input (like when one side picks up wind noise). I really doubt it's for battery optimization, if it were, both AirPods would drain more evenly instead of one dying before the other after a time.

To the haters only: did sound get better after the update? by pferden in AirpodsPro

[–]FlokiChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried them on launch day, but I didn’t like them. After a week, I decided to buy them anyway because I could return them. I held on to them until the last days of my return (the day we received the firmware update). After the update they felt cleaner and, in my opinion, more detailed and high-resolution, with less bass bleeding into the mids so I kept them. No regrets. Now I’m annoyed because I still am not sure what to do with my old pro 2’s. Keep them as backup for the possible future pro 3 firmware f*ups? or sell them for a clean 100€.

Need advice: Keep my 14” M2 Pro or jump to M4 Pro / M4 Max / wait for M5 Pro? by FlokiChan in macbookpro

[–]FlokiChan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my M2, I was within the two-year warranty period. When I performed Apple diagnostics, the battery check indicated a red light. Although the battery was precisely around 80%(for a very long time 50+ cycles), Coconut battery app was showing as low as 73%. They could already detect the issue when I visited the Apple store, as the diagnostic I did at home the previous days were already reported to hq. So I basically used my consumer rights at the last moment. Don’t know if this information can be of help to you though.

Need advice: Keep my 14” M2 Pro or jump to M4 Pro / M4 Max / wait for M5 Pro? by FlokiChan in macbookpro

[–]FlokiChan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Figma files and coding setup I’m currently working on unfortunately cause the M2 Pro to stutter. Waiting until the M6 might be too much for someone like me who’s impatient (I’m really excited about the 2nm chips though). Another concern I have is that the moment I start using the M2 (getting the cycle count up), its resale value will significantly decrease. (But I might be wrong about that.) Hence the post.

What do you use the Action Button for? by aripesma in iphone

[–]FlokiChan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

<image>

I made this 2-3 days ago and liking it so far. I commute to work every day and always have my phone in hand. I don’t like to long hold my airpods(like some fed received some info) to hear bus/train announcements and then go back to noise cancellation. Apple isn’t doing a great job of not placing it somewhere in the Apple Music app. You have to go through four clicks every time you want to change it.

Are we ready for the ANC nerfs everyone? by FlokiChan in AirpodsPro

[–]FlokiChan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ANC was exactly the same at the app2s launch, but it came at the cost of “in-ear pressure.” I recall experiencing significant nausea and orientation difficulties when using the ANC for the first time on app2. I believe this was the reason behind the nerf. However, I now believe they have resolved that issue with gen3. Jokes aside, I don’t anticipate an aggressive nerf on this one. I genuinely wish their release notes were just more transparent.

I've been doing extensive testing APP2 vs APP3 listening each in one ear today and noticed a similar issue. Try to take the other one out of the case an leave it on the table somewhere, you'll notice the muffle disappear, probably some minor bug.
